reblog drrr comic shizaya a cheap imitation shigaeru this monstrous shizuo panel looks so raw the textures and shadows and hatching and cool collar flowing in the wind!! this izaya pose split between panels also has a nice theatre kid energy to it i like the vibe little shizuo rolling up his sleeves stomping over ready for a fight so cute <3 hey the way these next two panels of izaya flow is really nice i can imagine the weighty way he sort of swings his head back up the kind of movement you'd put in an amv the dialogue leading into an empty page is cooool and the little specks of black with the flow are a great touch ahh your shizuos are the best i love his rage and the way his collar sort of emotes with it have i shown my appreciation for continuing to draw the cut izaya got on his arm yet? big fan of the way izaya looks a little limp when shizuo grabs at him been thinking about ch31 shizuo grabbing izaya's wrist midair and holding it up while izaya looks at him with the soggiest expression anyways this is the first time shizuo's actually properly holding izaya and not just pulling at his clothes so your raijin redraws are all rizzed up shizuo is the cutest and izaya's the smarmiest the panel of them from the side is so shape <33 i know that little finger prod shook him to his bones they already feel weird without shizuo's strength the shizuo L panel shdgshd “ok fuck!” the little shizuo here haha oh my goddd seeing the next panel again is crazy because i had that as my discord pfp for a while back when i first fell into this hole obviously i think they look really cute there and the monochromes over them are pretty <3 izaya's blank shock !! shizuo's hand there is also looks really gentle ahh nice sentiment shizuo but he's definitely still fucked up over it and now you're being really weird sooo keep it up king :) the izayas in these last two pages are incredibly <3333 i love how extremely *crumpled* he looks!! the last expression we see from him and the gangly armed poses and the way he puts his hood up the way shizuo looks at him though shdsgs i get why it sounds so stupid to izaya

a light tarot reading, because i'm still fond of what i cooked up here. expect allusions to the ending of aci and general detailing of my intentions throughout. some nuances omitted because i want to see if anyone else catches on to them....

probably the most obvious thing is the card itself, wheel of fortune. generally it suggests change, cycles, some big turning point in your life. with the eye cutout slashing through the sphinx i meant to encapsulate izaya's plan of flipping the wheel over on the game makers and throwing them under an imitation of their own work.

there's a distinction in the meaning of the card when it's upright or reversed. looking inward, the card reads upright towards him and reversed as presented to the onlooker. throughout the chapter there's a lot of emphasis on the lack of sincere connections he has, how no one seemed to reach out genuinely concerned about his absence. his attention drifts to his phone a lot as he works, and he continues to work until the end of the chapter which i'll leave here.

it's hard for me to articulate but i hope you can see how i also wanted to convey izaya's personal development at this point of the fic.

less obvious is the positioning of izaya's finger keeping the lion out of view. i know shizuo is technically an aquarius but that thing looks boring and i'm not partial to the zodiac anyways so to me he's the lion in reference this bit from the first chapter.

you could also read shizuo as the bull hidden beneath izaya's shadow which i was also considering as a nod to a bull charges at the stirring of a cape. regardless it can work both ways in keeping him out of view for this part of the plan.

and this one just fell into place for me but wheel of fortune happens to be the element of fire!! which if you know you know.

there's a lot i tried to work into this composition and i have to thank rosa again for putting up with me and making it look amazing.... collaboration with me is pretty intensive but rewarding to see the initial ideas get visually realized.

durarara shizaya izaya orihara i made a thing i wrote a thing a cheap imitation chapter 49 pretty heavily revised from march 21st 2024 i might share process sketches and dms in a separate post so it looks neater and i have more time to draft it and i could throw in more pics lol there was a lot of back and forth with this one even after i'd figured out the broad strokes i wanted to convey in the piece i ended up having to do a face reveal in taking direct photos of myself at the particular angle and pose i wanted and certain things changed as we tried to make it work the scars were rosa's idea she snuck them in with the lineart and really wanted to have them so i just told her to flip the comp 👍 an added layer to this was to reference the tarot card pieces rosa made for her own ocs https://twitter.com/RosaMaltz/status/1630957731610804226 to imitate them so to say it grew a lot from there but that was the initial root of the idea to this piece i actually came up with the idea for chapter 50 a while before this and that one felt like a deep cut reference that only note could appreciate in full so from there i tried to come up with something rosa would be able to appreciate to help balance it out lol i was already really struggling to come up with anything for this chapter and that helped narrow down the scope and the thought of tarot cards struck me as i recalled some signalis gameplay i'd briefly tuned into earlier that day signalis was also what inspired the previous chapter's wallet idea anywayyys i yearn for someone to notice these decisions and feel excited about them articulate stuff i am bad at articulating here it's my fave thing to do with other people's work and this one is like made made for it moreso than the others

