What a dweeb…
(bonus)
What I’d give for one of the Cinderella remakes to go into how when you’re in an isolated and abusive situation, sometimes you need to be saved and you’re not weak if you can’t escape by yourself
I’ve never been a fan of bad faith reinterpretations of fairy tales, especially ones which flatten the originals into “princesses is saved by a prince and nothing else”, to then go #girlboss. The princess can save herself because she’s a strong female character! (Implying if you’re in a bad situation, it’s because you’re not strong enough to get out)
Is there a word that’s a mix between angry and sad
A reminder that Wilbur Soot has been trying to go by his legal name of Will Gold in some parts of the music industry. His full name is William Patrick Gold. If you see that name, that's him. Do not let this bitch ever get the chance to even try and rebuild his reputation.
Some said that sword fighting was like dancing; for them it was the other way around. Maybe it came in the territory of being a killer, to see the simplest of things as hunting ground but neither of them minded.
When Elian had first suggested it, Lira had only looked at him with a blank expression; after he explained, she just narrowed her eyes. It wasn’t like sirens knew the first thing about walking, much less dancing. And being the Sea Queen meant she couldn’t spent so much time on land. But Elian pointed out that she did spent on land, meaning they could practice.
“Come on,” he’d said one day. “It’ll be fun. Father spent all those years on tutors and hate to think he wasted it now.”
By the sidelines, the Saad’s crew had taken to give their varies opinions as Elian and Lira discussed the matter.
“Come on, Your Majesty, don’t break our poor, gracious Captain’s heart!” Holding his hat to his heart, Kye like the comfortable pirate he was, resting with no worries whatsoever by the ship’s railing.
“Does he even have a heart?”, Madrid mused by his side.
“The ship’s conditions says so.”
“Shut up, you two!”. Though most captains, especially ones raised as princes to kings, would had taken offense at being talked like that, Elian only returned their grin like he would to an annoying sibling. Considering he had basically grown up with this people, and that had had the honor of meeting Elian’s sister, it wasn’t difficult to believe.
He turned back to her, holding out a hand for her. “Shall we?”
After what had probably been their longest verbal argument, Lira relented. Her steps were clumsy, the swaying of the Saad and the crew’s suggestions not helping. Elian found it all very amusing, though Lira kept throwing him death-promising glares with every smirk.
Night fell and they kept dancing. Eventually, the crew retreated to the comfort of their hammocks, one or another staying longer watching them before they too left.
Alone at the prow of the ship, neither pirate nor siren talked. Lira had missed this days, to stand at this ship, away from her kingdom just for a time. Being queen was everything she’d wished for but there were times it became…hard, like a creature feeding off her. But here, in Elian’s arms, she felt alive. Home.
They kept dancing for hours, slow and to their own rhythm, the silence saying more than words ever could. And when the crew finally awoke and returned to the deck to find them still there, no one moved, for it was obvious they were somewhere far, far away where no one could touch them.
For @samnherondale, who I miss and is one of my dearest friends, I hope you are okay Samn, know that I’m always here.
*Sigh.*
Fic writers.
No one in Italy calls anyone “dolce.”
“Dolce” means the adjective “sweet,” or the noun “dessert.” I am Italian. Google is lying to you.
If you need some terms of endearment to be spoken by your Satanic Italian Cardis and Papas, here are a few:
GENDER NEUTRAL:
Amore - love
Tesoro - treasure (this is common but lovely)
Bene mio - my happiness (endearment)
Schricchio - “squeak” (cute endearment)
FEMALE:
Any of the GN, and
Bellezza, or Bella - Beauty
Dolcezza - this is what most of you mean by ‘dolce.’ It literally means “sweetness,” but is the properly used endearment.
Principessa - princess
Piccola, or Piccolina - little one
Cara - darling (feminine)
MALE:
Any of the GN, plus
Bello - handsome
Caro - darling (masculine)
Fusto - hunk, stud, etc. (endearment)
Principe - prince
Cucciolo - puppy (cute)
THIS IS NOT AN EXHAUSTIVE LIST, THERE ARE A LOT MORE TERMS
I hope this helps☺️ —Now, if you need slightly smuttier terms, I can do those, too. 😁
One thing I’ve been thinking a lot about behind the scenes is what Gaster’s recovery would be like and who would play a role in it. Refinedtale is, as the name suggests, always being refined and changed as I develop it. This comic and what happens in it are subject to change.. but I’d like to think some of Gaster’s first movements and reactions to things were triggered by seeing Sans upset. In this comic, as was stated by Sans, its been over a month since Gaster was pulled out of the void.. and thus far he’s just been a husk. No talking, no movements, just.. stillness. And no one can figure out why he’s not getting better. This most likely isn’t the first time Sans has cried in front of Gaster since he’s been back, but it could be the first time a memory was triggered because of it.
In this timeline Sans and Papyrus are under a lot of stress, so much so that Toriel would swing by almost daily to check in on them and bring them food. And one time she brought them butterscotch pie to eat. She gave Gaster a slice too.. well, she more of posed him like a doll to hold the pie and fork. She tried to show him how to eat, but Gaster just.. didn’t respond.
..”He’s just not there yet”.. Sans couldn’t finish that sentence before trailing off. Those first four words, “he’s just not there.” It hurt to acknowledge. Toriel tried to save it and reminded him that its “yet”, he’s just not there, yet.. But Sans’ emotional state was very fragile up to this point. He was on the edge of breaking down due to all the stress he and Papyrus were under. And that was it, that phrase pushed him just a little bit further.. and he started crying.
Seeing Sans cry and hearing him say that he was scared triggered something within Gaster. Parental instinct perhaps? It moved him, metaphorically and literally. He recalled a time when he was more whole, a time when he could speak. He was ill back then wasn’t he? He needed to eat, But he really didn’t want to.. so then why did he?.. Because it would make that child feel better if he did.. He didn’t understand how he was moving or why he felt a sense of urgency.. but none the less he managed to move his weak arm and coordinate his movements enough to take just one bite.. And his soul felt a bit warmer after. Seeing Sans just light up after he took that bite made him feel like he did the right thing.. even if he didn’t really remember Sans or understand what he just did..
Again, this comic is subject to change due to my AU constantly being refined and developed.. but for now, this is one of the first times Gaster made it clear that he’s still alive, and he’s still in there somewhere.. He just needs a little more time..
