You all hate Chaol because he had a terrible past that included really bad experiences with magic causing him to be prejudice against the faes resulting in him to be a dick toward Aelin by saying mean things that hurt her feelings. (Not excusing his behavior, but I understand why he felt that way.)
But when Aelin literally chains up Manon under a boat JUST because she’s a witch and had no real reason to hate her…y'all try to find excuses.
Basically Chaol just said mean things that kind of cut deep, but Aelin LITERALLY GOT PHYSICAL WITH MANON and y'all think it’s okay. This fandom has a bunch of hypocrites with double standards I tell you.

Jesse smiling at nothing because no one sees him and then noticing Lucie:
It’s not your story. You do not get to decide anything about the plot or characters. You get pissy when she doesn’t do things and pissy when she does. She tries to give you what you ask for and you get pissy about that too. She’s not some perfect little marionette that you pull the strings for. She is telling her stories as honestly as she can. If you don’t like it, fine. But don’t get angry with her when things don’t go exactly how you want them to go.

“What if Cordelia has changed her mind, and says she will not have a minx like you?”
“She would never!” Lucie was outraged.
“No,” Will agreed. “She would not. As far as I am concerned, you shall perform the ceremony as soon as you please. All I want is for you and Cordelia to live a long and happy life, and never be parted.”
now and then – Lucie, Cordelia, Grace
I LOVED this book for one glaring reason (that goes beyond how much more Azriel we got, but I digress).
That reason is the gray area. There is SO. MUCH. moral gray area in ACOWAR. Characters that I admittedly thought were PERFECT and could do no wrong did wrong. Characters I thought were pure evil did right.
SJM portrayed a beautiful picture of humanity in a fantastical world. Not one of us is morally right or morally wrong, point blank. We are MESSY, and so was every character in ACOWAR. MESSY. And she didn’t shy away from portraying them as such. The characters moved all over the spectrum of right and wrong and that’s just LIFE.
The gray area is a GOOD THING. Now is it going to incite a million and one arguments on this platform concerning the age old argument of “oh so and so did this when they should have done this because I say so and since they didn’t they’re A PURE EVIL ABUSER SATAN WORSHIPPER BLAH BLAH BLAH.” And that part sucks. But real people are messy and all over the spectrum. And so is ACOWAR and I LOVE IT.
Aedion: Aelin has no survival or self preservationists instinct. i think she was just born without one
Rowan: that cant be true-
