Hi lovie! Your writing and blog aesthetics are incredible! I visit every morning to get some motivating energy. May I please make a request for Jack Hughes? May it please be with a girl who is quiet/introverted but not a pushover. She doesn't start conversations/speak much in public, but is chill with herself and doesn't waste her social battery with those she doesn't vibe with. If that makes sense so sorry! The plot can be anything you wish! Please change or ignore this I know it's odd and choppy.

♪ GOOD DAYS - SZA
“Still standing here?”
“Mhm.”
Tonight was great. You went with Jack to this beach party he was invited to and despite thinking you were gonna hate it, it was actually pretty fun. Though you would never admit that to him.
The warm air of summer brushes past you with a soothing coo of relaxation. The music from the party being distant in your ears; hearing chatter and the crashing of the waves in harmony.
“You don’t talk a lot, do you?” A boy says, one of Jack’s friends named “Trevor” or something—honestly you didn’t mean to forget but it just didn’t stick to you at the moment.
“Not really.” You say and then turn around to walk back into the crowd. After a few minutes of just wandering you bump into the chest of another person. “Excuse me-“
“Well hello pretty lady, you alone?” He says, and you lift up your head a little bit to see the gorgeous sight of your boyfriend, Jack. His smile widens as you two meet eyes and they crinkle at the side a little bit with how hard he’s smiling.
“Hmmm, not too sure if I am….” You tease and he wraps an arm around your waist to bring you closer to you. “Where’d you go? Outside?” nodding your head and bringing your arms to wrap around his neck you give him a small kiss
You two part slightly when a girl makes her way over to the two of you, not even sparing you a glance.
“Jacky! How are you-“ she stumbles—trying to purposefully trip herself into him, but only getting surprised when he grabs you and quickly moves the both of you out her way, causing her to fall flat on the floor.
A few people around her look down confusingly, and you mentally smile at her slightly embarrassed look. She quickly jumps back up to her feet and coughs a little to clear herself up.
“Um, anyways. How are you doing, Jacky?” She says, and looks at you for a second while her face shifts to displeased when she sees his arm around your waist.
“I’m fine. Me and my girlfriend, y/n, are doing pretty well-“ “Jack! Tell your brother he sucks at pool.” A tall brunette says with Luke trailing behind him with a grumbling smile “I do not suck! You definitely cheated!”
“Yeah okay Luke.” Your boyfriend snorts and the random girl is very swiftly pushed to the side while the two boys take over her spot in front of you.
“Hi y/n” Luke says and gives you a small hug while you smile at him in greeting. “Hi, I’m rutger! You can call me rut, Nice to meet you.” The boy takes out his hand and his demeanor is incredibly friendly, shooting him the same smile you gave to Luke “I’m y/n. You’re a pool expert?”
“Nah, but I could definitely beat you if you play like this dude over here.” He jokes while nudging over to Luke and he replies with a ‘so not true’
“You’re so on!” The two of you run over to the table, already joking around about which one of you would get which side.
“That’s new? She doesn’t really click with people like that…” Luke says and Jack nods, looking at the two of you. “It is rare, but sometimes it happens. Rutger has that younger brother vibe which is probably why they clicked so fast. Y/n has a soft spot for family.”
“Jack! Get over here! I am not having Luke as my partner again” “that’s my boyfriend!”
“Why didn’t you tell me you were alone? I would have came too!”
“Rut, I like my alone time outside” you giggle, seeing him plop down on the seat next to you, making an ‘O’ shape with his mouth.
“Well, Jack was looking for you earlier. And Trevor was complaining that you didn’t like him?” “It’s not that I don’t like Trevor, I don’t really know him like that.”
“you don’t know him either!” A muffled voice comes from behind the glass window you’re in front of, turning around to see Trevor (apparently) and Jack looking at the two of you.
Jack grins, mouthing a ‘hi Baby’ to you while Trevor freezes and backs up from the window. “…a little creepy.” “I didn’t even know he was there.” Rutger laughs and you scoff
“He’s kinda right though, I only just met you at the party two days ago.” Rutger says, leaning back into his seat. “Yeah, but you give off like a friendly sibling vibe. Whoever that is gives me random dude vibes which is true cause he is.”
“Can you at least make an effort to learn my name? As Jack’s best friend I think I deserve some respect!“ Trevor whines and Jack opens the door, already tired of talking to you through the window. “you are not my best friend.” “Then who is?” “You are, obviously.” Jack says to you in response to your question.
