Arthur: We both look very handsome tonight. Merlin: You know, if you'd just said that I looked handsome, I would have said, "So do you." Arthur: I couldn't take that chance.
do you ever read a piece of fanfic that is just so fucking spectacular that makes you actually feel things?
boy, i swear to god, i’m so goddamn grateful for every single one of you writers, yall literally giving us entertainment for free almost every goddamn week; and this is not only for those gracious magnificent bastards that are practically gods because they’ve perfected (and keep developing) their craft, this is also to that little (and equally amazing) writer that is just starting and might not be the best at it, you my friend keep writing because practice makes perfect, don’t stop writing if that’s what makes you happy. i just want all of yall to know that i appreciate you so goddamn much and yall the fucking best
to every fanfic writer out there: i love you, u crazy motherfucker
I feel like people often confused kindness with innocence. They are not the same thing. To be innocent would mean to be unaware of the cruelty of the world; to be kind means to be aware of said cruelty and make a conscious effort to not be a part of it.
‘childhood is when you idolize Batman adulthood is when you realize that the Joker makes more sense’ - this is the most Reddit thing I’ve read all day.
Personally, I prefer to call people from USA as “people from the states”. It isn’t perfect, as there are more than a single country called “united states”, but it annoys them and that’s enough for me.
it’s genuinely so funny to me every other language in the world has a word that means “usamerican” except english and this has apparently no implication whatsoever and we shouldn’t try to change that because “no other country in america calls themselves american” like. perhaps there’s a reason for that don’t you think
i’m still waiting for someone to write this fic
Look, I don’t care what kind of time-travel/timeline-crossover fuckery is involved, but picture if you will, S5 Merlin “Carrying the Entirety of Camelot On These Shoulders” Ambrosius meeting S1 Arthur “Hope This Doesn’t Awaken Anything In Me” Pendragon.
Arthur: Do you know how to walk on your knees?
Merlin, straightening to full height, squared up: Do you?
Arthur: Uhh….
Arthur, internally: Top me, top me, top me, top me, top me-
I have a bath bomb from lush but no tub so I guess I’ll just have to eat it
When Albert Camus wrote "somebody inside of me has always tried, with all his strength, to be nobody."
You've gotta love Jews more than you hate Nazis.
You've gotta love trans folks more than you hate TERFs.
You've gotta love your unhoused neighbors more than you hate the billionaires.
You've gotta love immigrants more than you hate ICE.
You've gotta love queer kids more than you hate christian fundamentalists.
You've gotta love fat people more than you hate the diet industry.
You've gotta love disabled people more than you hate the insurance companies.
You've gotta love your fellow humans more than you hate the worst that humanity has to offer. You don't have to like every person you're fighting for, and you sure as hell don't have to give up your righteous anger, but hate is ultimately corrosive.
You've gotta love.
Gentle reminder that Jesus was an immigrant, whose parents had to run from their own land in a quality alike to modern refugees. Gentle reminder that Jesus helped the poor and unfortunate and despised the greedy and miser, “It is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God”. And let’s not forget the cleansing of the temple.
He protected women and rightfully blamed men for their own sins, even going as far as to tell them “If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. (…) And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away”.
He didn’t ever speak of abortion, but on Exodus 21 it’s stated that “If men struggle with each other and strike a woman with child so that she gives birth prematurely, yet there is no injury, he shall surely be fined as the woman’s husband may demand of him, and he shall pay as the judges decide. But if there is any further injury, then you shall appoint as a penalty life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise”. Which shows us a woman is to be valued over that which she carries, for the loss of the fetus would be compensated with as little as a fine, but the life of the woman merited as high a penalty as life for life.
Anything else Christians use to justify their anti-abortion posture is taken out of context (seriously, they use verses like Genesis 9:6: “Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed, for God made man in his own image”, as if it wasn’t very obviously speaking about murder among adult men. Or verses such as Exodus 23:7b: “Do not kill the innocent and righteous”, which, to be applied to abortion, requires us to understand an unborn fetus as “innocent and righteous”.
So no, he definitely wouldn’t agree with nazis. Nor with American Conservatives.
