Headcanon that Albert just gets randomly emotional at night.
Race wakes up at like, 3am to the sounds of sniffling and turns over to see Albert crying his eyes out and Race, while extremely confused because why on earth is he crying at 3am, tries to comfort him and figure out what the fuck is happening.
Race: Al? What's going man, why're ya crying?
Albert, currently sobbing: The worker bees- They only live for th- for thirty days, which means that they- they spend their whole lives working for something they're probably never gonna even gonna see-
Race: Yup, and that's sad, but we're not worker bees buddy, and we have school in exactly four hours, so let's sleep this out, ey?
give me amputee jack. jack who got his hand mangled by a printing press and his father used the last of his money to get him to a hospital. jack has a stump at the middle of his forearm . jack sells more papers not only because he's charismatic but also because his shirt sleeve has a knot tied in it where his left hand would be. jack and crutchie who meet and become close because of their physical ailments.
SPRINTS INTO YOUR ASK BOX, doubles over panting .
javey oneshot in a storm at night, jack stays the night at davey's and they're both exhausted so emotions come to the forefront a little faster than usual .......
PLEASE . PLEASE .... I would cry ..... bee ily so much ... bonus points if jack gets a shower for the first time since Davey has met him and he's all clean and pretty ...

(Note: Iām super sorry that this was so late, but I absolutely loved writing this! I hope you enjoy it, and thank you so much for requesting something! š)
Jack watched Davey from the doorway as the taller boy turned the next page of his book, humming softly to himself and methodically tapping the cover of the book, almost perfectly in time with the rain pummeling the ground outside.
It was darker than it should have been, thanks to the storm, but Jack didnāt mind one bit. Daveyās face looked warm and soft in the candlelight, a far cry from the expression the world usually knew, the one framed by lines of worry and tired eyes.
He seemed so peaceful that Jack felt as if he was watching a moment more private than it was, his friendās outer shell stripped away and leaving him vulnerable.
Davey glanced up, smiling when he saw Jack in the doorway, and a blush spread across the other newsieās face as he crossed his arms in front of his chest, feeling quite small.
āHey, Jackie,ā Davey greeted him, scooting over and patting the ground beside him, not noticing Jackās face getting warmer as he sat down. He nodded at a small bead of water on Jackās arm, left from where he didnāt dry it. āFeel better?ā
āHm? Oh, yeah,ā Jack replied, running a hand through his damp hair. āThanks for lettinā me stay, by the way.ā He shot him a smile. āMeans a lot.ā
āOh, itās no trouble.ā Davey yawned softly, and Jack felt a pang of longing shoot through him, one which he tried to ignore. Thereās no way he feels the same, Jack, he scolded himself.
Gaining a tiny bit of courage, Jack threw a relaxed arm around Davey, nearly nodding off in the combined warmth of both the wool coat heād borrowed and Daveyās form next to him.
He was exhausted. He couldnāt remember the last time heād been this tired- maybe the strike? No matter how long it had been, Jackās mind was in shambles.
He felt Davey shift, wrapping his arms around him, snuggling into his neck. Jack fought back the urge to kiss him right then and there, opting instead to reach over and tangle their hands together, chuckling softly as Davey glanced up at him with a lazy smile.
āYouāre amazing. You know that, right?ā Davey whispered, closing his eyes and leaning into Jackās arms. āI can see why Kath likes you so much.ā
āReally?ā Jack asked, wondering if heād heard him correctly. āWhat does that mean?ā
Davey looked up at him, a peculiar look in his eyes- one that Jack had never seen before, one that told him all he needed to know. You know what it means.
Perhaps it was that look, or maybe the drunken tiredness they both felt, but Jack leaned forward and kissed him, pulling him closer. Daveyās lips were soft, just like heād imagined, and he tasted like cinnamon and warmth. Davey smiled into the kiss, and Jack gave him a final peck before pulling back, still holding him tight.
āItās late,ā Davey muttered, laying his head on Jackās shoulder and closing his eyes. Jack rubbed small circles into his back, his heart full to the brim with love.
āGānight, Dave,ā he whispered. āSleep well.ā
From then until the sun rose, there was no sound save for the rain pattering lightly on the window, soothing the two boys to sleep in each otherās embrace.
javey. dave is performing with an orchestra and has like 3 massive solos, jacks come to support bc why wouldn't he come watch his crush best friend perform the performance of his LIFE.
the performance goes REALLY well, davey absolutely eats it up, and finds jack after the concert and they walk home tgt to their shared dorm. along the walk, davey complains and complains how hot his concert blacks are and then as soon as their dorm door closes, the tie and the shirt and the shoes all come off at once. davey is a master at taking clothes off fast, and now all he's in are a pair of pants fitted very nicely around the waist.
jack falls over dave goes jack what happened are you feeling lightheaded, jack tries to remain suave as this Hot Ass Man is helping him up and rubbing his back consolingly .... then they kiss or whatever

"I guarantee you, you don't want me. You don't."
