Me:

Higher math being a requirement to graduate high school is fucking insane and has pretty much no parallel in any other subject. Science, history, english, ect. all focus on giving you general knowledge on a wide variety of topics, but no, you’d better be able to do this advanced calculus formula that’s useful in only one (1) specific situation if you want that diploma. It would be like if 1/5th of your graduation exam depended on you being able to recite detailed facts about the biology of New World frogs entirely from memory. 

When a member of an oppressed group tells you to stop doing something that triggers them or to not use a slur, they’re not violating your free speech, because they don’t actually have any power to stop you. You won’t be arrested, fined, or penalized in any way if you continue to do the thing that bothers them. They’re simply saying that if you respected them and people like them, you would stop. By continuing, you’re simply stating that you’re willingly choosing to not respect them.

When that planned 15 minute nap turns into a 4 hour nap.
