The Root Chakra

Working my way up the body, in chakras!

To heal your chakra, work through the emotional issues listed under the overactive/underactive. Include some foods or scents in your daily diet/routine. Say the mantras a few times a day, with meaning (modify them to your taste and by your intuition). You can also always just meditate on the location and imagining a bright light that is the color of the chakra on its corresponding place on the body. 

What is it:

The root chakra is the first chakra in the body chakra system (the seven main chakras). It sits at the base of your spine, near the tailbone. It is in charge of feelings of security, survival needs, and protection. It connects you to the element of earth.

Color:

Red, anywhere from deep to bright, depending on the person.

Garnet

Ruby

Bloodstone

Obsidian

Red Jasper

Coral

Scents and Foods Associated to it:

Dandelion root tea

Root vegetables (carrots, potatoes, radishes, parsnips, beets)

Onion

Garlic

Strawberries (also for the sacral)

Myrrh

Angelica Root

Body Parts it Influences:

Senses of taste and smell

Oxygenated blood (in the arteries)

Muscular system

Excretory organs (rectum, urinary tract)

Reproductive organs (the sacral chakra also helps this)

Energy it Influences:

Primal sexual energy, sexual urges

Expulsion of toxins and negative energy

Grounding energy, keeping your spirit in your body

When it is overactive:

Restlessness

Need/dependence on material objects

Over-obsessing over a material object

Selfishness

Overexercising

Uncontrolled sex drive

Aches on tailbone, or in legs and feet

Wanting to manipulate others

Confusion

When it is underactive:

Lack of energy

Loss of interesting in the physical world or being in your body

Dissociation and outer body experiences

Aches on tailbone, or in legs and feets

Inability to sexually perform

Apathy to the world and to other people

Unclear of your life’s purpose

Confusion

Emotional Traits:

Self esteem and confidence in your body (not for other people to like, but you enjoying how your body feels)

Trusting in others and yourself

Trust in the universe

Emotional stability
