I hc that Sunny would have these up on her little ipad
looks like ao3 is down again and i was in the middle of a multi chapter fic when it died on me.
and if that happens to you, this is what you can do to download the fic:
copy paste https://download.archiveofourown.org/downloads/00000000/fic.html in your browser url
replace the pink bit with the number right after /works (that's the work id)
for instance, in https://archiveofourown.org/works/44970790/chapters/113154673 the highlighted bit (44970790) would be the number you swap for the 0s
the download link will look like https://download.archiveofourown.org/downloads/44970790/fic.html
if you want the fic to be downloaded as an epub instead, use .epub at the end of that link
it should start downloading on your device
i'm sure a bunch of people know this and use it but in case you don't, hope this helps
you have very good takes <3 a lot of the time I’m split between whether or not I actually ship something or if I just really like a good story and good dynamic. Maybe those are the same thing? But with GanLink I really wish there were more stories for them that explored the dynamic more thoroughly.
I think the way I was imagining their dynamic would be that Ganon is revived as a man, unlike the pig/beast form he’s taken for the past centuries. He would have empathy and emotions this time but he still has a hunger for power. He remembers some of his past, but not very clearly. He takes the weakened hero as a pet, mostly as a show of victory to the crown. He doesn’t realize for some time how badly he desecrated Hyrule in his last reincarnation. He doesn’t like this, at least not anymore. He still wants power, but what is power if you want to enjoy it? This land has nothing to give him, not crops, no art, not even clean water. So he starts gathering resources to start forging this land back into something great again. Something that he can actually feel proud of conquering. All the while he waits for the crown to attack, but they never do. I think Zelda from LoZ 1 would be unique in the way that she’s been a survivor since birth. It’s not like she doesn’t want to rescue Link or defeat Ganon again, but she knows that her kingdom does not have the resources to go to war. She decides to wait for Ganon to do something first and he hasn’t. All the while he’s had Link in a pretty birdcage of a room. He thought this might humiliate him but Link has never been better fed or rested. Oddly enough the hero begins flirting with him. Ganon learns pretty quickly this was just a ploy to draw him in to slay him once again when his guard is down. Oddly enough, the murder attempt is what attracts Ganon’s attention. The hero does start acting more and more like a caged animal after his assassination attempts keep failing while Ganon finds himself feeling more and more like a man (Like as in a person). He then finds himself in the odd position of being in a Cold War with the princess(es), in possession of a slowly maddening hero, and in the process of trying to heal a country he himself destroyed.
I’m sorry 😭 this turned into a short story instead of a response but the questions you asked were so good and I haven’t actually exercised this idea very well until today
thank you <3
Is there a certain version of GanLink that you like best or is it more of the concept itself that you like? I think it’s a really interesting dynamic in general but I think it would be really interesting with a post Adventure of Link Link and a cult revived Ganon.
I am 100% a Hero/Villain shipper if people put in the work to convince me of it, both consensual and not.
Obviously with That Broken Promise, Ganondorf there is a rational person, a good king, the only Triforce wielder with a braincell, and someone that the Curse of Demise had its work cut out for it to warp into doing what it wanted.
But I've also written a lot of Ganondorf's who are still villains, although I personally aim to keep the human-formed version rational with clear and obvious motivations that make sense. I'm only really into omnicidal villains once you leave behind active humanity (Or unless you demonstrate how and why their feelings about the world have been driven over that brink.)
This is only half because it's racist as Hell if you don't; the other half is because it's fucking boring.
eg. Calamity Ganon, a kind of amorphous blob makes sense as an omnicidal villain, as does the Echoes of Wisdom one, but once you drop back into Tears of the Kingdom Ganondorf I want to see that at least at one point he still had reason before it became corrupted, if that makes sense?
So on that front, Adventure of Link reviving with a Doll and being picked up by his revived Ganon could work for me in four or five different ways.
Is he revived as a proper man with real emotions and sympathetic cause? Win. Is he revived as a beast that keeps Link as a pet? Win. Is he revived as a man who has rational desires but still likes the idea of a pet hero? Win. Is he revived as an omnicidal force of nature that wants a trophy? Win. Is he revived as a monster and Link's just sick of this world and into that? Win.
Probably a few other ways that I don't much feel like listing on my main, but you can probably guess from my other works too. So I guess in general it's the concept I like: how DO you make these characters work together? How do you build a relationship that feels substantial with that kind of a polarized starting point that doesn't just handwave away the difficult parts?
Hi. I have a question about your lu soul eater au. What's Dots reaction to Green getting kidnaped and then coming back fused with 3 other people?
Thank you so much for the ask!!! 💕💕💕
Dot, like Green, was also a young kid at the time of his kidnapping so it was very distressing for her. Naturally there were search parties for him, but Vaati was good at hiding so they never found anything.
