Tutankhamun Headrest

An ivory headrest with the god Shu holding the sky above his head. The two lions symbolize the mountains on the eastern and western horizons, between which the sun rose and set which, in this very case, is represented by the king himself. The headrest was designed to support the pharaoh’s head between the two horizons as he traveled through the afterlife.
