We need to stop and think that this issue isn’t JUST about mass shootings. Deaths by guns are awful, atrocious, and easily preventable. 

Approx. 63% of gun deaths are suicides. A large number of suicides are impulsive, spur of the moment decisions. 

If you take away someone’s gun they have more time to stop, to think before they hurt themselves or other people. 

More black men die from gun violence than any other demographic. A great many of the other gun deaths are domestic violence issues. Approx. 50 women die every month because they were shot by a partner. 

I implore the younger generation, do not stop fighting, do not be complacent. To my younger followers, this should be one of the fights that you carry with you as you grow older, as you find your voice. 

Every single issue you care about - Black Lives Matter, the deaths of gay and trans people in the US, domestic violence - all of these issues would be affected positively be keeping guns out of the hands of people who intend to cause.

To the younger folks out there especially - you’ve grown up in a time where guns are accepted, where guns are common, where guns are the status quo and mass shootings happen all the time. 

But that doesn’t have to be our future - your future. 

You have a powerful voice. USE IT TO CHANGE THINGS.
