Maybe I’m reading too deep into Sam and Max’s codependency, but did anyone else ever realize that Sam and Max gauge each other’s emotional responses to a situation and (often) use said emotional response to mirror that to their own responses? I’m not sure if that makes sense, but here’s the best example I have on hand:
Scenes from 103: Casino explosion.
SC1: Happy, looking to Sam for his reaction (given we can’t see it, but we can safely infer it’s the same as we see it in other frames).
SC2: Quickly gauged, realizing Sam’s not too jovial about this and mirroring that to his own reaction.
SC3: Panicked, almost? Remains that way until they are outside the casino.

I’m probably overanalyzing their codependency, given how usually lighthearted the franchise is (cough…301-305…). I have so many other analyses regarding this duo that I need to figure out how to write out in a way that makes sense, because I feel like the psychological part of this community might enjoy them. Hopefully. Fingers crossed.
This is just a warm up post so y’all know what you’re getting into…
Sam: Worried, Max?
Max: It's always a concern when unhappy spirits stroll in and out of the cosmic doggy door between here and there, Sam.
Sam: You're embarrassing when you try to be profound.
Max: Thank you.
