When they brought Tara home from the hospital, she had a breathing tube/mask to help with her asthma. Sam hadn't been able to spend more than a few minutes with her new baby sister yet because of her health, and she didn't really understand what asthma meant. So when she asked what it was, her parents told her that "the baby doesn't know how to breathe properly, so it helps her."
