Dear Thomas
This is the first letter i can remember writing obviously i donāt know if iāve written any before the maze but even if itās not my first itās likely to be my last Iām not scared well not of dying anyway itās more of forgetting, loosing myself to this virus, thatās what scares me so every night iāve been repeating their names out loud Alby, Winston, Chuck and i just repeat them over and over again like a prayer and it all comes flooding back just the little things like the way the sun used to hit the glade at the perfect moment right before it hit the walls and I remember the taste of frypans stew i never thought iād miss that stuff so much and i remember you i remember the first time you came up in the box, just a scared little greenie who couldnāt even remember his own name but from the moment you ran into the maze i knew i would follow you anywhere and i have, we all have if i could do it all again i would and i wouldnāt change a thing and my hope for you when your looking back years from now youāll be able to say the same thing the future is in your hands Tommy and i know youāll find a way to do whatās right you always have take care of everyone for me and take care of yourself you deserve to be happy
thank you for being my friend
goodbye mate

a scene can start wherever you want it to
writing isn't real life. You don't need to set up a character walking into a room or two characters greeting each other and talking about the weather or what-have-you in order to lead into the conversation you actually want them to have. just start at the conversation.
hell, start in the middle of the conversation. you could even start at the end and then have one of them leave and the other one left behind to reflect back on what just happened.
writing gets easier when you open yourself up to writing the parts that are interesting, to starting where it's easy instead of where you think you should start.
if it ends up not working? that's okay. you tried it, and sometimes just getting something out of your head is a necessary first step to getting the words right
i think ive let the slowburn burn enough
