yes it was the 80s. but WE aren't in the 80s, its a show about fucking demons and superpowers. using queer characters to uplift straight couples, killing off queer coded and neurodivergent coded characters for NOTHING and inflicting so much violence on black people out of nowhere is a terrible thing.

"oh but in the 80s there were these issues!" yes. but are the issues talked about? no. they're thrown in the show and basically never addressed correctly. its a fucking disgrace full of prejudice that aren't touched upon seriously.

basically the message is "if you're queer, neurodivergent and/or black, then you're supposed to sacrifice yourself for the ones above you (straight, neurotypical, white) so that they can grow ❤️"

Billy looked down at the tiny but well wrapped package of rage and fury that was Nancy Wheeler and sneered.

“Neither do you, Wheeler so I don’t exactly see where the problem is. Steve’s a big boy. He can make his own decisions.”

“He can but he’s easily manipulated and -.”

“Is that why you two got together?” Billy snidely interjects.

“Oh, fuck you, Hargrove.”

“No thanks, sweet cheeks. You’re not my type.”

Nancy huffed.

“I don’t see what Steve sees in you but you better take care of him, Hargrove.”

“Don’t worry, sweet cheeks. I’ll take better care of him than you ever did. After all, what we have isn’t bullshit.”

Billy walked away, leaving Nancy fuming. He knew that Steve would probably make him pay for that later but she had no right questioning their relationship when she had clearly sabotaged theirs.
