Everybody saying that Ryota Suzui's purpose in Kakegurui is to keep Yumeko sane completely misses the point of his character. Over and over again it is made very clear that he has no power whatsoever to control Yumeko's decisions, and even clearer that they are not the product of somebody sane. Throughout the series's endlessly escalating gambles, Suzui is there as the audience surrogate so we can understand whats going on and how ridiculous the scale of each gamble is from the perspective of someone grounded in reality-- a reminder that no, not even at Hyakkou are they remotely reasonable. In between bets he is the one Yumeko talks to, and he is genuinely her friend. When he does gamble, its often with or for Yumeko, when his faith in her skill is shown to influence her and her faith in him makes him stronger. Ryota doesnt keep her sane. Ryota keeps her human.

I got sucked back into bnha recently and I couldn’t get the idea for a new oc out of my head!
This is Hatsume Renzu, aka The Spy Hero “Viewfinder”! She’s an underground hero less by choice and more by trade—that is to say, while she wouldn’t have any problem with the spotlight, it just doesn’t come with her kind of work. She doesn’t mind though—she’s always been the sort who prefers to observe from a distance. People are always more honest when they think they’re alone, but if she has to engage she’s always sure to maintain an easygoing, air-headed facade.
In truth, she’s very attentive to detail and has a great ability to understand people, if not necessarily connect with them. Her ability allows her to playback her memories with perfect clarity, and she spends much of her free time dissecting people’s actions to understand them better. In school, memorization tests were always the easiest, but application was where she had to improve.
When I was designing her in my head, I couldn’t help but realize she was ending up looking a lot like Hatsume Mei, so I decided to make Renzu her aunt. Just some fun canon interaction, y’all know the drill by now.

Iida gulped before the large doors that read ‘Development Studio.’ This could only go chaotic, knowing Mei…
He pushed the door open and walked inside with his gift hidden behind him. He scanned the room for the pink haired girl and found her working away at a student’s costume.
He snuck up behind her, “Mei?”
The girl whirled around, “Hi Iida!” She gave him a quizzical look, “what’re you hiding?”
“Uh…” he revealed the gift, “merry Christmas.”
She blinked, “for me?”
“Yes.”
She took the gift and took off the wrapping paper. “You got me a toolbox?”
“I heard you saying you needed one, so I figured I’d get one for you.” Iida rubbed the back of his neck, “I left a receipt in there in case you don’t like it. I got it at-”
“I LOVE IT!!” Mei flung herself at Iida and hugged him.
Iida blushed, “I’m glad you do.” He gingerly patted her back till she let go.
“Do you wanna see the Christmas present I made for you?”
Made. That word only lead to havoc.
“Sure…”
Mei disappeared for a few seconds. Iida could hear clanking and banging, as if Mei was rummaging through something.
But she wasn’t. Iida couldn’t have been more wrong as he stared, dumbfounded, at the largest robot stomping towards him.
“Isn’t he cool?!”
“How did you make that thing?” Iida awed at the machine - his head nearly bent all the way back from how tall it was.
“One time you told me you liked Transformers,” Mei explained, “so I made one for you.”
Iida only blinked. “This is incredible, Mei…”
Mei climbed down from the robot and smiled at him, “merry Christmas!” And headed back to her work station.
KamiJirou Week - Day 2

Prompt/Title: Pets
Jirou was in the midst of connecting her headphones to her phone when she heard a knock on her dorm door. She opened it so see a squirrel in Kaminari’s hands.
“Ew!” She jumped backwards, “get that thing away from me!”
“It’s hurt,” he cradled the creature in his hands.
“That thing probably has rabies!”
Kaminari persited anyway, “can we keep him?”
“No!”
He pouted like a child, “but it’s so cute…”
Jirou sighed, “fine, you can keep it till it gets better.”
“Yay!! Youre gonna be the best pet ever!”
Jirou heard the remnants of “I’m going to name you Jeffrey,” and “I’m gonna take real good care of you!” as Kaminari walked away.
She closed the door once he was out of view, and regretted what she did when she heard Bakugou’s yelling and explosions not shortly after.
Poor Jeffrey…
KamiJirou Week 2023 - Day 1