reblog drrr shizaya izaya orihara shizuo heiwajima potatofu your drrr art kills me every time i am so so happy that you're still drawing art for them it's bangers every time thank you i hope you enjoy your stay <3 anyways the art itself hsjgadgfadhc the vibe the cramped little apartment that's still all too empty shizuo looking out at his reflection against an izayaless ikebukuro his hunched over form i love the smoke just the misery it evokes and how it entirely permeates the room just from a cigarette butt like a certain something that he should have put out ages ago but continues to haunt him i love izaya's expression it's so it's his own brand of guilt he looks very pretty i like how you have his red glow reach shizuo's side it's just a neat detail and looks really nice perhaps it's also symbolic but i realise i've probably been reaching here anyways this is great it reminds me of certain lines from the gift of hands by onewhodiedyoung like ''if just like him mairu inhales smoke so she doesn't have to breathe in the lack of izaya'' maybe because i'm obsessed with that fic but it's written so beautifully that i hope you take the comparison as a compliment

reblog hibiya amamiya kgpr critai ahhhh it's been dayyys idk how i can do all of them >_< i really want to try though because i really like these aaa i'm also just trying to get back into the habit of tagging anyways this composition!! i just find the layered crosswalks thing sooo cool that drafting you went through was so worth it because this way of portraying the loop feels so visually intuitive and unique ughhhh just yeah the crosswalk is already a major daze symbol but presenting it here in this repeated toppling manner is just !! really emphasises the feeling of endlessly trying to get to the other side and not *that* other side and winding the poles and stuff through the crosswalks?? idkkkk how to articulate it but i looove that visualising how the loops are all so intertwined with each other and everything starts to blend in you miss one threat you get hit by another and that first threat still comes back the next loop and every one after it the varied poses of each of the hibiyas with fresh ways to die the first hibiya falling into the loops with the nice inclusion of the clock and phone from the og pv the descending into the shadows (very cool) the kitty!! just watching perched on the side second last hibiya looking like he actually tried to go off the course of the crosswalk but it still manages to keep him there the last hibiya curled up!! so cuuuute and sadd :( the little moon and stars down there as the little hopeful not to otsukimi i like that it's ceiling glow decor coloured gives it childlike whimsy also really like that you emulated this particular style sidu has used for certain arts idk what it's referred to the one with the character's dominant colour you know what i mean

''why do you need to know?'' ''so i can call you by your name obviously'' ''your loss shizu-chan'' during marbles izaya yaks on about how fascinating it is that the games reinforce human connections by making them choose teams to work tog right before violently ripping them apart by pitting them against their partner of choice of course they all would've had to go against each other eventually if they want to win but by taking advantage of the all too human weakness to latch on to their personal attachments in spite of the lack of information it serves as the most devastating reminder of the nature of these games that they've all signed up to all the while maintaining their idea of personal autonomy but we won’t have to worry about that because you're a monster aren’t you shizu-chan? in my mind this izaya came here to observe human nature when pit against each other like this and get away with some bank while he's at it and if you want to go with ji yeong’s backstory he’s already taken the life of a human who should’ve been a meaningful connection to him so he’s probably aci style lost about what to do with himself but the least he can do is prove that this dumb brute is a monster by giving haha sorry for going off in the tags but holy shit you just gave me another brain worm thanks

reblog shuuya kano kgpr marry kozakura tsubomi kido kousuke seto critai oh dear i'm starting to get carried away with other things so i've gotta finish this now if you do eventually make solo pieces for the leftover dans though i think i'd still be very eager to return for those 🐈‍⬛ maybe something for next august 15th? i'd wait anyways the combining of different mv themes is really cool and i like they way you worked them together in this composition everyone has their own sort of layer so it feels like you're unravelling down from 4 to 3 to 2 to 1 like a minecraft dropper level <- i have no idea how else to refer to it marry framing the comp with the white sheet really brings it all together like she's uncovering the stories i'm not super familiar with her songs tbh but i feel like that makes sense? with her? also tryna shield herself with it sorta is cute i like the shape of it btw it has a nice guiding eye effect and just looks cool idk the black loomy shadows right beneath it for kanoooo ma boyyy and they've got mysterious spray paint markings hidden among them i like the ones that are like shadows for his legs very cool with the bleed effect too 👁️ what do the stars mean though... love that you drew kano <3 he's so cute with his sillie smile and lounging pose lying in the shadows i also like how his lines kinda have this shine to them in the shadows and red highlights in the light idk i really like that for him!! seto and little seto are cute beneath the dappled light and the way he's looking out at us like he's reading our mind maybe kido!! finally we get to see her fully she looks great the shapes of her hair are so satisfying including the ones peeking in from the side the way you used this familiar setting with the layering and greenery and then the open window to frame kido?? i loove her song integration the way the light falls over her face is so pretty <3 i quite like the splashes of colour you leave around the place in your rendering nooo your file crashing ;o; i didn't get to see any concept sketches for this so i'm curious if you had other ideas too or if this was literally done straight ahead real quick for ayano the way she's like hugging herself and the pages flowing through like yay she saved them!! but nooo her scarf is trailing up like she's falling and the pages are flying out from her grasp so like aw she does so much 🥺

Came up with a Pathologic AU with @letterdaisy on twitter and now I’m obsessed

Izaya is a doctor from the capital who came to a rural town to investigate a case of exceptional longevity and to find the secret to immortality, but got stuck there during a plague outbreak. Shizuo is a local bone setter who, because he got accused of murder and violently defended himself in a fight, is seen as a ripper. He has trouble coming to term with the role of healer that’s been attributed to him. They end up having to work together to face the plague, even though their methods and views differ widely.
