I dreamt of a million rats racing towards their desires in life dressed up as humans with coats and tie with dresses and heels and I was glad that I wasn’t in any part of it – for the thing about always working and working and hustling towards a certain pursuit of happiness is that people tend to forget that the special things in life are found when you’re comfortably at peace with yourself: singing along to love songs during midnight, watering your garden, writing in your diary, appreciating the silence and not worrying all the time if what you’re doing is productive or not since we’re not made to be robots. Sometimes it’s best to let the things you love make you feel inspired and happy and trust that your life is still meant for something beautiful and lovely – and I woke up at 3 pm lit a cigarette said hello to the pink of the sky and realized that the time we spend doing nothing isn’t actually for nothing. Sometimes it’s everything we can ask for in this world that wants to keep us unhappy and discontent.”
