Sorry This Is A Sorry Basic Question, But Do You Have Any Good Tips On How To Do Colour Change Correctly

Sorry this is a sorry basic question, but do you have any good tips on how to do colour change correctly when knitting?

There’s no one ‘right’ way to join colours or skeins: it depends on the yarn, the project and how you feel at the time :)

If you have a plied yarn that will take it (probably at least 3-ply as 2-ply tends to not have enough structural integrity), then the Russian join method is the way to go:

Alternatively, you can try the spit-splice, which basically felts the two strands together. You want to do this with a yarn that has microscopic scales that will stick together after you splice them, so this only works for animal fibres. I often use this for lace work where weaving in ends is tricky, and the slight bulking from the Russian join isn’t necessarily what you want.

Finally, I often use a weaver’s knot and then weave in the ends as I knit along the row. The weaver’s knot is really small and really tight, so it’s great for any fibre that won’t felt. I’ve used the weaver’s knot almost exclusively for Persian Dreams because the Russian join won’t work on Knit Pick’s palette - the plies are too loose. Plus, you can get the weaver’s knot exactly where you want the colour change to happen, which is handy for tight changes.

Getting Spiritually Unstuck

I think this is something that a lot of people go through. Sometimes it is like hitting a brick wall, and sometimes it is waking up realizing you’ve actually been stuck for days. The latter is how I realized I was stuck. Life got busy and I hadn’t even noticed what happened until I felt emptier than usual. Then the light bulb went off.

They way I see it, once you realize that you are stuck, you can do one of two things:

A. You can continue doing what you are doing. or B. You can do something different.

Here are some of the things I plan to do:

Meditation- I plan to meditate in general and specifically on envisioning what being spiritual looks like for me.

Reading- Sometimes books just spark something within. I plan to revisit some of these books and maybe check out some new ones.

Spend some time decompressing- This will look different for everyone. For me this could range from taking a long shower to playing video games.

Change your environment- For me, this means rearranging things or going out in nature. Sometimes this can mean taking a vacation or trying a new shop in town.

Get insight and clarity- I plan to use some of my decks to help me to gain insight and clarity as to why I am stuck and what I can do.

Do your spiritual or religious practices anyway- For me this is going to be about finding a set of practices that I can stick with.

Some other things may include:

Interacting with spiritual or religious individuals- Sometimes they can be a source of inspiration or motivation.

Praying or speaking to the spirits or deities in your life.

Eat healthier.

Exercise.

Seek guidance.

Seek inspiration.

And many others!

I may make individual posts to go into each of these- what I do and how I find that it helps me.

But what are schools for if not to make children fall so deeply in love with the world that they really want to learn about it. …In a proper school no fact would ever be presented as a soulless one, for the simple reason that there is no such thing. Every facet of reality, discovered where it lives, startles with its wonder, beauty and meaning. ~ Marjorie Spock Spock, M (1973) Too Much Like Work in Waldorf Schools. if anyone would like to learn a couple tricks for carving pumpkins:

- dont cut out the top to scoop out the seeds, cut out the bottom instead. this way the pumpkin doesnt cave in on itself and lasts longer - sprinkle some cinnamon inside at the top after carving. this way when you put the candle in it smells like pumpkin pie

It’s time to Be a Adult and mythologize your local Flora, Fauna, Rivers, and rock formations,

No that isn’t just a birch tree,

That’s the Sisters Rosamund, Lyonesse, and Miranda, They are under a shape shifting curse and trapping themselves inside a tree is the only safe way for them to figure out how to break it.

Leave them Ribbons, or crystals, Your secrets, your Social security number, whatever you think they will like
