i know that it’s been said in the book that Darry’s relationship with his parents was great but the potential of him having been deeply hurt by them but putting up a pretence that all was well with their relationship in order to preserve Ponyboy and Sodapop’s memory of them is so scrumptious. The idea of him having been physically abused in some way as a small child and later swearing that he would never do the same, but then seeing his father in the mirror for months after he hits Ponyboy.
