Because I love food and I'm also cheap. This is basically just my regular easy chicken soup recipe but with the magical associations included. It'll feed you for days.
What You'll Need:
One of those discount whole chickens from the grocery store (my boyfriend calls it a "used chicken")
Whatever veggies in your kitchen are starting to look sad and need to be used before they go bad (I recommend having carrots and celery in that mix tho)
Some extra celery/carrots for the final product (can come from the Sads if you need... pick the healthiest-looking parts.)
Pasta of your choice (I like penne)
A stockpot and strainer (another big pot should work too, but stockpots are best for holding everything/making the most at once.)
Salt, pepper, preferably dill as well + whatever other seasonings you want.
What to Do:
Take your used chicken, strip all of the meat from it, and put the meat aside. Put the carcass in the pot.
Add all of your sad vegetables to the pot. No need to be fancy with it, no need to peel anything. Shop an old onion into 4ths and add it skins and all. Leaves can stay on any celery. Chuck in some garlic, why not. I've added an old sweet potato before. Leeks. Rosemary. Whatever. Go be free.
Add some salt + pepper, cover the entire thing with water, bring it to a boil and then immediately turn the heat to low. Cover it most of the way.
Go do something else. Forget about it for at least four hours. If you want, you can occasionally go up to it and skim any foam off. Everything is steeping and blending, so the longer it goes the better it gets. (Remember the water will cook down though, so don't leave it forever.)
Cook your pasta al dente and set it aside at some point.
Once you're ready, strain the broth into another vessel and discard your sad broth vegetables. Thank them for their service.
Put the broth back in the empty stockpot and bring to a boil. Chop your happy vegetables to whatever size you want to eat them at. Add any vegetables like chopped carrots that need to cook longer than other veggies. After a few minutes add the rest. Once everything is at a good level of This Won't Feel Weird to Eat, put it on way low again!
Add everything else. That means salt, pepper, dill (I like dill. Add too much dill.) seasoning powders, chicken meat, and cooked pasta. Steep it for a little so the broth flavor can soak in, but you don't have to do it for as long as before.
EAT IT! You have soup now! Yay! Eat a bowl now and save the rest for later. It'll last you a while. (Pasta will get bigger/softer over time but that's fine, it's still good.)
Boil some water. Add chicken bouillon cubes, salt, pepper, dill/whatever seasonings, and a tiny splash of oil. The oil helps it look/feel more authentic without needing to steep the chicken carcass.
For even faster broth, you can even use boxed chicken stock and skip the bouillon. I find chicken broth tastes kinda different and gross, but it'll work in a pinch and you might not mind it as much as me.
Naturally, whatever unique vegetables you add will have their own correspondences, so I'll just list the recommended base ingredients:
Chicken: Lasting love, household harmony, abundance, luck, prosperity and general well-being
Celery: Lust, mental/psychic abilities, clear-headedness/focus (especially for decision making)
Carrot: Lust again, abundance, creativity and psychic awareness
Dill: Luck, money/employment, protection, knowledge and decision making.
Chicken Soup Itself: Health and vitality is the big one (probably obviously.) It's basically folk penicillin. I think it also carries associations with love (especially familial) and household harmony for exactly this reason. Based on the other associations, I could also see it being good for helping make important decisions with a sound mind.
Enjoy! Let me know what you think!
Hereโs an updated version of my throwing divination set. Iโve added some new pieces to it and stitched some more symbols on the cloth mat for more specific readings <|:^)
โโโ โ Longer Process and Information Post Below! โ โโโ
If you donโt feel like reading, you can keep scrolling a bit :)
The stitching on the mat is definitely not the prettiest work Iโve done, the fabric is from an old shirt so it was kinda stretchy and annoying to work with. Also, I ended up having to usejust regular brown string, since I ran out of proper embroidery thread that matched the previous brown lines I stitched on a while ago, so that made things a bit rougher to sew with. Iโm also not the best at freehand embroidery, but Iโm still alright with the resultย ส โขแดฅโขสใโก
Iโll list the pieces and symbols and their meanings below, for my sake since I donโt have a final paper copy, as well as if anyone has suggestions on any more pieces for other meanings I should maybe add later ยฏ\_(โโโกโโ)_/ยฏย

