while it’s not that community isn’t allowed for women, it’s just that it’s so much more imbedded into society for men. saturdays are for the boys. gentlemen’s clubs and lounges. secret societies like the masons. you will find a morning coffee club in every small town in america that meets at least five days a week. it’s shop talk, its sport fanatics, it’s talking to strangers at the bar, it’s being able to go to a bar by yourself. its having all of these spaces that are not specifically designated for men but men are the default. to this day we are STILL breaking away from archaic and unspoken norms that isolate women at home (in the kitchen, with the kids) which is only hindered by such limited spaces to do so
