Hey, you are not an embarrassment for not knowing how to do certain household chores/basic self-care. They do not come naturally to us. A lot of it takes practice! Maybe you had a neglectful guardian. Maybe you had one that was very coddling and never thought to teach you. Maybe you haven't lived in a place where these things were available to you or needed. Doesn't matter. It's okay to not know and far more common than you might realise.

That said, this website provides very simple instructions on how to do everyday tasks such as making your bed, using a washing machine, cooking different foods, washing dishes, taking a shower, etc. All you have to do is use the search bar to find the task you're struggling with, and it'll come up with what you need + other related how-to's:)

If you're having trouble navigating it, let me provide you with some examples:

How to clean dishes by hand

How to make your bed (with visual demonstrations of each step!)

How to fold clothes (with visual demonstrations of each step!)

How to take a shower & dry yourself off (also provides ways to shave beards, armpits, legs and genitals)

How to shave legs, armpits, beards, pubic areas, etc. (a more in-depth guide)

How to mop the floor

How to sweep the floor

How to swallow pills

How to make small talk

How to make eye contact in different situations (or how to avoid it while still looking natural)

It's also perfectly okay if these don't help or aren't appealing to you. Unfortunately, nothing helps everyone.

btw, everybody who wants to learn/get better at drawing anatomy, the best advice i have for you is to grab the morpho simplified forms book/pdf, sit down, and draw every single drawing thats in the book. or at least thats what i did and it worked really well.

its a lot and it might look like shit at first and it might be difficult and frustrating, god knows it was for me, but it turned out to be enormously helpful at the end. i got significantly better at drawing figures and faces, and whats more important, is that i actually know and understand the fundamentals, the basic shapes and structures and i can apply them moving forward

you just wanna understand the basic things and how they work etc etc. the improvement will come after you draw a fuckton of these. like here, this is 2022 february vs july, its not a Huge difference, but you can see how later i knew what i was doing as opposed to earlier where i was just trying my very best to copy what i saw on the screen

(the hands especially were a nightmare to get through first, but it was worth it. dont be discouraged if something doesnt look the way you want it to, you will get there!)

I wish kinky sex ed wasn't so stigmatized even among left-leaning "sex positive" circles. Everyone's all "uwu I'm a sub I'll do anything you ask" okay mommy wants you to read The New Bottoming Book so you learn how to sub without hurting yourself since your sex ed up to this point is porn and your ex boyfriend Jared who liked to choke you incorrectly

How to make characters that start a story off dead feel real.

Name them- this is the bare minimum

Happy memories- what did this person mean to those they had relationships with? These little details contextualize your living characters and who they are as people.

Identity- who was this person outside of these relationships?

Agency- give them a last action related, but more personal simply dying. For example, taking a bullet, giving one last piece of advise, leaving a scar on their killer's face, telling a joke, or even just figuring out a plot to kill them and doing something about.

In conclusion, characters who start a story off dead should mean something besides making a reader's feel sympathy for another character. Death is a big deal, and neglecting this reality can mess with a reader's suspension of disbelief, even for characters the reader will never truly meet. Having bits and pieces of a dead character feels more real because it mimics that experience of getting to know a person through their family and friends or reading a diary of a person long dead.

Expanding a thought from a conversation this morning:

In general, I think "Is X out-of-character?" is not a terribly useful question for a writer. It shuts down possibility, and interesting directions you could take a character.

A better question, I believe, is "What would it take for Character to do X?" What extremity would she find herself in, where X starts to look like a good idea? What loyalties or fears leave him with X as his only option? THAT'S where a potentially interesting story lies.

In practice, I find that you can often justify much more from a character than you initially dreamed you could: some of my best stories come from "What might drive Character to do [thing he would never do]?" As long as you make it clear to the reader what the hell pushed your character to this point, you've got the seed of a compelling story on your hands.

Hi there! Could you do a clothes folds tutorial please?

there are probably more qualified people than me but the long and short of it is 1. understanding what fabric you want to draw and 2. where the points of stress on the figure are

let’s say you have a nakey man who probably got into sniper’s drug stash:

image

quite unbecoming

let’s put some trousers on him, shall we?

image

so you see how folds radiate from the point of stress, yes?

it’s important to note that thicker fabric tends to fold less than thinner fabric

image

and now you have a very scared, clothed lad

image

of course, it’s always best to work from reference so setting up a friend to draw or taking a selfie is always helpful