Prompt/Title: Vacation
Jirou relaxed on her towel - her feet outstretched, sunglasses on, and the hot sun warming her. She breathed in, the ocean breeze wafting overhead.
Suddenly, someone shouted.
“Watch out!!”
Wham!
A ball smacked Jirou in the face. She sprang upright - her sense of calmness gone.
“Hey, are you okay?”
“Do you think I am?” She snapped. Her face began to sting horribly as she gently pressed her cold water bottle up against her skin. She finally looked up to see the man approaching her: shirtless, sweaty and ripped.
He smiled at her apologetically, his yellow hair stuck to his sweaty neck. “Sorry about that…”
“It’s… fine.”
They stared at each other awkwardly.
“Can I have the ball?”
“Oh… yeah,” Jirou tossed him the ball as quickly as she could.
“Thanks.”
“Sure thing.”
The guy began heading back to his friends before stopping, “by the way. I’m Kaminari.”
“Jirou.” She replied. She watched Kaminari run towards his friends before laying back down on the towel, concluding that her face was red because of how hard the ball hit her face.
Not because of a really cute guy…

His mother used to tell him that while growing up, one of the many life lessons he would here from her. Comes with the territory of being raised by a single mother. She taught him everything there was to know about navigating this wild ride called life.
She taught him that love is kind and patient, it doesn't want anything in return. She told him that intimacy is gentle and compassionate, it doesn't need to be rushed or forced. But the one thing that really stuck with the man, was when she told him about marriage.
His father was always a distant man, only really appearing for his life milestones: Graduations, Birthday parties, he even showed up at his wedding.
His mother once said: "Marry for love, and it will be all you need".
At the time when she said that, Shouta was just fresh out of the hero academy. He wasn't even thinking about things like love or marriage. But now, looking at his husband Toshinori, sharing a bed with him while being the big spoon...
It all suddenly made sense.
He held Toshinori close to his body, like a child with their favorite stuffed animal. All those things his mother taught him, he finally understood what it all meant.

I had this idea way back in Halloween but never got the chance to post it. Anyway, here it is!
Prompt/Title: Crushing
It all happened so fast.
The first second, an explosion erupted. Kendo, being quick to think, took action as dust and debris blew around. Small pebbles struck her face as if sharp needles.
The next second, she loosened her grip on her girlfriend and co-hero, Creati, too see blood ooze out from the bottom.
What? She thought, I’m not hurt.
She opened her hand, releasing her girlfriend - who peeled off her palm and face-planted on the floor.
Kendo was right. She wasn’t hurt.
The blood was her girlfriend’s.
“Creati?” Kendo’s voice held a slight hint of panic. She hurried to her girlfriend, who lay unresponsive.
“Creati?” Kendo repeated, “can you hear me?”
She placed a hand on Yaoyorozu’s skin - it was cold. She leaned closer to her partner and listened to the faint, shaky breaths she let out.
Blood was dripping from her mouth.
“Momo!” Kendo twirled her girlfriend around to face her. Big mistake.
The black-haired girl winced in pain. She looked deflated. And, well, her ribs looked crushed.
Kendo couldn’t fathom the idea. She stared at her girlfriend, who hanged on the brink of death.
This was her fault. She tried to save Momo from the explosion but crushed her instead.
“Momo? Momo!” Kendo’s voice became frantic.
She killed her girlfriend. She killed her girlfriend. She shook her head, unable to process what was happening, tears streaming down her face.
“I’m sorry, Momo, I’m so sorry!” She sobbed, “I never meant to! I love you!”
She stared at Momo, hoping she’d spring up and pick up where she left off like the resilient girl she was.
But no.
She was already dead.
