Pearl
Pearl is also one of the main roles of au in messy human society.
She has a double job, in the morning she is a ballet instructor, in the evening she is a lesbian bar and lesbian nightclub dancer (? Working at night is just her hobby
She is a special exception among the dancers in lesbian nightclubs/bars. She can see whether she wants to work or not.
Regarding other things, she still likes rose, so she is a little resistant/disgusted with Lapis *Because Lapis likes Pearl because of Pearl's proud and confident personality and strong female temperament
Pearl is older than other *gems, almost 35+ years old
one of my favorite highlights of the post-”a single pale rose” SU fandom, has been seeing everyone slowly let go of this cliché supervillain persona they’d built up for yellow diamond.
it’s not actually that uncommon to be angry and frustrated in the face of trauma. both yellow and blue take it out on others, and on themselves, in different ways. blue completely loses sight of her work - she focuses entirely on her own feelings. yellow explicitly calls this out, which i thought was a nice commentary on how sadness isn’t “better” than anger, or automatically more sympathetic. yellow channels her anger into a twisted sort of productivity, while blue completely neglects being a leader at all.
rebecca said they’re equals and opposites. i’d argue their flaws are, too.
yellow is rigid, blue is drooping. yellow is the rock blue needs to lean on, and she knows it. she essentially steers the ship, while blue has given up… but it’s not out of some selfish desire for power. yellow wants to “fix” things. she doesn’t verbally say she cares, but her focus is on actions, not words.
nothing makes it more clear than right after “what’s the use of feeling blue?”. blue’s focus is on her feelings, and yellow’s asking what she can do about it. blue is sad about earth specimen dying out? that gives yellow focus. it gives her something to do: abducting humans for the zoo. her goal - and the goal of the entire yellow sector - is to fix everything. taking action in accordance to what’s logical. this is a big part of peridot’s character, and i’d argue being transferred into that sector has affected jasper, too.
which brings us to “reunited”, aka my favorite of their interactions to date.
i love this moment. they’re such a team. none of that cliché secret hatred between female antagonist-types. there really isn’t a “bad guy” in the relationship between them. yellow criticizes blue for being too emotional, but her ultimate goal is to get her out of her depression by any means necessary. she’s basically trying to “fix” her way out of it.
in terms of interpersonal and coping skills, they’re both broken af. but yellow’s rudeness towards blue (calling her hysterical, rolling her eyes at her constant wallowing) isn’t selfish. she’s been trying her damnest to make blue feel better for literal ages, and she feels a sense of duty to her leaderless gems.
in doing so, she hopes to make herself feel okay with things, too.
“how miserable. i knew pink couldn’t handle her own colony. but, i gave in. and now, i’m to blame for her fate.”
the subject of pink diamond is just as fraught for yellow as it is for blue. she may express it in a way that isn’t so stereotypically sympathetic, but she loved her. she always did. it’s no wonder she was offended during the trial- zircon accused her of being exactly what yellow thinks of herself: the gem responsible. not just for pink’s fate, but for keeping everything running. it’s her fault, as a leader, whenever things go wrong.
that’s the thing about yellow’s vision of leadership - it’s never been about what she wants. she’s just always had this role, and believes it’s her duty. she has to fix everything, even if she’s miserable. it’s comparable to mayor dewey in “dewey wins” - he works himself to the bone during the campaign, but when presented with a better alternative for the city, he gives in and steps down. dewey was fine with not being in charge. even if he liked some aspects of the job, the greater good mattered more.
what he wanted, was to keep things running smoothly. what he needed was to step down, leaving the city in good hands with someone who would change not only the leadership itself, but the very notion of its hierarchy.
someone who believes in working together in a communal, non-hierarchical way, rather than strict roles that stifle self-expression.
like bismuth said… someone is making the others believe in the future.
when garnet’s not there, the crystal gems may not have a traditional leader - but they still have their heart. maybe the other diamonds can believe in him, too.
Band au lore dump
I dont usually make tutorials but ive been asked a few times so here i am trying, remember SU utilizes different line weight, its not just thin or thick it has both
hopefully this helps!
Drawing with this heavy ahh stylus on this small ahh phone is so rough- i wish to be free, flick my wrist around on paper sob, i miss accidentally smugging my hand on the drawing because im left handed and then throwing the whole paper away because it was a horrible drawing anyways. and well. my elbows would stop locking and hurting
I want to start this by saying- I am NOT a writer. i SUCK at writing and grammar, and i really suck at illustrating very emotional stuff- which is why most of my aus is just cool concepts that would be fun to think about.
