Ana: I miss you, Leonardo. I wish I could talk more than I do, I'm thankful you understand why I can't. How've you been?
Leo: Haha, do I understand or am I just forced to accept it to have you?
Leo: I've been fine besides wanting to see you.
Leo: Sorry that I'll never stop asking.

Humming to herself as she dropped tea bags into the two mugs she’d gotten out for herself and Leo to have tea in, Blake glanced over at where the man stood holding his daughter. He was a natural actually, which some might find surprising considering how he’d reacted to becoming a father and the way their daughter had come to be, but as time passed the woman was coming to understand it wasn’t that shocking at all. Leo doted on the baby and had since she was born three months ago, which filled her mother’s heart everytime she watched it. Pausing for a second with a soft smile playing on her lips, only snapped out of it when the kettle clicked signalling the water had boiled, bringing her attention back to the task at hand. She was in the process of pouring boiling hot water into the second mug when the man’s question was asked, making her almost drop the kettle. “I…what…?” Blake faltered as she set it down on the counter to save herself from danger, hand still gripping the handle, not daring to turn around. “What … why does that matter?”
-
Leo watched as Blake froze in place, and he couldn’t help but laugh. It was amusing to him just how doe like Blake still managed to be even though he had met the lustful ridden woman she was inside.“I was just curious,” He said as if it was an obvious reason to ask a question, albeit much too casually. His fire chaotic sign was flaming ever since the passing of his thirty-fourth birthday. “Because Mira’s three months now.” He said bringing his attention to the now sleeping baby girl, he held with just one arm. Mira was now sporting such a full belly now that was covered by a duck onesie. She was denser and no longer felt like the tiny newborn he had met on that fateful day. She was now an infant. He had settled her down slowly in her bassinet for a nap. “That means you should be fine now right? Come on, it’s not an awkward thing to talk to me about.” He encouraged before he moved to sit at a seat nearest to Blake. As soon as he said those words, he heard them, and realized he was asking her to be open with her sex life while he was keeping his closed. But he brushed it off and continued on with his charade. “Spill some tea.”

brief history
the davis family is to put it quite plainly, a fucking mess. it started out fairly typical. boy meets girl, boy falls for girl, boy and girl get married and have a baby. and then that baby ends up in foster care as a toddler. oh wait, that’s not typical. just the short end that leo was given by life, and man did life continue to give him a number of short ends. let’s back track at little.
leo’s mom passed away when he was three years old. growing up everyone had told him she passed because she was sick. when he was old enough to find out what really happened, he regretted it. her autopsy had stated she had died from accidental poisoning, but he knew how to read between the lines. a young couple with a newborn in Brooklyn in that economy? leo’s poor father only made it three more months before he had succumb to his own vices, and figured his child was better off at some home ran by nuns.
now you’d think, okay, a toddler would have a fine time getting adopted, but it became clear that his terrible toddler years weren’t a phase. he had bounced around from family to family till he was deemed too old to be desirable. leo was generally a quiet kid until this burst of energy would charged right through him. then he was loud, uncontrollable, and almost unattainable. the nuns had claimed he was possessed, but without looking through the narrow eye of religion, it was clear he needed help. but even as an adult he had never found the help he needed. he still deals with inability to communicate his emotions in a healthy way. he chooses vices to keep them subdued. hell, his own livelihood is one to mimic emotion and make others believe it.
work
through everything, leo found solace in watching the black and white tv in the game room, and reading every bit of dr. suess and shakespeare he could get his hands on. he admired the way things always seemed to work out so well on the screen. how things were always so perfect when planned, written, and especially how they were portrayed. he was in love with that aspect and knew that he could act just as well.
he had success in beginning of his so called acting career. he was a vessel of pure potential. but even with a degree of performance arts from nyu, leo couldn’t be what they were all looking for. notes of being too aggressive, too intense, and too much had him fall back to teaching or live on the streets. he wouldn’t have guessed it but teaching all the ingenues and having their careers begin to bloom before his eyes was his own personal hell. he would watch as they took his advice and become far more than he’d ever be. the only thing that kept him going were three things. one, the money for he made was decent, and kept him comfortable in his townhome in manhattan. two, he could at least live vicariously. three, he could afford to forget it all at dive bar on the 9th.
love
somehow leo met his wife in a cinematic meet cute. it was perfect. too perfect. too perfectly easy. their love affair moved in a way where an outsider could look at them and fill in the passion that wasn’t there. at least it wasn’t there for him. he loved her but didn’t know if that love held any depth. but somehow he made her happy. he didn’t understand himself but he continued through the motions long enough for him to believe that there was something between them rather than connivence. he gave her what she needed to keep her happy. a ring and a home, just anything other than himself.
no, he reserved his true self for words on a screen. his affair was new and he didn’t deem it as an affair. he was seemingly just getting along with someone who understood him better. someone like himself. someone who wasn’t perfect and didn’t expect him to be.

