Come in from a run in the November morning, raise the blinds, let the sun soak the carpet and the dog curls in the warmth to rest. Decide on chocolate chip pancakes, and though it’s only just for you and though you can never get the consistency just right, it’s always the thought that counts. Hum, batter dripping from the whisk. You’ve been listening to jazz so much more, admiring the way the piano pours like molasses. Across the room, the heater kicks on. A handful of chocolate chips that never make it to the bowl. Your thick socks on the cool kitchen tile. A smile flirts with the corners of your mouth. This. This is how you learn to make the mornings yours.
The air smells like flower, the sun is soft on my skin and every time there’s a gust of wind my garden is showered in white petals.
Take a deep breath everyone.
We’re gonna be ok.

Look, it kills me, it absolutely slays me, that The Lord of the Rings isn’t a chosen one story when it comes to the One Ring. Yes, the ring was passed to Frodo, at first by the ring’s own choosing, but then came to him from the choice of hobbits. Bilbo wasn’t supposed to find the ring, wasn’t supposed to take it out of those mountains. And it was as if fate and magic had forgotten about the hobbits and underestimated them. And Frodo, that lad, that beautiful, strong lad takes the ring to Mordor! Not even because he’s a “chosen one” or has to. HE. DECIDES. TO. A tiny hobbit who had never known true adventure fought for the good in his heart. He chose to save Middle Earth. HE. CHOSE. THAT. Frodo’s story is all about choosing to be good, in the small things, the big things. It’s about showing everyone’s importance in this world. It’s about choosing to be better than those who would crush you, to fight against them, to fight for the good in the world. It’s about choosing that.
“i know it hurts sometimes but you’ll get over it”
People that are like “climate change is worsening and all of humanity is going to deserve it” should realize how kind of evil and insane of a thing that is to say Like, no actually, the masses of people in the world that are impoverished, homeless, poor and working paycheck to paycheck to survive, plus the masses of indigenous folks, POC, queer and religious minorities trying to survive the trauma of generations of industrialization & colonization DON’T deserve to go extinct over the actions of a few dozen oil executives and an economic system we have no control over, especially when we’re doing all that we can for a safer healthier planet wtf
The lives of 7 billion humans do not deserve extinction over the actions of very few oil companies destroying the planet, don’t say shit like that.
