Hello My Fellow Hufflepuff šŸ’› I’m Here To Give You Those D9 Thoughts! I Love Yapping Abt Them So

hello my fellow hufflepuff šŸ’› i’m here to give you those d9 thoughts! i love yapping abt them so thanks for giving me the chance!

i agree!! they should absolutely be stronger contenders than what were shown. they should at least be on par with 11 since they’re similar industries. the only thing i can think of it a difference in culture, maybe? the people on 9 tend to be more adverse to violence and sort of…accept their fate?

i do think it’s a big district land wise and things are probably pretty spread out due to the farmland! population wise, i think you could make an argument that it’s big due to the industry being similar to 11. however, i actually lean towards it being one of the smaller districts.

i think that because of the location of district 9- based on the map of panem we have, district 9 would be in nebraska & the dakotas (though i think the majority is more nebraska). the dakotas are both in the list of the 10 least populated states and nebraska isn’t that far behind.

do you have any thoughts on 9?

I would be inclined to agree with you, that it is a big District in size but not very populated. Bigger than 12, for sure. They are also not as poor as D12. If each District is assigned a colour that stays the same every year for their tributes, I think 9’s colour would be yellow. I also think 9 fly under the radar a bit, they are generally hard-working and don’t cause trouble. I think the food-based Districts have to meet certain quotas so I think as long as they are made, they get fairly well fed. Maybe they have harvest festivals with necklaces and bracelets made from wheat stalks and adorned with salt dough flowers and have songs and dances they perform then.

Last song: I have had Popular from Wivked on the brain since I saw the movie, does that count!

Favourite colour: teal, purple and red, but honestly, I like most colours so rainbow 🌈

Last Book: last one I remember was the last volume of The Seven Sisters, which was about the father who adopted the aforementioned seven sisters. It was probably the bes5 book in the series.

Last movie: A French film about Sarah Bernhardt’s life. It was really boring, my dad and I both fell asleep during it!

TV Show: Currently watching Season 19 of Law and Order SVU. I am really enjoying the new characters, especially Carisi. Rollins is great too, she reminds me a little bit of Jeffries ( Munch’s partner in S 1 and 2) and it’s great to have a female friend for Olivia, as well as having anothe4 female character to look up to. Fin continues to be brilliant and I love Olivia a lot. Barba took a while to warm up to, but I think he is pretty great. At first he was v much a serious guy who was there to just do his job and he came across as a bit cold.

Sweet/Savoury/Spicy: I am a spice wimp, so, depending on my mood, either savoury or sweet, though I do always have to finish a meal with a dessert, so mainly sweet.

Relationship Status: chronically single!

Last thing I googled: Peter Scanavino’s age and what his children are called. He’s only a couple of years older than me!

Something I am looking forward to: My niece’s first birthday in May and my parents’ Golden Wedding Anniversary celebration extravaganza with the whole family in August.

Thoughts on Season 17 of SVU

What an opening episode! My hate for Dr Yates is immense, it has no limit! He must have been investigated when Stabler was still there, somewhere between Season 5 and 8, as it was apparently 10 years ago. However I can find zero episodes that feature him during that time frame!Ā

Yates is so creepy, so calm and so sleazy!Ā

Carisi is an excellent cop, he works really hard, has excellent instincts, takes instruction/feedback well and takes initiative when appropriate. He also sometimes spots things that his colleagues have missed or has a novel way of approaching the case/victim/suspect.

He is always actively observing how his colleagues handle situations ( victims, suspects, the big cheeses in charge…) and everything that’s going on in the courtroom. He’s obviously really into his legal studies as he’s accompanying Barba when he’s dealing with that side of things.

In a few years ( I stopped watching when S 12 finished), everyone seems much more accepting/open-minded and mindful of the language they use regarding trans females/males ( currently on episode 2 with the trans teen girl) and sex workers/drag queens… Some of the language used by the team in the first few seasons is really shocking, and some of them are really judgemental ( yes, Stabler, I’m looking at you!) when it comes to mental health and sex/gender issues.Ā

The tech is also much improved, as the earlier seasons were all about the dangers of this new-fangled internet and Stabler didn’t even have a cell phone until quite late.Ā

Wish Fin had taken the sergeant’s exam, would have meant no nepotism from William Dodds and his spy of a son taking on the job. I haven’t met him yet but hate him on principle!Ā

Ā I remember how annoyed Fin was that Munch took and passed the sergeant’s exam behind everyone’s back, possibly on a dare/because he lost a bet, so nice callback/continuity there.Ā

Lots of big names in supporting/guest roles: Sean Robert Leonard and Whoopi Goldberg that I can name, but lots of faces that are familiar to me.Ā

The pronunciation of some names in French is still appalling!

In the overworked social workers episode, the dubbers made Keisha/Keysha sound like Petit Chat ( Little Cat, which is used a lot as a term of endearment from French parents towards their little kids) and Keith sounds like a cross between Kiss and Keys ( the ā€œthā€ sound is notoriously difficult for French people to master).

Just watching the baby shower episode and snorted at Fin’s comment about not having any idea how Mike Dodds got the sergeant’s job. He always seems to say what everyone else is thinking but doesn’t dare to say.