“Depends.” Oliver gave Leo a look. Weren’t he and his wife loaded? “I’ve seen people charge that for a hand job.” He smiled as a woman turned around to play the part of the offended dame . “I know ma'am. In this economy?” His eyes grew larger then, before he shook his head in dismissal. She could take her outrage else where.
“Anyway, you do whatever you want with this information,” sticking his hands in his pockets, he had a look over at the list for largest donors, expecting to find The Brown foundation somewhere in the top 5, and not exactly surprised to see they were in the top 3.
-
Leo’s brows behind the leather mask shot straight up at Oliver’s remark. Laughter from his belly left his lips which doubled when Oliver told off their eavesdropper. Leo’s laughter making the speed of her exit all the more hastily. “I don’t think I’ll ever stoop so low. But if I get there, you’ll know.” He sniffed, shaking his head, before focusing back on the donation slip. “And I’m of course--kidding about a five dollar donation.” He said, writing down four digits. This amount was safe for him and his wife’s combined income, but all he could see were the amount of drinks that could be had at the dive bar on the ninth. So. Many. Drinks. “On the safe side, I better ask Alaska.” He said, folding up the slip, and placing it in his coat’s inner pocket. He was buying time with the money, and mourning the potential loss of an excessive amount of his vice.
He made way to see what had Oliver’s attention now. Leo clearly saw his friend’s last name, and he nearly snorted. “Besides, why do they need my money when they got yours, you ol’ fox?” Leo quipped with tilting his head to the side, his lion mask surely adding the playful taunting that Leo was delivering.

Blake thought her shock had been maximised when she’d come face to face with Leo out of nowhere, but it was nothing compared to how she felt when he grabbed her arm roughly. Eyes swivelling down to it she opened her mouth before closing it again, no words escaping. He was hurting her, it was actually fairly scary. “I’m…I’m not playing with you, stop it you’re hurting me.” The girl whimpered softly, her eyes wide. Obviously the man was panicking which objectively was understandable but that didn’t mean she was okay with the way he was going about it, at all. But there was nowhere she could go so in a moment of panic she just shook her head. “No, what? No of course it’s not yours. Why would I have not told you if it was yours.” For exactly this reason actually, but vindication wasn’t really the sensation she was feeling at the top of her list right now, even if she had been vindicated by this whole scenario. “It’s a baby, and it’s not yours so get off me.” She was trying to sound sure of herself, but it wasn’t really going to plan.

Hearing that it wasn’t his just caused another influx of questions to replace the previous ones. If that were true why was she hiding her pregnancy from him? Why not mention it? Why keep something so big in her life a secret? Had she planned to dissolve their relationship completely? these empty questions disappeared as he answer fell upon his ears. he had gotten the answer he wanted. it wasn’t his. and it wasn’t his problem. his secrets were still going to be safe from his wife. he could continue living his precious double life. Still his anger visibly blazed in him. how did he even had room to be jealous? his hand had tightened before it finally loosened. his eyes went down to her bicep and saw how his fingers left a white impression on her reddening skin. he stared unable to accept that he had just done that. he usually harmed inanimate objects, not people, especially not women. his eyes began to mirror her fear and he immediately backed away from her. His lips parted to apologize but couldn’t see that helping in the slightest. he stayed silent and looked away from her like a coward he really was.

