What I Find Most Frustrating About The “do Men Of Color Benefit From Patriarchy?” Discourse On Twitter

what i find most frustrating about the “do men of color benefit from patriarchy?” discourse on twitter is that those who deny that they do NEVER talk about the oppression women of color face from racism/imperialism AND the misogyny from their own communities. that’s how i know they care more about coddling abusive men of color than protecting women of color.

Do not interact if you're under 19.

[TW rape mention, sa mention, sex work]

Do Not Interact If You're Under 19.

so people who can see the exploitation of women in industry and they don't like it are "puritans" now. What's the point we missed? That women are sold into this industry, forced, and raped on camera? What's the point we missed? How can you be sure that these women aren't on drugs? I saw an interview with few of the sex workers and one said that she couldn't do that until she was on drugs and all her colleagues endured it and received physical and psychological traumas. What's the point we missed?

Y'all will be "listen to sex workers!" Until thousands of them come out and say they were exploited, abused, and traumatized, and then you tell them to "shut up!" and just ignore their experience, you are not "progressive", you just hate victims and women.

Hey, as a black female I’m pretty sure you’re just using people like me as a prop but if you want a real answer, feel free to respond with a ‘sure’!

me: hey so uhhhh if being a woman must be experienced one certain way then how do you factor in women of colour or women from other countries into that?

radfem i have the displeasure of speaking to: shut up i'm not even going to reply to that go read a feminist book

Actually you know what, that element of the reply was fair we should absolutely be arguing about the lack of ethics regarding the constant monitoring state we’re in. It’s fucked up that vulnerable people can have their most horrific moments shared online forever without their permission with the only recourse being maybe the site might take it down possibly if they ask with no actual guarantee. It’s really gross that one crap moment could end up ruining your life because now your potential employer sees you as ‘unstable’ or ‘bad for the company’s image’. Why are we as a society acting like that’s fine?

White People Like It So We Just Gotta Keep Rewriting History Like They Invented It, Right? I’ve Also

White people like it so we just gotta keep rewriting history like they invented it, right? I’ve also heard people say conversations about hummus and bubble tea are “the whitest conversations ever.” Are y’all serious?

SNAPS FOR KRISTA SUH!!!

Dear god, I thought shitty modern art would stop at "banana taped to a wall" but now it's escalated to "keep three piglets caged in an art gallery and make them slowly starve to death in front of audiences".

they've been doing that sort of thing for a while, there was one maybe ten years ago where someone displayed a bunch of individual goldfish in powered blenders that the audience could choose to turn on or not

the thing about this sort of stuff though is that the audience response and the audience response TO the audience response is also part of the art, so "me beating your ass in an art gallery for liquifying a fish in front of me" is now a commentary on the the place of individual choice in a larger society.

also someone broke in and stole those piglets, which is an even funnier response, because now this art piece is a commentary on general human decency and there's nothing the artist can do about it

You don’t get to argue that only males experience oppression based AND call yourself a feminist book.

Thinking about that reply that one time that went something like, ‘finding out the capitalist patriarchal system takes advantage of vulnerable groups for sex should make a leftist angry and want to fight back. But instead the pro-sex-work crowd uses the system at large being crappy and exploitative as a way to shrug off the notion of prostitution being bad.’

Mostly because posts on my dash are reminding me of it. People are like, ‘womp womp capitalism’s always bad’ you don’t act that way about Amazon and their pee bottles. You get mad at the inhumane treatment of impoverished people! Suddenly the status quo of exploiting impoverished people is fine when it’s for sex. It’s so bullshit.

(I haven’t even talked about the homophobia in this fucking thing-)

It GETS me that Whipping Girl is THE book people recommend me to understand Trans feminism and Trans Misogyny. In one breath it’ll bring up how the female body is treated as taboo to the point where the clitoris is viewed as a fucking myth and the next it’ll argue that no oppression happens on the basis of sex. It claims men oppress women because they’re just oh so scared to embrace femininity and if they were allowed to they would embrace women with open arms. It makes homophobic ‘I only see people’s inner essence in their eyes not their genitalia UwU anyone who cares about genitalia during sex is just shallow and phobic’ arguments. I would recommend it to Radfems because every crap tra argument you’ve had comes from this fucking book, but I don’t think it’d change anyone who isn’t already jumping on the concept that males are the biggest victims of patriarchy.
