#SO CUTEEE
Just started watching Always Sunny, and I couldn’t help but doodling Mac. He’s just so pretty!!
Closeups below cut
Wait wait you know what I just thought of, Mac peeling Dennis’ apples for him, removing that perceived to be toxic poisonous outer layer.
Dennis as the apple. The toxic peeling as his facade, his tough outer shell he’s built around him.
Mac peeling the apple. Mac peeling away Dennis’ shell, Dennis’ poisonous outer layer.
Also something about apples and cores, about missing cores, and a giant gaping hole driven right through the middle.
And something about Mac “you changed who I am at my core” McDonald.
Something about apples and Dennis, and Dennis and the show. Dennis being representative of the show itself. On the surface, falsely perceived to be one thing: inherently bad, poisonous, dangerous (edgy, evil). But inside... something else.
Something about the phrase “rotten to its core” but Dennis isn’t, not really.
Something about Mac being Dennis’ core. Them being each other’s core. Being the show’s core. Peeling away the layers.
And something about Mac loving everyone so openly even if no one loves him because who loves the core of an apple?
Something about Sunny. Something about love. Something about apples and layers and cores.
Glenn Howerton on MacDennis (x)
whether or not they talk about the episode, we can always count on the sunny pod for delivering homoerotic rcg and new glenn howerton moments for the evidence pile

i am having thoughts
The fact that it was a fantasy was very on brand. Dennis is someone who craves the feeling of control - over his health, his relationships, over everything - so the fact that he responds to something that’s beyond his control (aging, mortality) with an incredibly elaborate fantasy that allows all these bad things to happen to him but in the end he still manages to calm himself down was extremely in character for this new, less tightly wound Dennis we’ve had all season. THIS IS HOW HE’S GOTTEN TO THIS POINT.
This ep was an insight into his mind, how he’s actively been practicing changing the way he thinks and responds (‘it’s not your fault’ ‘the system is broken’) in situations where he feels stressed or overwhelmed or threatened. The violence he allows himself to indulge in is fantasy, he’s blowing off steam internally (inside the pressure cooker) so that he can be better in real life.
tldr; it wasn’t a dream, it was his fantasy - and not just fantasy, but fantasy as a coping mechanism!
#OUGGGHH
thinking about season 5 and rcg writing macdennis romantic on purpose and saying on the commentary for break up that they’re gay they’re clearly gay they’re closeted homosexuals and dennis getting hate crimed at his frat and then at the very start of the next season his immediate reaction to mac saying gay marriage is wrong is that he should be married and looking at mac when he says I don’t love you maureen I never loved you and glenn on set for that exact scene in the kitchen jokingly going to kiss rob because the subtext of the scene they’re filming is that dennis loves mac more than he could ever love a woman and it’s always been on PURPOSE and ouuuyggghhhhhhhhj I’m unzipped
