I guess ultimately it just rubs me the wrong way when people use "Gundam" as the default example for like. Gritty No Fun Allowed Military Mecha Shit because that is simply not what Gundam is. And I get that a lot of annoying dudebros who have Char icons and jerk off to 08th MS Team have worked hard to give it that stereotype.

But Gundam is a show about space magic and ghosts and psychics and homoeroticsm and crossdressing and gender fuckery and autism (canonically) and its diehard fans have been rightfully embracing it as a show for Freaks since 1980. Gundam does not deserve its stodgy dudebro reputation and certified gay freak Char Aznable absolutely does not deserve it either
