from this:
i can’t explain how happy i am to see the pjo series casting kids. the reason no other rendition of pjo has ever have come close to the books is because the feeling and heart of the books can’t be replicated with an adult cast. so much of pjo is wrapped up in the fact that they’re KIDS.
all of the gods are adults, every bad teacher or monster in disguise is an adult. they rarely seek the help of adults, and mostly avoid them on quests. it’s not a coincidence that hestia, the goddess they immediately are meant to trust, takes the form of a child, or that artemis consistently takes the visual age of the teens in the hunt, or that the one ally they actually take on is rachel. and it is just not possible to achieve the stark dynamic when the cast of canon 12 year olds are played by grown adults that look like they should be holding down 9-5 jobs and then going home to kiss their wives.
the core of pjo is about children. thinking about percy grappling with immortality doesn’t hit the same when it’s a middle aged man, not a small, scared sixteen year old still learning to drive. bianca choosing to join the hunt and subsequently dying would not have been such a big deal if she didn’t have a kid brother, and wasn’t a child herself. even luke becomes a much more sympathetic villain with the context of him being so young, not when he’s some sleazy 25yo with a beard
so much of the magic of the story is lost when you take away the age of the characters. i can’t explain the feeling of reading pjo when i was 7 or 8 and looking up to the Big Kids that were funny and witty and angry and loving and smart and valuable, not in spite of his flaws but because of them, and then watching the movie and being like. oh. that’s just some guy
the presentation of percy and annabeth in walker and leah isn’t just going to be accurate to the tone and context of the books, it’s going to place these characters in a way that is actually reachable to kid viewers. it’s not going to be “here’s some woman pretending to be annabeth,” that is going to be annabeth, a young girl that they could see on the playground or in their classroom and imagine being friends with
Fun fact related to yesterday’s shenanigans
The Halloween costume I was gonna wear originally did have a skirt but I changed it to the shorts
Imo liked the shorts more LMAO but this was also nice
As much as I'm excited for a solo book on solangelo, I really wanted a book focusing on Piper and Jason after the war. I wanted to see them trying to find Leo, trying not to give up, the breaking point where Piper realized this entire relationship wasn't real, the break up, them still being friends and having to remind themselves that they were never dating, and it was all just a fever dream.
I wanted to see them going into that parking lot and being separated, that fear of losing another friend, I wanted to see Jason learning that one of them wasn't going to be around that long, his mindset, him deciding that he wouldn't let Piper die, them fighting outside, Piper knowing Jason was going to do something reckless, and them going their separate ways, because Piper can't bare another friend keeping a secret from her, because she still feels guilty over Leo, and inside she still feels as if the reason Leo didn't tell them the plan was because he didn't trust her, didn't trust them.
The story doesn't have a happy ending. Its a prequel, its everything that lead up to Jason's sacrifice. Piper and Jason were always a tragedy, and I feel like Rick could have expanded on that.
Happy Birthday Michael_B!!!
He is 4 now!!!
It just pisses me off the amount of homophobia and general insensitivity towards Noah I've seen since yesterday. So allow me to give everyone a few reminders.
Just because Noah doesn't wear make up or have a high pitched voice or wear feminine clothing does not mean he's faking it. It does not mean he lied about being gay. How he acts and speaks and dresses does not determine his sexuality...his attraction to MEN does. Gay men can wear snapbacks too. Gay men can be gymbros too. Gay men can be cringey little frat boys too [affectionate]. There is no specific way to be gay. Stop perpetuating stereotypes. Also, just because he thought Zendaya was pretty is not proof that he's "faking it and is actually bisexual." Saying he's in denial and he's really bisexual after he explicitly called himself gay is so disrespectful and you're invalidating his sexuality and trying to act like you know him and his feelings better than himself.
Making jokes about his best friend running him over and hate crimeing him immediately after he came out is NOT FUNNY AT ALL. Not only is it just tone deaf and disrespectful to Noah and taking away from his moment, but it is disrespectful to Millie and their friendship as well. Those homophobic Millie jokes expired 6 fucking years ago. PLEASE give it a rest. Millie loves Noah and she is NOT homophobic. Seems like y'all are just projecting your own bigotry onto her at this point.
Noah being gay does not mean he wasn't acting during Will's scenes. His and Will's experiences will not be the same just because they're both gay. Saying "he wasn't acting here" really is just disrespectful to him and undermining his talent. He is not Will. Will is not him. The only thing they have in common is their sexuality. But they are different people with different experiences and SOME similarities. He portrayed Will beautifully because he is a great actor who can tap into his character and who for the most part gets what Will is going through and could translate that into his scenes...he didn't portray Will beautifully because he's gay and Will is gay. Please be serious. You wouldn't say stuff like this about straight actors who plays straight characters.
Stop saying shit like "he's girlypop" or "we knew" or "the closet was glass" that is insensitive as fuck. And the next straight girl I see call him a twink, fruity, or girlypop is getting karate chopped in the fucking throat. And while we are on the topic of straight girls, stop posting videos of you crying and screaming because Noah is gay. Him finally being confident and comfortable enough to share that part of himself with everyone is not a loss for you. It is a win for HIM. Stop trying to make his coming out about you.
AND TO ALL THE STRAIGHT GIRLS AND MIDDLE AGED GAY MEN MAKING JOKES ABOUT NOAH BEING A BOTTOM, THERE IS A SPECIAL PLACE IN HELL FOR YOU PEOPLE. THAT BOY IS 18 AND FRESHLY CAME OUT. LEAVE HIM ALONE. STOP SEXUALIZING HIM FFS.
Saying Noah must be in love with Finn just because Noah is gay and Finn plays his love interest on the show is fucking weird. Gay people don't just fall in love with everyone of the same sex. Noah being gay and being friends with Finn does NOT mean he has feelings for him. Please be fucking serious.
And to the Nillie shippers throwing a fucking fit and acting a fool...get tf over it. Y'all never should have been shipping real life people to begin with.
Just some reminders for people since I've been seeing a lot of people being really fucking rude and weird towards Noah.
It was in the Camarvan that Wilbur had held Fundy in his arms for the first time and whispered promises to the new-born, tear tracks fresh on his face.
It was in the Camarvan that Tommy had looked at him, with wide eyes and mouth agape, finally sinking in that this was Wilbur's son.
It was in the Camarvan that Tubbo learned how to tie diapers, until it had become ingrained in his brain. Tubbo would forget about it until later, when another child walked into his life.
It was here that Eret would ruffle his hair, talking fondly to him even when Fundy was sure he had done everything wrong.
It was in the Camarvan that Lmanberg and Fundy's childhood had started, and though Fundy's childhood had been mere months, it was with the Camarvan's destruction, that Fundy's childhood ended
reminder that I also have the ability to pop off about beeduo occasionally