So far, Dodds seems competent and not too annoying, so that’s good. His dad however really got my heckles up by telling Olivia how to organise her team and do her job.Ā

Really not fans of Amanda’s mum and sister, they are walking disasters.

Was also disappointed by Carisi’s gift to Amanda for the baby shower. A wipe warmer is just so impersonal even though it is practical and recommended by his sister. I feel a bit cheated as we haven’t seen Carisi being awesome with his niece, or at least mentioning her from time to time.Ā

Criminal Minds Season 15

Figured out the first episode unsub almost immediately. The JJ and Reid storyline was beyond stupid/ridiculous!Ā  Looking at pics from earlier episodes, Emily’s hair looks atrocious. I think I remember hearing she had a wig in later seasons, and I think that might just be the case!Ā  The Chameleon arc is interesting, hope they catch him soon.

I am enjoying Penelope in this episode, taking charge of an investigation!Ā  I hope Spencer’s mum doesn’t die, but I have a feeling she might.

Is there a specific episode/moment that made you fall in love with Carisi?

I loved how good with the kids he was with the ultra-Christian vlogging family, how he didn’t judge his sister for considering an abortion when her partner was in and out of her life, how respectful he was of everyone when he joined the team ( always using their rank, taking on board their constructive criticism/feedback and letting them take the lead, while also managing to get himself opportunities to try to do things without help, volunteering for the boring/tedious jobs, making sure everyone on the team was included in social events and inviting people who were having a hard/sad/bad time to join him or others for socialising/food). How he cares for Amanda throughout her pregnancy with Jesse and once she has given birth… So lots of little things from the start ( he arrives with zeppole, which was a nice touch for a guy who shows his affection for those he loves by providing foid for them) that all added up over time. Also Liv asking him to be Noah’s guideparent after only knowing him a year or so says a lot about his character. If Liv or Fin think the person is a good one/innocent, they are usually right, so that also helped consolidate my feelings for him. He’s just a kind, funny, hard-working family man who talks about his feelings and dreams.

Evidently, losing the god awful moustache helped a lot too!

Criminal Minds rewatch William Reid

I am currently re-watching Season 4 and have got to the start of the Riley Jenkins episodes.

I am struck by Diana’s repeated assertion ofĀ ā€œ You were in danger. A mother knowsā€ and how it could relate to William Reid potentially sexually abusing Spencer, which has been discussed here in quite a lot of detail. He comes in, sits on Spencer’s bed and Spencer pretends to be asleep, plus some other details I cannot recall make it seemĀ ā€œoffā€Ā , coupled with Spencer having completely blocked out his childhood and perhaps now, subconsciously pinning the blame on the male he is genetically related to for Riley Jenkins is his way of dealing with it. The fact that William just leaves and that Diana, in her lucid moments, never thinks to have Spencer spend time with him just makes me suspect that perhaps she thought William could be molesting Spencer.Ā

More Thoughts on Law and Order Organised Crime Seasons 1 and 2

Throughout Season 1 and 2, I love that we see Bernie and Elliot going to feed the ducks independently of each other.

I think Elliot says he grew up in this area, when he goes to dig out the bullets he shot into a tree when his dad was teaching him how to use a gun, so it would be somewhere he went fairly regularly as a child with Bernie, which is confirmed by what Bernie says when she thinks the young child feeding the ducks near her is Elliot. I guess it was her way of protecting Elliot and herself from Joe’s alcoholic rages and violence.Ā

Once again, the casting director/team did a great job finding a kid who realistically looked like young Elliot, both for that scene and for the home videos at the end of the Season 2 ep. The actors for young Joe and BernieĀ  were perfect too.Ā

While I think it is good that Elliot had some good memories of his father, we know that the smallest thing could send him into a violent rage as in S7, Elliot says he moved a tree on the diorama they had worked on together and Joe threw it on the floor and stomped on it until it was destroyed, then beat Elliot for crying about it ( and probably beat him again for getting an F). The scenes we see of them together in the home videos made me think of how Elliot interacted with his kids when they were little as well as when they were older, but Elliot is consistent in always doing that.Ā

I like to think Elliot took his kids to feed the ducks, maybe even going to the same place he went.Ā

Eli’s decision to join the police force I think must have been sparked by the brand new officer who helps him when he runs away and is going to jump off the bridge, as Eli grew up with Elliot no longer in SVU, just doing security and less dangerous police work. I’m sure he heard about what Elliot did from his siblings and maybe Elliot himself, and, like most little boys, I’m sure he thought it was super cool that his daddy was a detective. So maybe he was thinking about it then the interaction with the police officer really solidified that idea in his mind.Ā

I also really like how Eli is super protective of his family, just like Elliot is. He’s also just as stubborn as his father and 3 out of 4 of his siblings. He also internalises his feelings until they come out as anger and has trouble asking for help, just like his dad.Ā

Eli wanting to jump off the bridge made me think of Dickie wanting to join the Marines in Turmoil, S 11, as they both seem to think it will be easier if they go away and stop disappointing their dad.

