Ok but Luca can definitely be seen as a metaphor for being lgbt and what really sold me on that was when the two old ladies put down their umbrellas and let the rain touch them and were outed as sea monsters too. I kid you not as soon as I saw that my first and imminent thought was “oh they’re a lesbian couple!” and you can’t convince me that they’re not, that they weren’t living in the closet waiting for the day that it was safe to be themselves both literally and figuratively.
