My dear followers,
I am going to try something: I have an older blog on tumblr that I’ve been neglecting, but I still love it, and it’s very similar to this one- I’m going back to using it primarily, at least for a while. I wish there was a way to merge them, but I’m pretty sure there isn’t. If you want to check it out and maybe follow me there, the username is treble-soft-whistle.
Thanks guys, and I hope this isn’t inconvenient for you.

People have written a lot of touchy-feely pieces on this subject but I thought I’d get right to the heart of the matter
We get one chance at life, and it pisses me off that some people may not get to live their life the way they want to. It’s not always possible to have it all. But if you have a chance - the smallest chance - at getting to where you want to be, I say take it. Take it. You’ve nothing to lose by giving yourself that chance.

“Every one of us is, in the cosmic perspective, precious. If a human disagrees with you, let them live. In a hundred billion galaxies, you will not find another.” ~ Carl Sagan, Cosmos
“Psychologists say it’s not uncommon to think of fictional characters as your friends. They call these attachments parasocial relationships, and a growing body of research suggests there may be more to these connections than we realize. It turns out that as we grow emotionally attached to characters who are part of a minority group, our prejudices tend to recede.“
This is another reminder of how important initiatives like everysinglewordspoken are. Not only to demand media representation for POC, but to change group attitudes about the ‘other’ and erase prejudice on a wide scale.
There is strong evidence that reading for pleasure can increase empathy, improve relationships with others, reduce the symptoms of depression and the risk of dementia, and improve wellbeing throughout life, new research carried out for The Reading Agency has found.

Read this article. Spread it around. And then point out to others that when you have your nose in a book, you are not being antisocial, and that the world would improve if they read too…

Your eyes wander up, and above you see the dark planet of awesome size perched, in it’s sunless void. An invisible titan all thick black forests and jagged mountains and deep, turbulent oceans.
A monster. Spinning, soundless, forgotten. It’s so close now. You see it just above you. Maybe, even, if you tried very hard, you could.. touch it. You reach up-

This person, Gérard Philipe, is my favorite actor and was by all accounts a good and beloved man. I’ve seen a few of his films but had given up on finding the rest, in the US anyway. Today I searched his name on YouTube out of semi-idle curiosity, and found that people have been uploading his films!! There are four of his films on YouTube that I couldn’t find anywhere for years!!!! I am happy. And the man’s screen presence is amazing, you all would benefit from seeing him.

Also, if you understand French (of course the films are more enjoyable but also) he has several recordings of plays and books that are much easier to access from the US than his films, and his voice and expression are exquisite. Among them ‘Ruy Blas,’ (he plays Ruy Blas) ‘Le Cid,’ (he plays Rodrigo), and ‘Le Petit prince,’ (he is the pilot/narrator). Beautiful work.

“For a really long time that’s all I had – little moments with a girl who saw me as a friend. And, a lot of people told me I was crazy to wait this long for a date with a girl I work with but I think, even then I knew that … I was waiting for my wife.
The boat was actually plan C, the church was plan B, and Plan A was marrying her a long, long time ago. Pretty much the day I met her.”
I mean if Carlos the scientist is supposed to be universally adored they could not have cast a better actor tbh
