Strong take but idc

The idea of Cait and vi falling out because of jinx is so funny in a not funny way because she's literally out here avenging someone who's responsible for the upholding of an oppressive system that killed her parents AND subjected her to seven years of abuse but can somehow get onto vi for still caring about her sister? Like ppl going "omg her moms probably dead" ok and? Vi and jinx parents are probably dead bc of her mom too lmao. Just goes back to the whole everyone is guilty theme. If she can still care about that pos who immediately dehumanizes her gf to the point of going all tyrannical then vi can still care about the one who murked her.

This is also for all those idiots who like to frame vi still loving her sister as a "betrayal" to caitlyn...

Just reread the book, and anyone who says Steve Randle is barely character is lying or didn't read the book. He's not the most developed character but we know so such about him.

He dislikes Ponyboy but loves Soda, letting him comfort him and never fighting with him. He's got a violent temper. He snaps at Ponyboy when he kept prodding the topic of Sandy leaving became it was upsetting Soda. He says he fights for hatred, to give back to the Socs the hurt they cause them, to genuinely hurt them. He's even compared to Bob, that if Soda had died then Steve would've kept on fighting and hurting while Soda (like Randy) wouldn't have.

He generally is a bit snappish, even with the others. He's mentioned to have cried over Johnny and Dally (like of course everyone grieved and cried but it's interesting that Pony notes him crying on three seperate occasions, while none of the others were mentioned crying).

He's also sarcastic and blunt, sometimes a little insensitive in his humor (called Darry 'no brains and all brawn' which upset him). He can sometimes give off the impression that he doesn't care much (Ponyboy is surprised Steve ran to find Dally when they got that phone call). He hates his dad because they have huge arguments where he kicks him out for a week and then gives him some money to make up for it. He's scarily good with cars, both at driving and fixing them.

i will forever defend cherry valance bcs she didn't do anything wrong. she legit told ponyboy "i might not say hi" AND THEN YALL WANNA BE PRESSED ABOUT THE FACT SHE FOLLOWED THROUGH? AND SHE DIDNT WANNA SEE THE GUY WHO KILLED HER BOYFRIEND? SHE DIDN'T EVEN KNOW JOHNNY SHE TALKED TO HIM LIKE ONCE?

I love all the Court Jester vibes incorporated in Jinx's design without them putting her in an actual jester costume.

The shoes, the striped pants, even her braids which, at least to me, are reminiscent of a cap 'n bells. The result is she has the feel of a creepy evil jester......

....... while still looking like a cool punky teenage fighter with the crop top, choker, tattoos, and belts.

jinx: rebel or people pleaser?

jinx is dependent on feeling useful to others, so she should be easy to control, but that cant be more further than the truth. jinx is a rebel, but she bases her worth in others' validation and willing to mold and change herself to whatever idealized personality the person she likes prefer.

its like, is the show indecisive on these parts of her character? bcs how could both these traits exist together in one person?

the way i figure, jinx is a people pleaser, and whats unique with her having this trait is that jinx would make great sacrifices and go above and beyond to be useful or to make you happy, but only in ways she understands or finds acceptable

jinx has the need to try to please those around her (specifically the ppl she fixates on) even to the point of willing to shape herself into an idealized mold of their liking, bcs she believes thats a sure way to become closer to them anď not be abandoned. however, she learned that not everything she's asked to do would grant her closeness. following some requests would lead to her becoming more abandoned or less important (vi asking her to stay behind. silco commanding her to 'focus on her gadgetry')

and thats what jinx really wants to be, to be important enough for you. its not really enough for her to feel useful. she wants to matter in your life. furthermore, she wants to be the one who matters in your life the most. if someone else takes that place, she'll do whatever it takes to convince you that she's second to no one. being second might as well mean the same as being abandoned to her.

take for an example, in a setting where jinx joins the firelights and fixates on ekko's validation. you'd think that if ekko asked jinx to do things like make toys for the firelight children, do errands, etc, she would do all of those things to please him. and maybe she would, if it meant becoming important to him.

but no, role-wise the one who is the most important to ekko is scar. would babysitting and tinkering make her more important than scar? if not then at some point jinx wont be happy doing those things and switch to whatever tasks she believes would make her more important than scar even if it means going behind ekko's back. and usually it involves grandiose, over the top methods that no one other than jinx would have the stomach to do, making sure what she does is something only she is capable of contributing

if jinx trusts the things you ask of her will promise her the position as your most relied and important person, she wont find a need to act out on her own and be your little puppet

the thing with jinx though is that her mind always finds a reason to detect mistrust, even when there really isn't any. so an obedient jinx is the same as impossible ajdkdk

thats why jinx's 'people-pleaser' behavior and craving to feel useful is more self-fulfilling than it is self-sacrificng. its why even though she has this trait, it wouldnt magically turn her into a doormat or obedient dog for you and why she's easy to influence but near impossible to control.

i have something to say and everyone might not like it but as a caitlyn apologist, jinx had every right to blow the council to pieces, regardless of what happens to caitlyn’s mother. after everything they’d done to the undercity and it’s people they had it coming and i’ll never fault jinx for that. she watched enforcers beat her people senseless (and kill them) on what is probably countless occasions. her sister the proceeds, from her pov, team up with someone in the same uniform, and not just an enforcers uniform, but a progress day uniform to commemorate a city of oppressors and a symbol of the bridge her parents died on trying to make a way for their children. i’m tired of the ‘they didn’t know’ discourse. piltover will never be in the right for what they’ve done to the undercity and they never will be. .

caitlyn and vi might want to do the right thing and help but they are surely not the majority and they definitely won’t stop the decades of struggle that the sick went through and a bombed council definitely won’t erase it and imo it was the least of what the council deserved for what they did to the people in the undercity. and even ekko (one of the most morally sound character imo) in league lore considers vi a traitor to the undercity, and before y’all start this is not a caitlyn and vi slander post or hate think peice, it is the reality that y’all would rather acknowledge that jinx bombed the council rather than think about why she did it.

i’ll be severely disappointed if they turn s2 into a jinx purely being the villian arc because i feel like that would not only be lazy/shitty writing but a misjudge of what is already an amazing character could be. and another thing, caitlyn stan’s who dislike jinx and vice verse heavily misinterpret their characters, which is also very annoying, they both do what they do for a reason, but caitlyn is not dumb and pretentious, and jinx is not an inherently evil or bad person.