Gotcha! Reunited, Part 1

So here is the first part of my post Season 15 fic, where Hotch returns to Quantico, bumps into Penelope and they renew their friendship, which deepens into something more… I don’t know how to do theĀ ā€œKeep readingā€ cut off thing, sorry. Any ideas for an overall and chapter titles gratefully appreciated!

Ā« Auntie Nellie-Pie! Auntie Nellie-Pie! Ā»

Penelope swivelled around, eyes wide and mouth agape as she scanned the stationery aisle of the supermarket for the source of the voice which contrasted so sharply with the childlike nickname that nobody had called her for almost a decade.

Her eyes fell on a tall youth with green eyes, hair the colour of wet sand and a smile she would recognise anywhere, as it was accompanied by familiar dimples in his cheeks.

She promptly dropped the notebook she’d been examining as it dawned on her who the teenager was.

Ā« Oh my goodness, it can’t be! But it is! Jackers! I thought I’d never see you again! Ā»

Potential purchases forgotten on the floor, she rushed to embrace him.

Ā« Oh, Aunt Penny, I’m glad to see you too, but I also enjoy breathing! Ā» Jack exclaimed as she pulled back to cup his face after hugging him close.

Ā« Ā Oh, sorry, sweetheart! It’s just been so long! You have no idea how devastated I was when your dad just vanished with you overnight. How is that dad of yours anyway? You probably get this all the time, but you look so much like him! Ā»

Ā« Yeah, dad’s fine. Old but fine! Are you still with the BAU? Ā» he questioned.

Ā« Oh no, I gave that up recently. Everyone decided to leave so I am now an IT freelancer. So much less gross than the cases I had to present to your dad and the team. You’re starting high school, right? Ā» she inquired.

Ā« Ā Yeah, going to be a freshman! Dad thought it best to stay where we were until I finished middle school, though we were both itching to come back-hey, Dad! Over here! Ā» He signalled to his father who had reached the end of the aisle, with a look of concern etched upon his face.

Ā« Hey, buddy, did you find what you nee-uh, Penelope! What a lovely surprise! Ā»

Aaron’s jaw fell open and his eyes grew larger as he recognised the blonde woman wearing an outfit that looked like a parrot and a peacock had mated.

A second later, he was engulfed in a cloud of fair curls, glittery jewellery and an affectionate embrace.

Ā« Hello Si…um, Hotch, sorry! Ā» she chirped, wiping away the traces of scarlet lipstick from his cheek that she had impulsively kissed, as she pulled away from her former boss.

Ā« It’s so good to see you! When you left without saying goodbye, which I completely understand, time was of the essence and your priority was and always should be your son, but I think you remember how well I handle change… Ā» she trailed off, biting her lip as her eyes welled up and averting her gaze from his.

Ā« If you’re still the same Penelope Garcia I knew back then, that would either be a) extremely badly or b) not at all Ā» he replied, his tone full of affectionate teasing and a small smile playing on his lips, activating his dimple.

Ā« Are you stil living in your apartment? Ā» he asked.

Ā« Indeed I am, I’m a creature of habit, Si… Sorry, I must stop calling you that! How about you, where are you and Jack staying? Ā»

Ā« We’ve found a house near the high school, not too far from Jess’s and close to my work. We’ll have to have you and the rest of the team for a housewarming. Ā»

Ā« Oh, that would be lovely! Rossi is up to his eyeballs in grandpa duties, as Joy had two more boys back-to-back, and he re-married Hayden a few years ago, JJ and Will moved back to New Orleans with my darling godsons, as Will has got a new job as head of the police force. Spencer is teaching at the university while also studying for degree number 563, Emily has settled in London, she does simultaneous translation for immigrants, Morgan is still in Chicago, he’s made a real name for himself doing house renovations and Savannah has just had a little girl called Charlotte. Tara’s training to teach psych at high school, she’s going to be awesome! Do you remember Matt Simmons? He’s opened a gym and Luke Alvez is a personal trainer there. As for me, I’m teaching coding classes at the community centre, being a freelance tech help person as well as giving internet safety talks in schools. How about you, former fearless leader? Ā»

Ā« I’ll be teaching law and criminology at the local university. I already noticed that Spencer’s going to be my colleague, so that will be interesting. It’s so great to hear everyone’s news, you really were the lynchpin that connected everyone. Look, you’ll have to come round for drinks and dinner to catch up properly-would Thursday evening at 8 suit you? Ā»

Ā« Sure, Sir, oops, Hotch! Ā» she replied, eyes lighting up and a wide smile spreading across her face.

The two exchanged numbers and addresses before parting ways.

sorry to advice you to lower drastically your expectation for now on 'cause season 24-25 (and current 2) new showrunner sucks royally, can't write svu storylines nor he's able to write/develop new characters', quality is going down especially after ep9 :/

I know we get a Carisi-Rollins wedding, so there’s that to look forward to. Your Honour, I love them! Shame the character development/creation and plotlines decline after early Season 24. I have also been watching OC, which had a pretty dreadful third Season, so as long as it’s not as bad as that, I’ll live. Thanks for the heads up though!
