Since April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, here are some facts:

(mostly from U.S. sources, but trends are similar globally)

General Statistics

1 in 5 women in the U.S. will be raped at some point in their lives (National Sexual Violence Resource Center).

81% of women reported experiencing some form of sexual harassment and/or assault in their lifetime (Stop Street Harassment, 2018).

Over 50% of female victims of sexual assault experienced their first assault before the age of 18 (RAINN).

Perpetrators

8 out of 10 rapes are committed by someone the victim knows.

Intimate partner sexual violence is common: nearly 1 in 10 women has been raped by an intimate partner.

Impact on Mental Health

Sexual assault survivors are:

3 times more likely to suffer from depression.

6 times more likely to suffer from PTSD.

4 times more likely to contemplate suicide.

College & School Settings

1 in 5 undergraduate women experience sexual assault during their college years.

90% of sexual assault victims on college campuses do not report the assault.

Reporting & Justice

Only about 25% of sexual assaults are reported to the police.

Among reported cases, very few lead to conviction or prison time for the perpetrator.

Lesbian women and sexual assault:

More than 1 in 8 lesbian women (13%) have been raped in their lifetime (CDC, National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey).

When including other forms of sexual violence (e.g., coercion, unwanted sexual contact), the number rises to nearly 1 in 2 (46%) lesbian women.

Perpetrators

Contrary to common myths, most sexual assaults against lesbian women are committed by males.

For example, over 98% of lesbian survivors who experienced rape reported male perpetrators.

Many assaults are driven by homophobia, misogyny, or attempts to “correct” sexual orientation (known as “corrective rape”).

Sonic is against oppression and Anya had her autonomy taken away by Jimmy. Terfs want to take away trans people's autonomy, like girl, you have more things in common with Jimmy than you do with Anya.

Edit: I dug a bit deeper into their blogs and holy shit. They're making jokes about killing trans people and trans suicides. You guys can't call yourselves feminists and then make jokes about killing minorities and their suicide rates. With the Shadow one it seems like they got raped because they were trans and this might be a trauma response, but that doesn't give them the right to hate on trans people for what a transphobe did. The Anya one is also an aphobe and doesn't take sexual assault against asexual people seriously.