After search party after party kept failing, she would become more and more upset, begging her father to let her help but being forced to stay inside being a princess. This alone enraged her, but to make matters worse, after the 2nd month of Green missing, they stopped sending out regular search parties. She dipped into her family’s treasury to pay mercenaries to start looking and begged guards she knew to look for him on their off time. She was devastated when they too kept coming back empty handed.
Even worser, close to the half year mark of Green missing, Dot’s father,(do any of the Zelda’s have a living mother???), sits her down and tells her she must continue her studies. She has to start wielding a new weapon. This enrages her but she holds her head high and accepts. She’s paired with another princess from the other side of the kingdom, Fable. She feels as if she betrayed Green on a deeply personal level.
Thankfully, Fable is a good match for her. She’s witty, respectful, and a good listener. Dot is touched when Fable has her own guards search her kingdom for Dot’s missing best friend.
When news of “Green” coming home not himself but a fusion of him and three other boys, Dot is worried. Selfishly, in her own opinion of herself, she hopes that he will remember her.
At first her family and the guard try to keep her away, whispers of “traumatized” and “not the same” floating around. She doesn’t care and sneaks off to find him.
Four is not Green, that she realizes very quickly, but he does remember her. Upon meeting Four, Dot realizes that she still misses Green because he’s still not here. Despite that, she sees him in Four. She’s happy to meet him, feeling bittersweet about the whole thing.
Dot is the first person to recognize Four as somebody who isn’t Green. Sure he is Green, but at the same time he’s not. The palace staff and Four’s own father still treat Four like he’s Green but he isn’t. When Four goes to live with his grandpa, Dot visits him frequently.
A year and a half after escaping Vaati, Four defuses for the first time.He and Dot have a tearful reunion. She realizes that he’s not the same Green that she knew, but she’s not the same either.
survey time^_^ for those of u that were into mcyt when you were younger, who were ur main mcyts back then? and if you wanna add, who do you main now?
are you frequently overstimulated?
Do you guys think Legend, the only other person in the chain who’s (canonically?) aware of the Bible, saw Hyrule walk on water and just
😟
When Twilight goes wolf mode does he retain a fully Hylian mind or does he have some wolf instincts? I haven’t played his game or read the mangas (I’m sorry twilight 😔) so I’m not sure if there’s anything canon for this
what I’m personally picturing is that he obviously retains enough of a Hylian mind to communicate, retain memories well, etc. buuuuuutt
for fun
I think he would have a lot of wolf instincts as a wolf. Like if he’s mad at somebody in the chain he might have half a mind to take a piss in their boots while in wolf mode. Or maybe the chain is admiring some voles or squirrels and Willie comes up and just goes chomp 😭 he’s a little horrified when he switches back to a crying Wind and disappointed Sky
I guess my theory is just basically tame werewolf Twilight 😭
I also think he’d be colorblind, specifically red-green which dogs and wolves have
somebody pls lmk what you think, im pretty sure in canon he can talk to animals which would make him going “chomp” kind of fucked up of him but hey, he’s a wolf, food chain and all
I think one of the juiciest LU AU/plot ideas I’ve seen is the civil war one. (my dumb American ass thought THE’ American civil war the first time I saw a post about it and not marvel civil war)
Like omg the plot is basically the chain comes across some sort of issue or moral conundrum that splits the chain in two where they either start working alone OR against each other
The split has to be crazy tho, like it’s always Legend Vs. Hyrule, something even they can’t agree on. Twilight and Wild split up or Twilight and Time start beefing. Four splits into the colors. Usually poor Wind and Sky are just kind of stressed out by the whole thing.
I wonder what would realistically cause such a rift though. I think it would probably be a situation where they had to kill people or something, like not necessarily Yiga or cult members but maybe a small group of traitors to the crown who start working for Ganon or something. They’re misled for sure, but they’re also causing irreparable harm to Hyrule. Maybe it’s whether or not to answer the call to war.
I think in that case it would be Legend, Wars, Wild, Vio, Green, and maybe Wind for the pro side and Time, Hyrule, Sky, Twi, Red, and Blue for the against side.
I think a lot of tension would come from Legend assuming Hyrule would be willing to attack other Hylians bc they’re both from the same era but it turns out Hyrule is pretty much the only person in his time not down with that kind of stuff. Wild thinks that he’s fine with this kind of stuff, he fights the Yiga on a daily basis after all, but he doesn’t actually remember his time as a soldier. Wind might’ve been influenced by Legend or Wars OR maybe his time in Wars’ era is fresh in his mind. He thinks he can cope again. His fight against Ganon was comparatively so vulgar too. The colors of course are stressed, split down the middle.
UGH I just love the drama of it. I like messy concepts and conflict a lot. If anybody else has thoughts or messy prompts pls share!!
I'd love to hear you ramble about this Soul Eater LU au!
Thank you! You might be my first ever ask
Swan song:
The final act someone does before they die; the final performance of an actor. According to folk lore, swans sing most beautifully and mournfully before they die.
