Brown irises and the shades of green and gold

A view for a lifetime and for growing old

You smile at me like you’ve seen what the future holds

And I kiss your lips like I’ve never kissed them before

Warm embraces and cold farewells as you walk with your head low

You always hated leaving me unlike the other four

My body longs for you like an antidote to my soul

Other than you, love, everyone else is a bore

As we climb this hill, I hope you perfectly know

Every sunrise and moonset spent in your arms and in the shadows

Will be hidden in my rusty locket like a memento

To remind me in case I fail to recall

How my heart glowed a different glow

When your path led you to my door
