Do you think its better to raise a cat from being a kitten or is it better to adopt a fully grown cat?
I think it entirely depends on the situation! While it’s nice to have a cat from kitten, I also believe older cats need love too!
There are different types of Sigils!
As I said before there are different types of Sigils. Different activation ways, different methods to draw them, and different uses.
Sigils are single use; not meaning they can't be reused, but rather they are used for one specific purpose. A protection sigil is for protection, not wealth for example.
A Few Types of Sigils
Destructive Sigil: This is a Sigil you activate by destroying it, this is not designed to destroy things. Ways you can activate it is like putting it on paper and ripping, burning, or soaking. Of course it's not limited by that, but it's a great example. Another could be incorporating it into your food design, and eating said food. Your limits are only limited by your ability to figure out ways to do it.
Temporary Sigil: These are ones that disappear over time. You can draw them on skin, carve them into candles, or doodle them in sand or dust. Like before these are only examples, as I'm sure there are more out there than this and I'm sure even more in your head! Charged/activated lots of ways, but if it's on your skin I'd suggest avoiding a method using open flames. Burning yourself isn't good self care.
Permanent Sigils: These are ones you keep and reuse over and over. They are crafted into things like carving them into stones, or wood for example. Or made as an art piece. They can even just be on paper you keep safely with you or in your home. The whole this is you keep it is all. You would charge and recharge them after creation to keep them working.
When I start showing the methods on drawing I will be walking you through the process with my own pens and paper. So if you have any suggestions for what Sigils you'd like to see used in the how to methods please suggest them or leave them in my asks! I want to start collecting them now so I'll have a good amount to choose from, from one's you'd like to see since those are coming soon!

Witchcraft is not a substitute for therapy.
Witchcraft is not a substitute for a vaccine.
Witchcraft is not a substitute for medication.
Witchcraft is not a substitute for medical help of any kind.
You can believe in the power of herbs and crystals, but you should always get the professional medical help that you need in a given situation. As Bee Hollywood said, “You go to a witch to heal a broken heart, and you go to a doctor to heal a broken leg.” Sure, magick can help your broken leg and ease the pain, but professional medical procedures can help it more and even fix it entirely. Take care of yourself in the ways that you need care first.
How do I know which deity I’m talking to, or if it’s just my own inner voice?
Okay, so the absolute first step is to get to know yourself. You need to be able to identify what it feels like to be alone in your head/body, in order to identify when something else is there with you. So step away from your altar, don’t call upon any deities, and just spend a few days alone. Things to pay attention to:
what does your inner voice sound like? does it change or is it always the same?
do you think in a monologue, or have conversations with yourself? do you play different voices?
have some imaginary conversations, with your mom or best friend or a celebrity even. what does that feel like, sound like, etc?
how often do you hear your own voice? are you monologuing constantly? do you have to convert your thoughts into words?
is it usually quiet in your head, or pretty loud with lots happening? what do each feel like to you?
how often do you visualize? what does that look like? do you pick what you’re seeing or does it pop up randomly?
Talk to yourself out loud. does your inner voice respond?
Talk to someone else out loud. what happens in your head during that conversation?
Really pay attention to these things and getting a solid grasp on how your own brain works and responds to all sorts of situations.
Ready to move on? Now you can start learning to identify your deities. Depending on how your brain works and how your relationship with each specific deity works, communication could look any number of ways. Be open to learning what that is, rather than trying to force a certain communication style!
Start out by just trying to get time with your deity:
pray or talk to them, out loud or in your head!
spend time at your altar, gather things that remind you of them or that are associated with them.
write them letters
meditate while focusing on them & your connection to them
Hold crystals you associate with them, light them a candle, so a spell for them with herbs they like, etc
give an offering, invite them to join you for a meal
read their stories and myths, get to know them, learn how their worshipers usually get in touch with them
go out in nature, find a spot that reminds you of them. Could be a tree, a body of water, a clearing in the woods, a patch of wildflowers or mushrooms, a big rock, etc. Make that your place, meditate there and invite them to join you.
use tarot, a pendulum, etc. (pay attention to the energy you feel, if the same cards come up frequently, etc.)
Look for art, music, etc that reminds you of them. or make some!
Now WHILE you are doing all of the above, pay very close attention: does it ever feel different than when you’re alone? what does it feel like? Pay attention to all your senses!
How does it sound in your head? is it louder or quieter? does your inner voice respond the same as usual? does it take on a different tone or pace sometimes? do you hear a different voice altogether?
do certain things pop into your head, like you don’t hear a voice but knowledge or answers are just kinda… air-dropped to your brain?
How do you feel emotionally? is there a sense of calm/peace? is there a rush of excitement? does your energy feel different?
what do you see visually? is anything different about your visualizations? do you picture certain animals, imagery of your deity or things associated with them (plants, the sun/moon, water, etc)?
do you taste or smell anything specific?
do you have any bodily sensations, like butterflies in your stomach, a tingle down your spine, hair standing on end, goosebumps, a warm feeling in your chest, a sudden burst of energy, or a suddenly so calm you’re almost sleepy?
does music play in your head?
do you recognize an energy or “vibe” when you’re interacting with them? what does it feel like?
