I'm glad that people are still having fun on tumblr even after we found out about the frightening ghoul that reblogs posts but doesn't say anything

can't stop thinking about brennan saying "i'm going to describe something very heartbreaking now." how often does he break the kayfabe just to warn one of the players about the next thing he's going to say?? so much tragedy in dimension 20 but it's here, this moment, that is devastating enough that brennan takes a moment to give a warning: i'm going to describe something very heartbreaking now.
adaine abernant grew up lonely and abused in the shadow of a cruel, perfect aelwyn who could do no wrong. adaine didn't even want to find aelwyn, and every step their adventure took in her direction was a step adaine asterisked with a loud proclamation that she hated her bitch sister and didn't care about finding her. and only after discovering that aelwyn had been a months-long prisoner, tortured at her parents' hands, only after hearing a destroyed aelwyn apologize, does adaine consider that maybe aelwyn was a victim, too. and she overcomes her childhood resentment. she sees the bigger picture. she rescues her sister. she protects her as they sleep, and aelwyn's magic protects them in return. it is, maybe, the first time adaine truly feels that she has an older sister. and there's hope now. aelwyn has been broken down, but also redeemed, and they're together now, and adaine can help her, and they can be a family, because people aren't perfect, but aelwyn said she's sorry. and adaine goes into her mind and sees all the self-loathing she never knew about, and even more than that the fear of their parents, and she understands aelwyn so perfectly in this moment, all bitterness and spite dissolved, just a young woman taking a leap of faith and being rewarded with family, finally, a sister she never got to have, who actually loves her and believes in her and wants to keep her safe.
and then aelwyn's memory resets.
and in an instant, adaine loses everything she never knew she could have.
pretty heartbreaking.
I just thought of a body guard au where Elphaba is hired to be Galinda's bodyguard, on recommendation by her friend, Fiyero.
Its the usual enemies to pining to lovers, where Galinda is a spoiled brat who hates Elphaba because she basically follows her everywhere and sometimes doesn't allow her to go places she deems too crowded, making her miss most of her social gatherings with her friends.
Elphaba also hates her, because Galinda basically treats everyone like they're beneath her( the cook's son boq, specifically, and Elphaba herself).
One day Galinda, with her friends' help, and a manipulated boq, ditches Elphaba to go to a party.
She is attacked, and Elphaba, who finally gets boq to admit the truth, gets badly injured while saving her. But she still gets her home safe and unharmed.
Galinda feels guilty, and starts treating Elphaba like a person, asks her parents to let Elphaba recover from their home while her new bodyguard protects her. Which is unnecessary as she doesn't leave Elphaba's side. She realises her decisions could get someone else hurt and swears to Elphaba to do better.
Elphaba recovers slowly with Galinda's help and they're in their pining/Galinda flirting with Elphaba every chance she gets/ Elphaba trying to remain professional era. The parents don't mind because i don't have the energy for that drama.
The new bodyguard is a plant sent to kill Galinda but Elphaba figures it out and they pull a switch and bait to prove it. At first, elphaba wants to be the one to switch with Galinda and galinda refuses to let her girlfriend put herself in danger again, yes they're dating by now, and boq volunteers after wearing elphaba down.
Am not sure why Galinda is being attacked, maybe money, social status, she offended a mob boss...
It was at this moment my mind told me, but what if Galinda was the bodyguard instead, the personalitties remain the same, just reversed. Bubbly Galinda upland to protect elphaba thropp, stoic eminent heir, while she teaches her that life is more that being just about duty and they fall in love.
Maybe one day i'll fully flesh out these aus, in the meantime, someone please write them and tag me.
The wildest thing about Ben 10 is that it took until 2005 for someone to have the idea "what if a kid could turn into a bunch of aliens" like this isn't obviously the coolest and most marketable premise for anything ever. Each design is a new toy. A new powerset. Come on.
But to prove that it wasn't a fluke, they continued to have the best ideas for every aspect of it. How does he transform? A cool watch you can also sell as a toy. That watch's name? Omnitrix. Say it. It's so satisfying. How many aliens? Ten. Nice round number. The kid's name? Ben. The show's name? Ben Ten. His full name is Benjamin Tennyson, a normal, plausible name, but he also turns into 10 aliens.
Bigger brands dream about this synergy. Better writers would kill for this coherence. So holistic. So intuitive. The identity alone!!! The retro alien sound motif? Chilling. The green? Any other color would be wrong. The kirby krackle pattern? It seems so obvious in retrospect. The roadtrip format? Genius. Lesser writers would've done the spider-man high school thing. His arch nemesis being Cthulhu darth vader? Inspired, iconic, intimidating!
The execution has its highs and lows, but the idea??? Game changing. So self-evident that it seems inevitable. If Ben 10 didn't exist, it would be necessary to invent him.
they call me "mr. bad at explaining" because well. um. uhh. actually nevermind
When I was in my teens, I used to make an entire magic system with 360+ unique spells, ordered in magic schools and categories, and it boggles my mind that I basically reinvented DnD mechanics, even down to metamagic.
I wanted to make a wiki about it but I don't have time for it.
The point was to try to encompass every "superpower" I could think of into a magic system.
I even got lore related to it all, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna simply reuse it all for OC worldbuilding. Ngl the fun part was naming all the spells, symbols and coming up with the logic of it all.
There's this really good movie called crush and it's a sapphic romcom with no struggles that relate to being gay (except maybe gay panic but that's a different thing). I personally really loved it.
LESS movies about the lgbtq experience MORE movies about people who just happen to be lgbtq. is it really that hard to understand
omg it's so cute i love it it's just a silly little guy
