have YOU ever wondered "hey, when's the first time they mentioned Meracydia in game?" or "hey, how can i check every time they've ever mentioned souls?" or thought "gee i'd love to find the exact wording of this line without having to watch the whole cutscene again"?
now you can!!!!!!!!!! through 2.55, and MSQ/Crystal Tower only so far
i owe my life to people putting game scripts for PS1 JRPGs on gamefaqs, and i couldn't believe a similar script didn't already exist for xiv when i went looking for one, so i took matters into my own hands. also i added a couple of neat features like being able to filter content and add in your own WoL's name :)
obviously this is a very large undertaking for a single person, especially since i'm getting 99% of the text directly in-game playing through on an alt, rather than using a text dump or something, so updates won't be super fast. but i hope that it can help some people in its current state, and that i'll one day catch up to current content! (i'm also 100% open to corrections and suggestions)

The Big O - Directed by 片山 一良 Katayama Kazuyoshi
1999

Storyboard : 片山 一良 Katayama Kazuyoshi
Episode Director : 佐藤育郎 Ikurou Satou
The atmosphere of this episode was phenomenal, it almost felt like a stand-alone episode. A series of murders, investigation, pursuit of the truth, a main character nearly tormented, driving alone through the city. One of the best episodes I’ve ever seen.
whenever someone is like "[X] is so good but you can't just recommend it casually bc it has every trigger warning under the sun" that in itself is a recommendation. all the truly good shit needs a minimum of 5 disclaimers or it can't possibly reach the level of visceral catharsis necessary to be classified as a masterpiece. the funnier variant of this is when you come across a callout post for a piece of media that ends up reading like a recommendation instead
I - Inventor - How creative is their thinking? Do they seek out the opinions of others or rely on their own ideas? What’s their problem solving approach?
Sena is creative in specific ways, but I don't think he's creative in general - he might think outside the box during a fight as a survival / practical thing, but wouldn't have the patience for an art project or an elaborate strategy.
For the opinions of others, he actually puts a lot of stock into the opinions of the handful of people he trusts; in a lot of ways he sees himself as existing in relation to them, rather than by himself, and that extends to his antagonist arc where he's alone, lost, and lashing out. But he won't listen to like, strangers' advice without someone he trusts vouching for that stranger.
Problem-solving for him falls into either pragmatism (though not utilitarianism since he really only cares about his friends) or "I can fight it", to varying results. He's actually pretty observant and is quick to notice when things are off - though he could probably point them out a bit more tactfully.
As a bonus, since he curses a lot - most of his more creative curses are stolen from characters like SIdurgu or Estinien, because he has trouble coming up with his own.
If terror is the feeling of dread and apprehension at the possibility of something frightening and horror is the shock and repulsion of seeing the frightening thing, name a time your character has been terrified and a time they were horrified. How did they deal with these emotions? Was the terror, for example, unfounded, or the horror too much?
A time your character was terrified
I make a lot of "Sena's dead boyfriend" jokes, but the moments leading up to that were pretty much exclusively this. He doesn't know where his friend went, anticipates the worst, and then something he's been scared of up to that point actually happens.
For things that happen in-story, he has a few of these, but being left alone in Ultima Thule really freaks him out.
More under the cut! Contains full spoilers for Endwalker.
A time they were horrified
THIS ONE WAS ACTUALLY SUPER HARD TO ANSWER.
I want to say the massacre early in ARR, which got to him pretty bad; he starts to come out of being an "I only care about this one person" type edgelord, he starts getting along more with people, and then those people die and he goes right back to that.
Also slightly unusual one, but the combination of dragoon and having issues with his scales makes the conversation with Vrtra deeply unpleasant for him in a way that isn't quite horror, but comes close.
How did they deal with these emotions? Was the terror, for example, unfounded, or the horror too much?
Sena tends to deal with his negative emotions in general by covering them with anger and then not actually dealing with them, but even moreso when he's scared. Him wanting to be strong is an extension of this; he wants to protect his friends, but also, if he can fight it, he has agency in the situation.
Complete silence stops him in his tracks, though.
I forgot to add playlists - here’s both characters’ playlists!! Gulshan || Gulshan [instrumental] || Sena

best advice i ever got as a writer was to pick a hobby that i hated more than writing and stick with it. i’m a runner now and it’s miserable and i Hate It and writing is so lovely in comparison. bonus: i’m in excellent shape and running gives you a lot of time to think about writing. i’ve solved a lot of plot complications while running.
This is such funny advice. Writing is so excruciating, you gotta take up Self Torture so that writing feels like a fun little break 😭
