when u read a book that hits so different before bed and then turn off ur light n stare into space going ??how??? will??? i go on??? with?? my life??
Up first: Sylvia Rivera who is a Latina trans activist, helped create STAR with Marsha P Johnson. She was a founding member of the Gay Liberation Front and the Gay Activists Alliance. She is a pioneer of trans rights!! ❤️
Bisexual Mexican artist Frida Kahlo spoke out about being disabled after a bus accident. Her self-portraits comment on the female form and utilize traditional Mexican themes and colors!
Kara Walker is a Black artist who creates these very powerful silhouettes highlighting race and scenerios of our past in slavery. She creates many other works as well, but those are my personal favorite. I’ve seen them in person!
Katherine Johnson who is represented in the movie “Hidden Figures”, calculated the precise trajectories that would let Apollo 11 land on the moon in 1969. She was a very talented mathematician. In 2015, President Barack Obama awarded her the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Malala Yousafzai is a prominent figure in our world. Every day she fights to ensure all girls receive 12 years of free, safe, quality education. She is also the youngest Nobel Prize recipient. Even after the gunman incident, her voice never stayed quiet.
Rosa Parks of course. She was a leader in the local NAACP and the civil rights movement, iconically refused to give up her seat. Her willingness to disobey the rule helped to spark the Montgomery boycott and other efforts to end segregation in America.
Marsha P. (“Pay it No Mind”) Johnson was another pioneer in the trans movement. She helped created STAR with Sylvia Rivera. She was a drag queen, sex worker, and while her gender identity remains questioned in discourse, a lot of trans people claim her as one of their own.
Cecilia Chung, an Asian trans woman living with HIV, has spent her life fighting to end discrimination, stigma and violence across marginalized communities first as the former chair of the San Francisco Human Rights Commission and on the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS.
Of course Michelle Obama!! She has focused on social issues like education and healthy living. She was deeply committed to the well-being of our nation and to the future of its people, especially its children.
One more: Patsy Takemoto Mink devoted her life to advocating for gender equality and educational reform. She is the first woman of color and the first Asian-American woman elected to the House of Representatives. Title IX owes its existence largely to her efforts. So thank you to all of these amazing, intelligent, passionate, beautiful, inspiring women throughout history who are fucking badass. I just had to shed some appreciation to them for changing the world and resonating with me to continue follow in my great aunt’s activism for people of color.
Being loud hasn't worked out for me
My cries have been like white noise to the world
Leaving me voiceless
Silence has been my most powerful scream
Giving me time to realize
I am all that I'll ever need

Water says to the dirty, “Come here.”
The dirty one says, “But I am so ashamed.”
Water says, “How will you be made clean without me?”

When Bram Stroker penned, ' despair has its own calms' I realised the beauty behind hopelessness and helped me make peace with the flow of life.
1. Books
You will read books but don’t be overwhelmed by them. Every finance book reiterates the same thing. Understand the difference between personal, corporate, public, and international finance. Hence there are certain I moody to vocabulary for each field. Once you become family with the basics, it will be easier to understand as you go on.
2. Finance media
Being on top of the financial news is a good way of knowing the finance. You’ll come across real life scenarios of some of your textbook definitions. Watch CNBC, Bloomberg. You can read Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, Kiplinger. You can also check online sources like Investopedia, Nerdwallet, and some interesting ones that include news on fintech.
3. Productivity & tools
My favorite is Notion. I use it to track assignments and projects, Google Calendar is your friend. Know how to use Google Docs. Play with various tools to figure out which you like best.
4. Skills
Knowing how to use Excel and PowerPoint is a pathway to opportunities. Use YouTube first, then try other classes available on Udemy, Coursera, or eDx. Build up skills in modeling and business analysis. Communication and other soft skills should also be worked on.
5. LinkedIn
LinkedIn is very important to network in finance. Start with a professional headshot. You can connect with industry leaders and corporations you’d like to work for. Create a profile that includes your skills, showcase your financial modeling, dashboards, infographics. Be consistent and engaging.
6. Good business wear
A wardrobe of staple work clothes will go a long way for interviews and busy work days. Two to three blazers ( including tweed), a classic work bag, comfortable shoes, formal dress, and pants. The goal is to be business- professional, business-casual, or business-chic.

Break it take that mold you poured me from, that box you put me in will no longer hold me. This life has not been kind to this old stubborn fool but I have gotten back up each time. Today as I lay here admiring the views contemplating my next move your voice is all around me, your message rolling through my head. Rise up and take flight, let go of yesterday's fight. Free yourself from within and accept who you have always been. A beacon of guiding light like the fiery phoenix, you light up the night.

Thank you note!!
Today while writing this, I am falling short of words, the ink from my quill is overflowing and so is the happiness from my little heart overflowing like the ink. I still can't believe there would be this day when I would wake up to, when I would see that I made it up to 200 followers. Sliding through the ups and downs of this roller coaster ride has been more adventurous than the strait paths I have been walking through. Even at the times, when I felt that I reached the ends of the road and the rest of the path seemed misty and unclear. To knock me up and to lead my way like the fireflies through the clear and unclear paths I have come across, it was just the warmth I felt for that few minutes you spent in reading my piece of work. Thank you so much for being a part of my journey, thank you so much for helping me get back on my foot by liking and sharing what I write. Thank you for being the constant support factors behind the screen. Thank you for following me and finding time to read the small things I put up here. Thank you for everything. Looking forward to more and more love and support to keeping myself alive and my quill to write the same way it has been writing. Thank you so much once again to everyone who has been and not been a part of this great day of my life, for grabbing a huge part of my heart, and for being the reason of the brightest smile I wear today.
Thank you so much.🙏