“Y/n! Come here, I need help with my hair.” Ellen calls you over and you gently excuse yourself from the porch as the boys talk amongst each other.
A few minutes later, the same girl from last night slides into your spot and everyone stops talking. “Hey guys, what’s going on?” “Um, nothing much. Just waiting for y/n to get back I guess. Where did you come from?” Rutger says and she fakes confusion, purposefully ignoring his last question. “who’s y/n?” “My girlfriend. You saw her last night at the party.” Jack says and she furrows her brows.
“Oh, her? I talked to her outside too, not very friendly.” “Yeah, you just have to get close to her. Unless you’re Rutger apparently.” Trevor sighs and Rutger lets out a little laugh “I don’t know, she really seemed like she didn’t like me.” “She might warm up to you eventually.” Jack cuts through shortly, not wanting to leave a space where she could talk negatively about you.
He thanks everything when he sees you walking back up to them, another smile gracing his lips. “Your mom is literally the best Hughes.” “Should I take offense to that or no?” He jokes and you shrug.
“Hi.” The girl sitting in your seat says and you nod your head back in greeting. “Can I get a hi too?” “Hi Travis.” “My name is Trevor!” Giggling, you let out a small ‘oops’ and Trevor knows for a fact you’re messing with him now.
The girl eyes you down carefully, as if she’s trying to pick out a flaw while you stand there and look at something on your phone.
“Oh shit, we gotta go. Promised Luke I’d go with him to watch a movie. You wanna come, babe?” “Nah, I’m good. I’m probably just gonna relax.” “I can go.” The girl says with an exaggerated ear piercing voice, and Jack can’t help but cringe. “Um, Luke said guys night only. Bye! Bye babe.” He kisses you goodbye before shoving rutger and Trevor out and away so the girl couldn’t question him.
You stand there and watch while the boys pull out of the driveway, waving a goodbye and seeing them drive off. Eventually, the boys leave and it’s just you and this mystery girl here.
You move to go back inside, and she follows you from a distance.
Walking into the kitchen, you take out a pack of strawberries and wash them off before grabbing a cutting board and beginning to cut them into pieces, trying your best to ignore the weird girl behind you.
“Do you even like Jack?” She questions and you pause before turning around to look at her. “Who are you?” You say, before turning back to your strawberries. “I’m Kianna. I live next door. I don’t think you’re a good fit for Jack.” “Good thing I don’t care what you think then, Kianna.” She huffs and you slide your diced strawberries into a cup, moving to take ice cream out of the freezer and scoop it into a bowl.
“That’s rude.” “It’s not rude, I don’t know who you are. Why would I care about what you think if I don’t know you?” You respond, and place your strawberries on your ice cream before leaving to go upstairs into Jacks room. “You don’t want to get to know me?” “Why would I want to get to know someone who’s trying to steal my man?”.
You can hear Ellen open the front door when you disappear up the steps and slow down so you can hear their conversation.
“Oh! Kianna, honey… what are you doing in here?” Ellen says and she freezes “um, I was talking to Jack’s girlfriend and she just went upstairs.” “Oh, y/n! Isn’t she great? I just love her so much, such a sweetheart! Jack’s just so in love with her too.” Ellen says and you can feel the awkwardness radiating off of Kianna. “U-um, Mrs. Hughes, I’m gonna head home now. Bye.” She mumbles before making her way out the door.
You snicker before walking up into Jacks room and turning on the latest episode of your favorite murder tv series.
You wake up to feel Jack laying down next to you, Arms wrapped around you and his body slightly squishing yours.
“Hey. Had a nice nap?” He buries himself into the back of your neck, smiling when he hears you giggling with a sigh.
“Was soo nice. You have fun at the movies with Luke and the others?” “Yeah. Was a great movie. Would’ve been better if you were there though.”
Silence is the only thing heard between you two. The tv doing all the talking you need to fill in the empty air.
“My mom said Kianna was in here earlier. She trouble you at all?” You roll onto your other side to face him properly and play with his hoodie. “Nah, she tried to intimidate me but it didn’t work.” “Intimidate you how?” “Tried telling me she didn’t think I was good for you or whatever, but I literally don’t even know that chick. Why would I care?”