***The mat has two circles, items landing within the inner circle are more directly involved, important or sooner in the reading. Items landing in the outer circle are less directly involved and items landing outside of both circles bear little to no involvment or relation.
It is also divided into the four seasons, which could literally realate to the season itself, or what the season represents:ย

***Some pieces are coins or are two-sided items, which means they have different meanings depending on which side is facing up. Hereโs the full list of pieces with meanings:ย
Twine Person- The self, represents whoever the reading is for, set at the centre of the inner circle
Green Shell- Positive, affirmative, yes

Cast the Circle thrice about
To keep unwelcome Spirits out.
Bind it whole, and bind it well
To serve as altar for my spell.
Mark this ground with all my soul
To consecrate with my control.
The sacred Circle is one of the oldest and most powerful tools of witchcraft. The shape of the Circle symbolizes the unity of nature; the unending cycle of life, death, and rebirth; and most importantly, a structure with no corners, no weak spots, no vulnerability. Casting a magick Circle can provide protection, seclusion, power, focus, and a host of other benefits. It is arguably the first piece of magick a witch should learn when exploring ritual work, and it can serve you in an endless number of ways.
In short, a Circle is a place of power designated by a Witch exclusively for a spell or ritual. The Witch consecrates this space with their energy and declares it to be theirs and theirs alone for the duration of the spell. This area is bounded by a physical circle which no energy can cross without the permission of the Witch.
Circles have been utilized by various magickal traditions for thousands of years, and over that time they have taken many different forms. Almost every tradition has a different method for designing a Circle, casting a Circle, and using a Circle. In this post, I will be discussing my own personal method of Circle casting, along with some traditional methods.
Traditionally, a Circle is cast at the very beginning of any ritual. Before any spirits are summoned, before any gods are invoked, perhaps even before any candles are lit, a Witch will cast a Circle around the area theyโll be performing magick in.
When utilized like this, a Circle has three functions:
1) Establishing a Place of Power
A Circle designates a specific area as separate from the world around it. In a way, you are taking this physical space and removing it from space and time. Outside of the Circle the world continues to go about its unending business, but within the Circle, all energy is dedicated towards the completion of the spell.
This aids the witch in achieving the state of gnosis required for the spell. By removing yourself from the human world around you, you are declaring that you are more than human. You are reclaiming a piece of your spiritual godhood, and I find that this is very lucrative for tapping into that special โenergyโ of magick (if youโve experimented with deep states of magickal gnosis, youโll know what Iโm talking about).
2) Protection
This is possibly the oldest use of the Circle, which can be traced back to Ancient Greek and Zoroastrian Craft. In some ways, a Circle is the most basic form of a Ward. You are creating an energetic barrier around yourself and your space that prevents any random energies or spirits from wandering into your spell.
Some of the earliest known rituals involving Circles were summonings and evocations. In this function, the magician would enclose themself in a special protective Circle before conjuring a spirit or deity. As long as they remained within the Circle, the being could do them no physical or spiritual harm.
3) Focusing Energy
This function partially relates to the first function I mentioned, creating a place of power. When performing a spell or ritual, you are essentially constructing a special, high-vibrational energy to be released into the universe. Utilizing a Circle helps to encase this special energy, allowing you to freely manipulate it without interference and without the energy dissipating into the environment around you.
A precise method for casting a Circle is hard to pin down, just because they are so unique to each individual practitioner, and there are so many different methods that exist already. In general, though, a basic Circle can be cast with three simple steps:
1) Purify the space
Using any preferred method of purification, purify the space youโll be performing your ritual in of all disruptive energies. One of the most effective and traditional methods is to burn a purifying incense, such as sage, thyme, frankincense, sandalwood, etc.
For those of you who canโt burn incense for whatever reason, this can also be achieved with sound vibrations (singing, ringing bells, etc.), visualization (manually clearing the space with your own energy), spraying herbal water in the area (a common new age type of cleansing), or any other type of purification you may utilize.
2) Mark the Boundary of the Circle
Mark the boundary of your Circle on the ground. This can be done with salt, chalk, a crystal grid, sticks, leaves, oil, water, or any number of other methods. A Circle can also be traced in the ground if you are standing in sand, dirt, gravel, etc.
A common misconception about Circles is that they have to be physically marked on the ground. This simply isnโt true, though. If you lack the materials, space, or ability to physically create a Circle around you, you can also mark the ground with a Circle through visualization.
Close your eyes, and visualize your energy tracing a Circle in the ground around you and your sacred space. A visualization thats often helpful for me is imagining a Circle of fire igniting around me, but use whatever visualization works best for you.
3) Enchant the Circle and Make It Yours
This step is the most unique from practitioner to practitioner. Every Witch does things a bit differently, but essentially, the last step is to consecrate your Circle to protect this space from invasion and to focus the energies within towards your will.
I commonly perform this step with a simple spoken spell that goes something like:
Hear my words, for they are sacred.
Feel my power, for it is manifest.
I consecrate this Circle as my place of power, wherein I and I alone have total dominion.
I mark its border upon the ground, and by my power, I declare that nothing may enter here without my invitation.
As I command, so must it be.
โข This is a very simple type of Circle. While it is perfect for keeping out stray energies and weaker spirits (like ghosts or nature energies), it is reliant solely upon your own strength. Depending on how effectively you cast it, it may not be enough to keep out stronger or more malevolent energies.
โข A Circle can be strengthened through any number of methods, such as marking its border with charged crystals or designing an intricate Circle using sigilcraft. Research, experiment, and find out what works best for you.
โข A very common method of strengthening a Circle is by evoking the Four Elements/Watchers, which I will discuss in a future post.
โข After casting a Circle, make sure to invite in any spirits/deities that you evoke in your ritual. If you summon them to you but donโt invite them into your Circle, they may be present but will be unable to interact with you or your spell.
โข After completing your ritual working, be sure to unbind/release your Circle. This will deconsecrate the space and release the energy youโve created into the universe for manifestation.
Be safe, and Happy Witching! ๐
Today's herb of the day is Star Anise!
Gender: Masculine
Planet: Jupiter
Element: Air
Magickal uses:
Drink as an infusion with tea or burn as an incense before divination to boost psychic abilities and awareness. Place on your altar to increase the power generated from it, add to a bath with bay leaves for purification, place in a dream pillow to prevent nightmares, carry with you to bring luck in love, health and money matters. Carry in a satchet to ward off the evil eye, hang an anise seed head from your bedpost to restore lost youth, use as an offering to entice spirits to aid in magical operations and anise leaves or anise seeds used in a potpourri will protect a room from evil spirits and intentions. Good for money, luck, protection, psychic power, dream, love, purification, power and purification workings.
Other uses:
Star anise has been used in Asian and Eurasian cooking for many, many years. This age-old spice is not only known as a culinary expert, but is also famous for its medicinal properties like being used to improve heart health, steady blood sugar, ward off bacteria and fungi, aid in sleeping and help fight the flu.
In foods and beverages, star anise is considered a culinary spice; both the seed and oil are used as flavoring.
In manufacturing, the oil is used as a fragrance in soaps,ย cosmetics, perfumes, andย toothpaste, and to mask undesirable odors in drug products.
Deities:
Quan Yin

