(Semi) Useful Horse Guide

(Semi) Useful Horse Guide

So, I've been thinking a lot and as a horse person, I would like to share some horse terminology.

Horse - refers to an equine over the height of 14.2 hands (1 hand = 4 inches) and is descended from that ancestor that horses are descended from (also recommended to ride these guys instead of ponies, ponies are little shits most of the time).

Pony - refers to an equine 14.2 hands or smaller, and is descended from the same ancestor as horses, but spilt off after a bit and became its own thing (also an absolute twat waffle when it come to manners and behaving).

Foal - actually refers to a horse or pony under or the age of 4, but more commonly refers to a horse or pony under the age of 1.

Yearling - refers to a horse or pony at a year of age.

Filly - refers to a female horse or pony under or the age of 4, but more commonly refers to a horse or pony under the age of 1.

Colt - refers to a male horse or pony under or the age of 4, but more commonly refers to a horse or pony under the age of 1.

Lesson Horses or Ponies - Mindless horses or ponies used to teach people how to ride, and don't spook at inanimate objects.

If anyone wants to know more terms, I can add, but if not I just wanted to put this out there because I know a lot of people don't know the difference between a pony and a foal, and that bothers me a lot.

In The Last Four Days, A Lot Of You Might Have Seen The Video Of Mr. Philip Banks Catching A Baby Boy

In the last four days, a lot of you might have seen the video of Mr. Philip Banks catching a baby boy that was thrown out of a burning building - the baby was saved by both him and the mother who sacrificed herself to help save her kids. In the video, you can hear neighbors pleading with her to jump down herself, but she didn't. She was completely engulfed in flames by the time she went back in to try and save her daughter. There are three heroes in this story, and all three of them are angels, one in Heaven now, and the other two here on Earth. Mr. D'Artagnan Alexander is the name of the neighbor of the Longs who kicked in the door of their apartment, went inside the fire and saved the little girl, who the mother managed to carry as close to the exit as possible before succumbing to her horrific injuries. The final sacrifice of a loving mother and the selflessness and bravery of these two amazing men are incredible. Words aren't enough.

Both of the children made it, but sadly it was too late for Mrs. Rachel Long. She leaves behind a little girl that will need more surgeries to start her recovery, a baby boy that is getting better but is extremely traumatized, and a husband who is now heartbroken and left homeless with their two children.

I implore you, if you cannot donate yourselves, I completely understand, but please at least share the donation link, that helps too!

Mr. Phillip Banks is a true hero. The way he sprinted to catch the little boy, throwing himself with everything he got to save him - without a doubt, the boy would have been severely more injured or gone if it wasn't for him. Mr. D'Artagnan Alexandar is another true hero. That little girl would not have made it without him. He ran inside a burning apartment, risked his life, all to save a child and he tried saving the mother too, but she was already impossible. Can't imagine how traumatic all of that is for the two of them as well, and for all the neighbors and family members affected. A lot of people helped in this tragic situation.

And Mrs. Rachel Long? I can't even begin to describe how horrifying it is what she had to do to save her children, and how brave she was in her final moments. She was such a strong woman and amazing mother. No one should ever have to go through that. How do you recover from something like this? It seems impossible. She and her family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Hey folks, this is not your typical post about incorrect quotes.

I want to address a serious issue today, and most of you probably know what’s been going on in the US.

The killing of George Floyd started another serious and necessary debate on Police brutality in the states. (And I think not just there. Every country is affected in some way or another.)

My heart doesn’t ache, no. My heart is bleeding and crying out of pain about what has been going on for days now. What people have been going through for years and years. This is not the first case of police brutality against POC, nor the second, and it probably isn’t the last one.

It happened so many times already that I can’t count them all. Our world has lost so many beautiful souls to this never-ending issue. Additionally to this, we lost so many brothers and sisters of color who were part of the LGBTQ+ community too. Even though it is pride month, I can’t enjoy and celebrate it as much as I want to.

But now is the time to act. Now more than ever! We all have a voice, and I’m sure as hell using mine. And I want you to do the same.

40 Ways you can help right now shows you different techniques and approaches to support the #blacklivesmatter movement in various forms.

Everyone’s able to do something. Even if you don’t have the money to donate, or you’re not from the US, share articles, draw attention to it in some way. Being silent about this puts you on the side of the offenders.

I understand that I will never understand. However, I stand with all of you!!! Credit goes to @sfbucketlist on instagram for these 40 ways you can help right now.

A few friendly reminders

-Many wheelchair users can stand or walk short distances. This does not diminish their need for a wheelchair.

-Many deaf/Deaf/heard of hearing people have limited hearing, the ability to speak, lip reading ability, or any combination of the three. They still require proper accommodations for their deafness.

-What a person with sensory issues can handle often varies on a day to day basis. Just because they could handle something a few weeks ago doesn’t mean they’re lying about an inability to do it now.

-The same goes for people with chronic pain or fatigue.

-Just because someone has a learning or developmental disability it does not mean they’re automatically unintelligent. With the proper accommodations and support, many can thrive academically. Some disabilities such as ADHD and autism can even make individuals more suited to certain tasks than neurotypicals.

-Unless you are a doctor with the correct expertise, disabled people most likely know more about their conditions and what accommodations they require than you do.

-Disabled people and communities deserve respect.

I find a lot of arguably mean things funny, but there’s a special place in my heart for hardcore hipsters who insist they love tea despite having no idea how to brew it and just choking down that hot bitter disaster while insisting it’s God’s gift to man