This wont be a story and more like my idea written down in a weird way- so it's bad and doesnt read like a fic- actually i have no idea how it reads ^^;; With that in mind. Love Bullet Cupid pearlapis/lapearl AU
(Also just putting this all in a single post because im new to posting in tmblr and im bad with pacing stuff -head in hands- ) ---------------------------------------------

Lapis got into an accident that shot her car off a cliff and into the cold ocean. Her actual death is the water that flooded her car and drowned her.
She woke up years later just at the edge of the water, her weapon already sitting by her side. With no guide she had to figure out stuff on her own.
--Stray Bullets --
Pearl was one of Lapis’s early Targets (this was before chapter 7+ where we learn about the Target Board)
Being emotionally inept Lapis had a hard time landing shots that lasted, often pairing up the wrong people and wasting bullets when it had no effect at all.
She stumbles into a pair (Rose and pearl)
Maybe they were childhood friends that just stuck together, or middle school buds that never split.
This time even Lapis could tell that Pearl has a special connection with Rose, especially with how much the peach blonde kept following her around.
So, thinking that this was a safe shot to take. Lapis aims her gun at Pearl who was looking at Rose and boom! ♥
Finally! a successful pair.
Before Lapis could celebrate the first red in her gun’s love gauge she notices another person arriving.
A chill going down her spine as she recognises the heart eyes in Rose's eyes that’s directed at Greg
Shit.
Did she just pair this girl with an already established couple?
Lapis lowers her gun as she stares at Pearl's back, watching the couple flirt.
Shit.
Lapis tries to brush it off, another whoopsie, who cares, she doesn't.
Or at least she shouldn't. But she couldn't wave away the guilt she felt for essentially fucking up this girl's life.
So while taking missions nearby (and messing them up) Lapis quietly follows Pearl's life, watching her burning love, her never ending yearning and the deep sadness that lingers her form. The merciless pain piercing through both of them.
(Parallel to my theory that Lapis has seen Pearl's memories when she was in the mirror and stored them in her gem.
Always there, watching but never able to do anything [ hearts in pearl's eyes never fading away ] )
Lapis sits on the balcony, elbow on her knee, chin in her hand, watching Pearl with half-lidded, awkward eyes. Pearl stares ahead, her expression a raw mix of love and pain as she looks at Rose.
Lapis watches as the years go by, horribly failing at her cupid missions; she neglects them in favor of following Pearl around. Watching everything.
Watching her confront Rose when she got pregnant
Watching her pain when Rose died during childbirth.
Watching her work hard to help Greg with raising Steven while constantly mourning her love, never ever getting over it as years goes by.
When Steven was 13 years old, a terrible accident happened.
Exhausted from years of overworking, Pearl lost her footing and fell down a large flight of stairs.
Lapis watches in silent horror as her target tumbles down, bump by bump, before ending with a bloom of red circling her head like a halo.
She died shortly.
-- Pearl --
Pearl remembers her body becoming cold, desolate and lonely.
She's tired, very tired, and sleep was beckoning her.
In the dark cold she recalls a wish
A wish to be loved.
Pearl wakes up in a pile of Rose petals, her hands brushes against a shotgun buried under the flowers.
And the first thing she sees is an angel perched on the stairs she fell from, crouched, messy hair with a rifle hanging from her shoulders.
The first thing she heard was a quiet chuckle.
"What a horrible way to die"

Them as cupids!
bonus since this is kinda ooc
here u go :’)
If Charlie, Vaggie, Wednesday and Enid were in the world of Soul Eater, who would be a weapon and who would be a technician (Master(?))? And in general, what weapons do you think they would be (the 4)?
I'm pretty sure the term is "meister". It's how I've always known it and they're called as such in the wiki.
Anyways!
Wednesday would be a meister and one of the first openly witch students attending the school. Enid would be a weapon, but is so scared and disgusted by the thought of slicing through anything that she has a blunt blade. Because nobody else wants to partner with a witch or a blunt weapon, Wednesday and Enid ended up becoming partners. Enid's weapon form is the saber(?) from the show that Wednesday uses in the final episode.
Charlie would be the Death the Kid equivalent (so I suppose Lucifer would be Death here). Since she's due to take her dad's place soon, she's preparing for it by being a teacher at Death Weapon Meister Academy. She was also the one who made the truce with the witches and ended the practice of eating witch souls to make death scythes like Kid did in the final arc of the manga.
Vaggie would be the newest and final death scythe after the truce with the witches. Her last meister was Lute and she lost her eye during the fight against the witch whose soul she ate. As the last death scythe, she was assigned to Lucifer's heir Charlie right after she graduated.
Vaggie has a grigori soul like Maka and Tsugumi, so she also has wings.
Her weapon form is a trident, with the middle blade resembling her canon spear, while the ones at either side are blade forms of her wings.
I hired Yellow Pearl to be the model lol. She has a cool hairstyle.
