I'm a big nerd for the villain love trope so, I put this to you.
Very strange romantic gestures that just don't translate to humans. Gunmar from ToA Wizards where he tries to court and woo a human.
Or Morando from 3 below trying to woo his love who is a big human nerd :3 go as romantic and sappy as you want!!
You nearly faint when you open your door and see a dead bear on your wooden steps. Living in the woods near Camelot, you were no stranger to wild animals but this was something entirely different. A bear? If it was sleeping you'd just let it be and pass by but a dead bear? How did this happen?
You'd come out of your house to check what the strange shuffling and thumping noise were from earlier and now you were regretting it. This poor creature. Observing the carcass your hand grazes over its soft furr and you pause realizing it was still warm. Had there been some sort of fight? Was it still alive? Poking it again you frowned, it wasn't breathing. Crossing your arms getting the strange feeling you were being watched you shivered and pushed that thought away trying to think of what to do with the bear. You supposed leaving it to waste away was a worse fate than its actual death. The meat and pelt would be valuable at the market and could give you the money you needed for moons to come, but how did this happen? And why?
Stepping around the bear and touching another part of it curiously you paused. At first you thought it looked like another bear had mauled it but these slash marks were so percise, the bear was hardly even hurt. Simply torne open from the belly.
Seeing that its heart was missing you swallowed nervously but chose to ignore the very obvious sign of danger. Stepping back around the strange anomoly your about to go inside and get all the supplies needed to properly skin and take the meat out of the bear as well as brainstorm how to move the damn thing to your shed when you pause. The... the night was shifting.
"Do you like it?" The voice is old and rolls over you like water over river rock stone. Something you'd expect from a fae and not a person. Though you supposed anything this strong and large couldn't be human.
Snapping your head up a beast three times your size towers over you with large imposing horns that touch the night. It's fangs gleam white like stars as hot puffs of air leave its mouth and you stare at its glowing blue eyes in surpise. When the shock wears off the stench of blood and the reality of the situation hits you making your head dizzy. You grip your door handle and stare up at the troll confused.
You knew they wandered around these parts but why did he give you this. What did he want?
"I'm... I'm sorry?" You question confused. Your mouth was dry and your voice was higher than usual. You felt your body was trembling but you tried to remain calm because he didn't seem to want to hurt you. As your eyes adjusted better to the darkness you looked at the bear before you than the troll.
"Humans give hearts to their beloveds. They hold feasts and dance under the stars to show their love. Is this not correct?" You supposed giving your heart could have several meanings but this was a bit out of your comfort zone. You hunted of course, everyone in the woods had too to survive. But this felt different somehow.
"I... I... Thankyou?" You question what to say before nearly passing out as the troll picks something off the ground and gifts it to you. Holding out your hands on impulse, something wet sticky and heavy is placed in your hold. Blood runs inbetween your fingers and you realize this is the missing heart you'd thought of when checking the bear.
"Your welcome." He leans in and you scrutch your eyes closed afraid this'll be your last breath and he'll kill and eat you but instead there's a pause. A soft gentleness. He sniffs your hair before he leans forward tapping his stone forehead to yours.
You open your eyes and stare into his beautiful blue eyes. His hair tickles your face and his stone is soothing against your skin. As your heart rate calms down you begin to breath in sync with the troll infront of you. What feels like lifetimes was only a minute or so but as he pulls away you want to grab him. Want to ask him so many things. Instead you let out a little squeak as he licks your forehead smoothing back some of your unruly hair and lets out a deep purr of satisfaction.
"My name is Gunmar." He states and you nod clutching the bear heart closer.
"... I'm (Y/N)." You finally respond cheeks pink from the contact you'd had moments ago. He rumbles happily in his chest before bowing his head towards you, his horns resting on either side of you.
"Until we meet again." And with that he turns away stalking off into the night. His horns are the last thing you see before he's gone and as he leaves all you can think about is how much you want to see him again.
Clutching the bear heart you chuckle. A little untraditional perhaps. But it would never be a forgettable memory.
