And The Only One Mentally Losing It Is Bruce. Even Alfred Drops Lore Every Once In A While.

And the only one mentally losing it is Bruce. Even Alfred drops lore every once in a while.

Alfred proceeds to get a record distance shot of a sniper on a target.

Tim: Sick. Where'd you learn that?

Alfred: I was in Finland during the Cold War. I even trained under Simo Häyhä.

Bruce (realizes Alfred trained under the White Death): ?!?!?

I like to think that all the bat siblings just randomly drop insane lore about themselves. Like- they all have so much going on that there's no way to update everyone on everything so whenever one person mentions something crazy that happened in passing, the rest of the bats that didn't know are super chill about it. Except Bruce. When he finds out something he doesn't know, he always freaks out a little bit (control freak).

(Tim taking his daily antibiotic)

Bruce (trying to remember if something happened on patrol): Are you injured?

Tim (casually): No I'm alright. I've just had to take these ever since I lost my spleen.

Jason: Word. Good to be careful I guess.

Bruce (internally panicking): You lost your spleen?

Tim: well, maybe lost is the wrong word. I'm pretty sure Ra's Al Ghul still has it in a jar somewhere.

Jason: Not even surprised. He's creepy like that.

Bruce: ??!??!?!?!!

(Dick, Cass, Tim, and Bruce after patrol one night)

Tim: Hey Dick that was a cool move you pulled back there

Dick: Oh that? Yeah I learned that when I was apprenticing for Deathstroke.

Cass (nodding): Skilled fighter.

Dick: Yeah, situation kinda sucked but oh well.

Bruce: (Trying to piece together when the fuck that happened)

15. Physical contact is off limits unless he initiates first. If you try to touch him without his permission or without approaching you first, you will get bit or punched.

16. Do not ask him how he died. Dying is a sensitive subject to us already. Someone who already died does not need to be reminded of said death.

I’m writing this in the perspective of the citizens of Amity Park, just an fyi

Rules for interacting with Phantom

1. Don’t go looking for him. Phantom knows when someone is looking for him and will avoid you at all costs.

2. It’s suggested to learn a little sign language since Phsntom with randomly switch from English to ghost speak. This change seems uncomfortable in most cases and causes him distress when he can’t communicate what he’s trying to say.

3. If he picks you up or grabs your hand and starts pulling on you, don’t freak out. He’s trying to move you out of harm’s way. Follow him until he lets go.

4. If he approaches you at night and asks if he can stargaze with you, say yes. You won’t be in trouble if you say no, but we’re trying to get him used to humans.

5. If you spot him, don’t go out of your way to approach him. He doesn’t like that. He’ll notice you coming.

6. If you spot him and he’s near something you need, such as the entrance to your workplace or your campfire, simply say hi to him and continue to avoid startling him. He’s been reported to conjure up ice spikes from the ground around him or shoot ectoplasm when he’s startled, so avoid doing so if you can.

7. If you notice the Fentons near where Phantom is, try to redirect them. Phantom is our only real line of defense against other ghosts who want to cause harm.

8. If you hear a loud, haunting wail, don’t worry. That’s possibly Phantom’s most powerful weapon, and it’s highly effective against other ghosts. This is usually taken as a sign that the town is now safe again. Do not approach Phantom after he uses this power unless you want to get punched in the face. This power takes up most of his strength and leaves him vulnerable, which makes him extra cautious and scared of both humans and ghosts. If he’s injured and you want to help, it’s best to go in preparing for retaliation. (Extra warning: Phantom’s saliva contains ectoplasm, which is essentially acid for anything living. Be VERY careful, because he will try to bite as a last resort. Try to make sure he knows you’re there to help before touching him.)

9. If you’re a ghost hunter and you harm Phantom, and you hear a loud groan in the distance that oddly reminds you of a broken grandfather clock, apologize and do what you can to fix your mistake immediately. Phantom isn’t all alone. He has allies, and some of them, you never want to meet.

10. If he approaches you and strikes up conversation, it’s your choice to respond or not.

I'm kinda in agreement honestly. Those two are the two I always go back to when I want to read something/melt my heart. I like your other fics, don't get me wrong, but those two have a special place in my heart.

Whenever someone interacts with A Broken Sort of Normal in some way it makes me a little melty. I still think it and Shadow of a Bat are my best two fics from an artistic perspective.

I'm just imagining if/when the other bats find out. Like Tim makes one too many "unwanted child" jokes recently that maybe have a reasoning behind them. When Bruce and Dick find out, they are absolutely distraught (mostly Dick, but Bruce does have his moments). When Damian finds out, he makes an unwarranted "they should have went through with it and gotten rid of you" insult, and for the briefest moment Damian saw Tim break at the insult, no jab back, no insult, just a sharp inhale and a quiver of the lip. (He wouldn't tell the others, but he could have sworn he heard Tim crying later that day). Jason is, ironically, the most sympathetic to Tim. In my personal hc, he once heard his own parents say the same thing. Jay secretly and "anonymously" offered an ear.

CW: abortion/misscariage talk

Tim finding out that he really, legitimately, was an unwanted child.

It all comes to light when he’s looking through his old medical records after loosing his spleen. He wanted to check that there were no allergies he had other than shrimp and then looked into his family. Of certain cancers or disease were common in his linage, he needed to be aware so he could lessen the risk as much as possible.

That’s when he discovers that his mother, proud !feminist’ and independent woman that she was, had refused several surgeries to remove her uterus or have her tubes tied but still had several abortions.

And by several, the papers literally mean several.

Seven whole abortions of children she didn’t want, yet both her and Jack refused to do anything to jsut… prevent any pregnancy in the first place.

They got it all covered with hush money so it wouldn’t get out to the public, but they ended up making a mistake.

Janet Drake went to a Gala when she was unknowingly pregnant and a woman, whose husband was the owner of a prominent news paper company, noticed several signs that Janet was with child. She pointed this out to Janet and when she saw the look of familiar realisation on her face, promised to keep it secret.

Just a day later an article was shown with a photo of Janet with a barely there bump and just like that, Jack and Janet were forced to keep their baby.

Maybe if they hadn’t made several public statements about being against abortion it wouldn’t have mattered, but hypocrites rarely win.

Tim finds several statements by doctors in their files, hidden away behind several fake files and private stamps, that show the couple had tried to figure out a way to ‘remove’ the child before it was born so it wouldn’t be a problem.

Tim even goes so far as to look at his parents search history around the time and sees in horror as it goes from searches on how to force a miscarriage to the financial benefits of a child.

That’s where Alfred finds him, frozen and staring at his screen with enough tears to make a puddle on his desk.

The worst part?

He’s not even that surprised.

HC that Lois Lane is like the one aunt who gets you out of trouble just as much as she gets you into trouble.

She's the kind of person to bail her gaggle of children and idiots out of jail that knows her by name.

Just a thought

An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works

Hey. I’m writing a fanfic if you wanna check it out. I thought to myself a couple months ago “What if Danny made a deal with himself to become a warlock?” Then I thought “What if Constantine helped?”

Mine too. I feel the two of them feel like they're the unwanted middle child who reacts differently when being ignored. Tim is resigned to it while Jason causes problems to get attention.