The words hit Jack like a truck.
When he told himself he was going to finally confess to David today, when he ran through all of the options and avenues for the conversation while on the thirty minute subway ride, he never once considered this option. The option where David thought he wouldn't be good enough, the one where he would say-- that.
Jack's mouth opens and closes for a few moments, the words lodged in his throat, before he chokes out, "What?"
To his credit, David laughs. It's not a happy sound, though- no, it's defeated, and trails off into a sigh at the tail-end of it. As he drops his shoulders, David's gaze flick's to Jack's across the table, before dropping back down to his clasped hands next to his cup of coffee. "You don't want me," David says easily, like it's a fact. Like it doesn't rip Jack in two.
"No, I heard you," Jack says, leaning a little further in, but he makes sure to keep his voice down- he doesn't need the rest of the cafe hearing this. Why he decided to do this in public, he doesn't know anymore, but he felt like he was going to burst out of his skin if he didn't blurt it out. "I just- I don't... get it. What do you mean, I don't want you? I think I know what I want, Dave."
David sighs, shaking his head and giving Jack a desperate, pleading look. "I'm telling you, you don't want-"
"And I'm tellin' you, you don't know what I want or not," Jack cuts in. "And I want you. I want you, and everything you're willin' to give, do you understand?" He stares at David, who is silent, and refuses to meet Jack's eyes.
Jack takes a deep breath and reaches out, gently taking David's hand. David doesn't pull away, but he doesn't grab back. "Look, I... I don't care if you don't want this. That's fine, and we can forget I ever opened my big mouth, okay? But if you- if you're refusin' to give this a shot 'cause you don't think you're good enough... Dave, you can't possibly believe that."
David gulps, his gaze shifting frantically, and he looks like a deer in the headlights. The image makes Jack regret ever saying anything, but when Jack starts to pull his hand away, David stops him with a squeeze. "Do you-" He stops, clearing his throat and staring straight at the wooden table between them. "Do you know how hard it is for... for me to get out of bed every day?"
Jack stays silent. David takes a breath, and closes his eyes.
"It's- It's not that I don't want you, Jackie, 'cause I want you more than you'll ever know," He whispers. "But you... You deserve more than me, okay? You deserve someone who doesn't feel drained every day. Someone who can be... I don't know, happy, without having to try to be. I'm a mess, Jack. You don't want that."
"I don't want that for you," Jack murmurs, squeezing David's hand back. "David, we... we can wait 'til you feel better, or healed, or whatever the fuck it is, but regardless, I don't... I don't need you to change for me to love you, okay? You deserve that, just as you are."
David finally looks up, and gulps hard. "...Love?"
"Yeah. Love," Jack responds.
David's shoulders sink a little, and he nods slowly, his grip on Jack's hand tightening. "I'm broken," David mumbles. "And I-- I know that sounds dramatic, but I've never... I've never been good at this, and you know that. You've been there for all of my breakups."
"Yeah, I have," Jack nods, "and I know that you didn't deserve a damn one of 'em. David, you're a catch, and if people don't get that... That's their problem. Not yours." With a soft sigh, Jack looks down, then shifts in his seat and looks back up at David. "You don't have to make a decision now. We can talk this out when you want, 'kay? The ball's in your court, Dave, but... You ain't broken. I swear."
"Jack..."
"There's a difference between broken and bruised," Jack murmurs. "Okay? You... You might be goin' through a rough patch. You might be hurtin', and that fuckin' sucks, but that don't mean you're beyond repair. You said the same damn thing about me."
David gulps hard, then uses his free hand to rub his eyes. "I... I don't know if I'm ready for-... I'm sorry..."
Jack shakes his head. "You got nothin' to apologize for, okay? If you need to wait, we wait."
"I want to," David explains. "I-... I really, really want to try with you, I just..."
"It's okay," Jack whispers. "I promise."
"Promise," David whispers back.
They finish lunch. They go to the park, then to a bar. They table it for a month and a half before David takes the plunge and kisses Jack. A bruised heart just takes a little time, and Jack Kelly would wait an eternity and a half for David Jacobs.