Be patient with yourself, it may take time to really tune into these things and feel the connection. But eventually you might see a pattern of how you feel when you interact with your deity. I recommend trying to start with just one, and really master how it feels when you’re together.
Once you know what they sounds like or feel like to you, it will be easier to tell when they’re around or communicating with you. You’ll learn to recognize them even when you’re not at your “spot” or specifically praying to them.
slightly adapted from samra haksever, author of mama moon’s book of magic, but is mostly the same. includes quotes from her book in the steps for how to create the jar
not my gif
this spell jar is best crafted on a Sunday, when you can channel the energy of the day, and look back on your achievements of the past week.
✿ ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿
7 small strips of paper
a pen
a mason jar, or a jar of similar size
2-3 cinnamon sticks
a pinch of patchouli, but i used rosemary
a magnet or lodestone crystal
orange or white wax (optional)
the cinnamon brings your happiness blessings, and the magnet and patchouli draw many more of these good things to you.
✿ ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿ ✿
“on each piece of paper, write down something that has made you happy over the past week; this is the time to celebrate anything and everything, from seeing a cute dog in the park and treating yourself to a cup of coffee on your commute, to taking an afternoon nap.
“fold the papers up, put them in the jar with the cinnamon sticks, patchouli/rosemary and magnet, then place the jar on a windowsill that gets plenty of sunlight.”
“optional, seal with orange or white wax. if you decide not to seal the jar, add to it as and when, or even try to make it a Sunday ritual.”
shower. not a bath, a shower. use water as hot or cold as u like. u dont even need to wash. just get in under the water and let it run over you for a while. sit on the floor if you gotta.
moisturize everything. use whatever lotion u like. unscented? dollar store lotion? fancy ass 48 hour lotion that makes u smell like a field of wildflowers? use whatever you want, and use it all over.
put on clean, comfortable clothes.
put on ur favorite underwear. cute black lacy panties? those ridiculous boxers u bought last christmas with candy cane hearts on the butt? put em on.
drink cold water. use ice. if u want, add some mint or lemon for an extra boost.
clean something. doesn’t have to be anything big. organize one drawer of ur desk. wash five dirty dishes. do a load of laundry. scrub the bathroom sink.
blast music. listen to something upbeat and dancey and loud, something that’s got lots of energy. sing to it, dance to it, even if you suck at both.
make food. don’t just grab a granola bar to munch. take the time and make food. even if it’s ramen. add something special to it, like a hard boiled egg or some veggies. prepare food, it tastes way better, and you’ll feel like you accomplished something.
make something. write a short story or a poem, draw a picture, color a picture, fold origami, crochet or knit, sculpt something out of clay, anything artistic. even if you don’t think you’re good at it.
go outside. take a walk. sit in the grass. look at the clouds. smell flowers. put your hands in the dirt and feel the soil against your skin.
call someone. call a loved one, a friend, a family member, call a chat service if you have no one else to call. talk to a stranger on the street. have a conversation and listen to someone’s voice. if you can’t, text or email or whatever, just have some social interaction with another person. even if you don’t say much, listen to them.
cuddle your pets if you have them/can cuddle them. take pictures of them. talk to them. tell them how u feel, about your favorite movie, a new game coming out.
Unfortunately, sometimes we can’t avoid certain family members at social events. Especially with the holiday season approaching. Luckily, there are ways to protect yourself and your energy when they try to bring you down. Here’s a few things I do to protect myself. All of these are discreet and don’t scream to your family that you’re a witch.
Wear enchanted jewelry 💍
What you need
- your favorite piece of jewelry or something you wear daily
- whatever you like to use to cleanse
- a quiet space
What to do
1. Cleanse the piece(s) of jewelry you would like to enchant.
2. Take as much time as you need to meditate with your jewelry and set your intentions to protect.
3. When you feel ready wear your jewelry!
4. After the social event remember to cleanse your jewelry again to remove any negative energy it may have picked up!
5. Optional: Rub the jewelry in essential oil correlating to your intentions. For protection I recommend Lavender, Peppermint or Orange.
Protection Satchel 💫
What you need
- a satchel or pouch deep enough to hold everything
- rosemary, peppermint and lavender (however much you want to use of each)
- amethyst
- piece of paper
What to do
1. Take a moment to hold the pouch, concentrate and think of your intentions. You may also do this with each ingredient if you so choose.
2. Keeping your intentions in mind, add rosemary, lavender, peppermint, and your amethyst to the pouch. As you add each ingredient, repeat the phrase “I am protected from all harm that comes my way.”
3. Once ingredients are all added, take the piece of paper and write either an affirmation or a sigil for protection. Fold this piece of paper as many times as you feel needed. Hold this piece of paper for a second and think of your intentions once more. Then drop it in the pouch.
4. Finally, once the pouch is made, place this somewhere you can keep close throughout the day i.e. a purse, a bag or your pocket.
Wear a Sigil ✨
Wearing a sigil doesn’t need to be obvious. This is something you can wear while keeping it discreet. There are a few different ways to wear one. You can draw one somewhere on your body using marker, or draw one inside your wrist using a perfume roller, or even with your daily moisturizer. The most important thing is ensuring you charge it before wiping it away. You may also opt for just using a piece of paper and keeping it in your pocket.