Disclaimer: If you are healing from serious trauma, please use this spell only as a supplemental tool for professional treatment. If you are on any sort of medication, do not use this spell as a replacement.
What You Will Need:
An Apple (for cleansing away negativity)
A Knife
A Sigil in Mind for Healing
Directions:
Use your knife to carve your sigil into the surface of the apple. I used one of my own: x
Once you have carved your sigil into the apple, begin to eat the apple. As you eat, think of the thing that has hurt you that you want to move past. Focus on how moving forward will improve your life.
As you chew the apple, imagine you are crushing that thing that is bothering you. When you swallow, know that you are taking in the healing properties of both the apple and the sigil.
Don't rush it! Take your time and try to eat as close to the core as possible before throwing the apple (and that thing holding you back from healing) away.

Burn by itself or with charcoal to get rid of negative energy and purification(especially before spells), wear while reading or completing tasks to improve memory of the material and aid in clear thinking, place in a dream pillow fo prevent nightmares, use an infusion of rosemary to wash hands before any healing magick, add to baths for purification, use in incenses for love and lust and is a good substitute for frankincense. Other uses:
Rosemary is used forย improving memory, indigestion, arthritis-related joint pain, hair loss, and other conditions, but there is no good scientific evidence to support most of these uses. In foods, rosemary is used as a spice. The leaf and oil are used in foods, and the oil is used in beverages.Extracts and the volatile oil have been used to promote menstrual flow and as abortives. Rosemary extracts commonly are found as cosmetic ingredients and a lotion of the plant is said to stimulate hair growth and prevent baldness.

