nah but the way some parts of the fandom mistake luffy embracing joy & freedom over conquest as naivety (to the point of infantilizing him) is so ironic considering that most of his enemies underestimate for the same reasons. baby girl has seen cruelty oppression societal rules and abuse first hand and does understand it—he just chooses not to accept it
Toei animation adding an extra & specific scene to emphasize the romantic undertones being felt by specific characters in a particular scene 😊 💕
....OH—
You ain't slick Toei. YOU AIN'T SLICK!
Jealous types.
if you subscribe to the idea that zoro sorts sex and fighting into the same mental category and also that he's been pining for luffy since day one it makes their little scuffle at whiskey peak So funny.
Like luffys genuinely trying to kill zoro and zoros like "... what Are we..?"
seeing posts/content about “zoro and luffy’s last meeting” almost makes me laugh sometimes bc what exactly do we think is going to happen……..zoro is going to be the worlds best swordsman, luffy is king of the pirates, and they just look at each other, shake hands, and say “ok see ya!” not only does this negate the fact that the whole point of being a pirate to luffy is freedom and his FRIENDS (he doesn’t want to adventure alone), and zoro has gone from a lone wolf to pack protector. the only thing that could potentially separate them is death and even then I’m pretty sure zoro would March into the afterlife and drag luffy back by the scruff of his neck
Thinking about,,, Nami and her boys. The way the monster trio specifically are her protectors physically but she's their protector emotionally. Sanji is her pack mule and Zoro is her wall of meat and Luffy is her wild card, and she exploits this regularly, but a stranger should FEAR taking advantage of them on her watch bc these are HER idiots only. You better not test Sanji's kindness or Zoro's confidence or Luffy's joy. She'd kill for them if it came to it. She knows exactly what kind of encouragement they need. She's there with them after battles. She fully trusts her life in any one of their hands, but especially all three together. She has faith that they're strong and they're crazy and they're good. This is not to leave Usopp out--they have a different dynamic bc they're Squishy Human besties and that's worth its own entire post--but I love the Girl And Her Scary Entourage/The Idiots Under Her Wing energy she has with the monster trio.
The fact that Everything Everywhere All at Once has the main character see that if she hadn’t gone to America with the man that would be her husband she would’ve lived a glamorous life of fame and fortune and her husband would’ve gone off and gotten very rich on his own rather than living together in an apartment over a laundromat struggling with finances every day and where so many movies would’ve framed that choice to go off together as a mistake, shown their alternative lives as some sort of “see? It wasn’t worth it” and had them “escape” to that “better” universe in the end, it instead all culminates in the line “Just so you know, in another life, I would’ve been really glad to just do laundry and taxes with you” changed my wholeass life