ANA HADN’T PLANNED TO LET HER CATFISHING SCHEME GO THIS LONG, IN FACT, SHE HADN’T PLANNED TO EVEN TALK TO THIS GUY FOR MORE THAN A COUPLE OF DAYS. But yet here she was, six months later and she was starting to fall. In love wasn’t really in her vocabulary, especially for this relationship - it was messy; Ana knew he was married - but yet she couldn’t help it. Her mind often raced thinking of him, and the conversations the two had was usually more conversation than Ana had on any given day. She knew it was the most meaningful anyways; talking to Leo had become part of her routine, and honestly also the best part of her day.
Today had been a bit of a slower one. While she’d spent the majority of her day at work, there was no way she was going to tell Leo that. Not when her life was so uneventful, at least in her eyes. Most nights were spent either at the bar, a club, or watching Netflix and eating tubs of ice cream - murder mysteries were her favorite - and sometimes she would simply relax in a bathtub and listen to the playlist that was on constant playlist. The very one she was listening to now; the very one she created with Leo in mind.
With her phone in her hand, earbuds blasting music even though she lived alone, she lifted her phone, allowing herself to pull up the message to Leo, a sure start to a good night. Dearest Leonardo, she sent, the message making her laugh as she pressed send, immediately typing another message. I’ll send you five kisses if you guess what song I’m listening to right now.
-
Leo set his drink back down once he saw and heard her message having sent. He sat up straighter taking in her words. He had waited impatiently for her today. Leo smiled seeing his full first name spelled out. He heard her voice saying it in such a teasing manner. He bit his lip as he looked off the screen to think of what song they had in common. His eyes moved around the bar, the empty space around him was evident but in his mind he was with her. Everywhere by Michelle Branch, he sent back, and watched to see if he was right. Because god, what he would do for five actual kisses from this woman that completely captivated him with words alone. Well, her photos did help, but it was mostly her mind he was attracted to. Did I get it right? He double texted, making sure he’d keep her attention now that he had it. The song began to play in the back of his mind, and the lyrics resonated with him like the first time it was brought up.
nate-jones:
In a way, Nate expected to be punched, shoved, or have soemthing else done to him. It was New York, where people were always on a high alert, and being defensive was no surprise. After all, this was on him; he was a complete stranger following someone home, it was almost as if he was begging for something to happen. To his surprise, however, the man actually seemed worried, and at his request, he nodded along, taking a deep breath- and a step back, to give the other the privacy he had been depraved of.
“Oh yeah. I probably should have called you, right?” Funnily enough, the idea of calling the man never even came to Nate’s mind. It would have been so much smarter to do that, but then again, would he have gotten anything out of it? Would he had just ended the call once he had heard that Nate had no money to pay for the classes? “Sorry about that. I just assumed it’s easier this way, you know? But now that I really think about it, this is creepy. I mean, I kind of wanted to approach you after class, rather than follow you, but-” But he was ranting once more, and, smiling sheepishly, Nate shut up, instead taking another deep breath as he held onto his backpack.
“I’m sorry.” He repeated once more, knowing that he had to start all over again, and, most likely, be really, really quick about it. How long could he keep the man waiting like that before the other lost his patience? Not that Nate expected it from him, but he simply understood; he understood how frustrating it must have been to have a complete stranger follow you like that. “I know you’re an absolutely fantastic acting coach, and I’ve been trying to branch myself out. I’m a dancer- I’m a ballet dancer at NYCB- and I know how limited that sounds, but I’ve done a lot when it comes to different styles of dancing, and just choreography in general. I also know how to fight. But I really, really want to learn how to act, or even get some tips on how to do it, how to start.” By no means was he anywhere close to being good at that. And right now, he was struggling to even attempt to sell himself. “The thing is, I only have enough money for what’s probably one lesson, at best. But I’m willing to do whatever you need- if you need anything!“ He probably had plenty of contacts everywhere, but it didn’t hurt to try. Probably.
-
“Yeah you should have called me,” leo couldn’t help but repeat the kid’s words like he was making a joke. it would have saved leo the surprise. he hated surprises unless he was the one to cause them. he listened to the kid’s explanation and apology once more. though leo waved off the apology, he wanted him to get to the point. leo’s eyes squinted and his brows moved up and down as he took the guy’s verbal resume that was tumbling onto to leo’s ears. he blinked when the boy was finished and lips pursed wondering how he could even respond to all of that.
“A ballet dancer?” Leo sized him up, not hiding it in his eyes that he was surprised. “Look, kid, charity work is probably good and all, but I don’t have time for it.” He said, a reflex reaction to being asked to do something for free. Though Leo had been on the other side many of times. He still wasn’t completely sure if he should help the boy out. Leo continued to look at him, still evaluating everything he had learned from other’s ranting. But if he had the dedication to be a ballet dancer in New York and be able to make it into the NYCB... Leo could practically taste the potential. and passion was easy to see in the kid’s kind eyes. Plus having someone owing you a favor in the city was always a good thing to possess.
“Tell you what, kid, you pay for the first lesson, and I’ll decide if you even have the chops to continue trying to act. If you do, then I’m sure we could figure out something out.” He said and with an open palm patted the kid on the back once. “Just do not ever follow me, again.” He glared down his nose as a warning, but in the same instance took out his wallet. Leo plucked a business card from one of the slits and offered it to the boy. “These are my contacts, use them.” He said, amused with himself. “Now do you have a name, sport?”
Is there anyone out there? Cause it's getting harder and harder to breathe
averydawson:
Avery playfully rolled her eyes at his words. But her eyes went wide when she saw him bolt for the bathroom. She knew exactly what was happening. She heard the cup falling, knowing he spilled and that his head was in the toilet. “okay.” she said quietly, getting a new cup of water then follow him to the bathroom. She swallowed hard and walked in. “You good?” she asked, kneeling beside him and rubbing his back. “Let it all out.” she added. “Here drink this, you need to finish it. Please.” she advised. Thankfully, she had mouth wash for him to use.
-
Leo quickly reached up to flush the toilet when he heard her come in. Whether it was a pride thing or out of courtesy, he didn’t know. No one had seen him this low. He had done such a good job of hiding the effects his depency had on him from everyone close to him. He had done such a good job from hiding himself. And with the biggest secret he’s ever had looming over his head, he couldn’t drink the guilt away. no, not this time. tonight was proof there wasn’t enough alcohol to wash away this indiscretion. it pained him to even think about it that way. leo coughed and took the water from Avery, his half lidded eyes not showing much. “when I left here the other night... it was because my friend was having a baby... my baby..” he said in weak montoned way. he was becoming coldly sober. he took a sip of the water before dragging his eyes to Avery’s face. “I have a baby with someone who’s not my wife.”