There are 54 days until HALLOWEEN
Hi friends,
I woke up this morning with a mere 4 dollars in my bank account. I got hit with all my bills at once and have more bills starting next week. Iโm currently in between jobs, Iโve been doing food delivery when I can but, due to me being disabled thatโs not too often.
Iโm not a person to ask for โhandoutsโ but now is one of those moment where I unfortunately need to. Last month I couldnโt make rent, and if Iโm late another month I could be looking at eviction. The last few months have been difficult to work due to my pain, so money has been extremely tight, but I never thought Iโd be here.
If you would like to help itโs greatly appreciated, even just reblogging this to others is also greatly appreciated. I have a few ways to help if you would like:

10. What is something (or someone) youโre in love with?
๐ (itโs about to get cheesy) Iโm in love with the way my cat lays on my chest and pushes his head into my hand. Iโm in love with the way fall smells and the way leaves crunch underneath my feet. The way a sweater feels against my skin, how a cup of warm tea feels between my hands. Iโm in love with my fiancรฉ and how we donโt just act like lovers but best friends as well.
13. Whatโs your ideal summer aesthetic?
๐Iโve never been a huge fan of summer and Iโm terrible at describing or choosing aesthetics but, Iโm in love with early summer mornings when itโs chilly enough for a hoodie and the morning dew covers the grass. 30. What do you do to feel at peace?
๐Paint, draw, something creative. Something about getting lost in my art with music blaring through my headphones makes me feel so at peace. Here are some personal words of advice to those in the witch/Pagan communies who wish to be allies to witches and Pagans of colors/marginalized groups, sincerely from a Pagan witch who is a member of an ethnic minority.
Do Not:
Post/repost those lists of what are/are not cultural appropriation. Many of them are inaccurate and incorrect. Some of them are downright stereotypical and racist.
Use us as an excuse to attack people. Some people genuinely don't know better and mean no harm. Innocent mistakes happen. Publicly humiliating people and/or ruining their businesses doesn't help us at all. We've seen enough bullying in this world already without you adding more to it in our names. If you wish to educate someone on what you know/have learned from us, please at least do so in a tactful manner for a start.
Assume cultural appropriation at face value. Looks can be deceiving. The person who has a dreamcatcher hanging above their bed might have received it as a gift from a friend who's Native American. The person with a fresh henna tattoo might have just attended an Indian friend's wedding. The person who appears to have a light complexion might in fact, be a part of a closed culture and/or belong to a closed practice.
Take what you read on the internet as gospels. A handful of people whose online posts have gone viral might not actually represent the voice of the group from which they claim heritage. And guess what? People online can and do lie.
Support mass marketing that exploits native cultures for profits.
Go around preaching about a culture that you're not a part of. This includes what is/is not cultural appropriation from that culture.
Repeat what you've heard/think you know about a culture without having actually taken any time to talk with the people from that culture in real life or done any research to educate yourself about that culture.
Talk over us and speak for us. And this includes making the rounds on social media telling people what our cultures are/are not, what we allow/do not allow, what can/cannot be done with/from our cultures.
Do:
Listen to the native people of a culture. Take the time to get to know them. Spend time with them, if you can. And I don't mean on the internet. As much as possible, try to actually go places, explore different cultures, and learn by experiences.
Be a part of a culture's celebrations/special occasions if you're invited by the people of that culture.
Support local/small businesses run by ethnic minorities.
Appreciate different cultures. Enjoy and promote different cultures' arts, music, cuisine, and traditions in respectful manners. Celebrate diversities. Embrace differences.
Ask questions. If you're not sure about something, it's perfectly fine to just ask. Most of us are cool with sharing our thoughts on matters related to our cultures.
Understand that cultures are not monoliths. Even within a culture, there are going to be differences of opinions, across generations and geographical regions.
Actually be an ally instead of a mouthpiece. What we really want is for our voices to be heard and not drowned out. We would like to be able to speak our minds, without anyone talking over us, without anyone making it more about them than about us.
there are plenty of ways to work to work a little magic into your day without doing a full on ritual, and your daily (hourly?) tea is one of them! hereโs just a couple of suggestions withย herbal correspondences.
