RE: Village in a nutshell
tragedy trios
listen up I need to talk about characters in pain alone. a fighter who won their most recent match but who goes home alone to a crappy little apartment where they're lucky if they manage to make some ramen before they pass out on the couch, only to wake stiff with bruises in a few hours. a vigilante who loses to the villain and gets left on a rooftop to pick themself up and try to stagger home without getting found, arrested, or passing out in their costume. the new member on a team who gets the dirtiest, hardest jobs as an initiation and who can't admit to anyone that they're breaking under the pressure because all their teammates will hear is weakness.
I need characters pasting bandages on injuries with trembling fingers as their vision blurs. I need characters desperately trying to haul themselves up just one more stair so they can stagger to their front door. I need characters who make it through that door only to collapse right behind it, watching the light in their bathroom blur and fade before they can get to their first aid kit. I need characters passing out in alleyways only to wake up hours later and know they still have to try to make it home on their own because they think they have no one to call.
suzanne collins fucking produced a masterpiece. i'm reading hunger games for the millionth time and EVERY TIME i fall more in love with it.
i'm kicking my feet over the fact that katniss already had a little crush on peeta before the hunger games started and she didn't even realise it. like — during the parade, she holds onto him because he's so strong and solid as rock and then he smiles at her and tells her fire suits her and she has to stop herself from getting butterflies!!!!! i fucking love them. katniss is one of the best written characters EVER and i am FOREVER a simp for peeta mellark.
i could talk about hunger games for HOURS. favourite "he fell first but she fell harder" trope. gale can choke
have a good day everyone:)
nearly every character pedro pascal plays is like a charismatic intimidating figure with some sort of skill in combat meanwhile every photo i see of that man irl has this energy
what if marinette had a worn out pink jacket that she filled with handmade embroidery and patches to serve as memoirs of her loved ones
at the start of the show it just has patches for her parents, nino and kim (rip the childhood friends hc away from my cold dead hands), and maybe marc (hc they were friends from before she show started)
she meets alya and soon enough, marinette shows up to school and proudly shows off the newly embroidered wifi signal to her, and alya freaks out in joy over it. after the whole gum scenario is solved and adrien tells her he doesnt have many friends, she responds by adding his patch to her sleeve (he cries to plagg about it). mari adds chat noir to her jacket, secretly, on the inside, near her heart after he worms his way into it. after the obligatory chloe redemption that i'm still salty we didn't get, marinette embroiders a bee to her sleeve as a show of good will, and chloe has to hide how emotional that makes her.
she meets luka and a guitar patch is added to the back. she starts hanging out with kagami and embroiders on an orange juice patch, as an inside joke. she becomes more out-going, starts actively hanging out with her classmates more, starting with the art club, and soon enough all of them are getting added onto the jacket, as well.
eventually the whole class has their own little patch, reflecting how much closer they've become since the start of the year, how they essentially went from barely friendly acquaintances to a close-knit family. eventually the entire surface of the jacket is covered in patches and memories of the people marinette loves
idk just,,,,,,i know it prob wouldn't work in the show itself bc i can only imagine it'd be hell to animate a constantly changing piece of clothing, but like,,, it'd be cool
(also please imagine marinette's jacket getting destroyed during the final battle with hawkmoth as an omen of what will happen to her family if they fail to stop him)