Jack hums in agreement as he snuggles closer to you. “She’s just upset cause I’m not dating her. I’ve never liked her, but I’ve been nice because she’s like my summer neighbor or whatever.” You smile and nod in acknowledgment.
“I don’t care what she thinks. Like I said, I don’t know her.” “My mom secretly hates her too, but don’t tell her I told you that.” He whispers and you smile.
“I love you so much.” He mumbles into your neck and you sigh in contentment. “I love you too, J.” You two share a few kisses before you hear knocking on the door.
“Hey. Tell y/n her favorite Hughes brother just came home.” “Quinn!” “Hey! I’m here too!” “Shut up Luke!”

Stella was laying in her bed ⸺ well technically the guest bed in the guest room in her brother's jack and Luke's apartment. She was having her annual visit, and it was the time of day where her brothers were both napping, and she wasn't in the mood to go out by herself. She was honestly feeling quite bored not having her brothers around to annoy, that's why she was aimlessly scrolling through TikTok. But her boredom was quickly healed when she watched the latest TikTok lily sent her, a mischievous smile forming on her lips as her mind already formed a plan.
Stella swiftly slipped out of bed and grabbed her hoodie and put it over her tank top before leaving the room. She heard the faint sound of her brother's voice coming from the kitchen, she could tell that they just woke up from their tone. Both of her brother's heads turned to her as she walked into the kitchen, Luke giving her a tired smile as Jack just groaned and rested his head on the cold island counter they were sitting at. “Can you grab us the milk?” Jack groaned tiredly and Stella rolled her eyes but got the milk for them, nonetheless, setting the carton next to the box of cereal the two were about to destroy.
Stella pulled out a box of fruit snacks and set them on the counter, only using that as a distraction so she could prop up her phone to film them without them seeing it. She started the video and gave the camera a wink before she turned around and faced her brothers who were shoveling cereal into their mouths. Stella leaned back against the counter and asked, “Can one of you drive me too best buy?”
“Sure! What do you need at best buy?” Luke was quick to agree, wanting to spend more time with his little sister, Jack looked at Stella curious on what she needed at best buy, he was about to open his mouth to offer to give her his card, but she was already talking. “Oh! I need to get a ring light, i left mine at home.”
“Why do you need a ring light?” Jack askes with a confused frown. Stella had to stop her lips from curling up into a smile at the genuine confusion, oh her poor brothers have no idea what they're getting into. Stella gave her brothers a smile and tries her best to sound as calm as she could as she speaks “Oh i need one to film my new only fans video and i left mine at home.”
Stella bit her lip and turned to face the counter, pretending to do things, knowing that she would not be able to face her brothers without bursting out into laughter. The camera perfectly got both of her brothers' reactions. Luke choked on his cereal in shock and started coughing. Jack dropped his spoon in his bowl as his body went still in shock as he looked at the back of his little sister's head.
“What did you just say?” Jack asked his sister, hoping that he and Luke heard wrong. There was no way she was serious ⸺ she couldn't be. Stella let out a quiet breath and tried to collect herself before turning around to face her brothers. She turned back around to face her brothers, holding everything in so she wouldn't laugh, she gives them a smile pretending to be unbothered “I need to get a ring light so i can film my on⸺”
“We heard you!” Luke quickly cut Stella off after catching his breath from his fit of coughs, he shook his head in disgust he did not want to hear his sister repeat it. Jack looks at his sister in fear and shakes his head no, repeatedly muttering no under his breath. Poor boy was stressed. “Stella, you can't be serious! You can't have only fans” Jack nearly shouted as he placed both of his hands on the island counter.
“And you sure as hell can't film your . . . your videos in our guest bedroom” Luke scoffs his face twisted in disgust, he did not need to know this about his sister, and he did not need to think of what she could be doing in their guest bedroom. “Gross” Jack whined in disgust at his younger brother's words.
“Why not I really need the money” Stella did her best to frown, giving her brothers her puppy eyes that she knew always worked in her favor, but this time it was different, they were not going to fall for it. Jack's eyes nearly pop out of his sockets at his sister's revelation, she was doing this because she needed money? He quickly reached into his pocket for his wallet while Luke questioned her in shock “Money? Your doing this for money?”
“Obviously” stella giggled with a shrug of her shoulder, gently biting her lip to hold in her laughter when she sees Luke hold his head in his hands and jack hold out his wallet for her “Here take my wallet, buy whatever you want as long as you delete your account.”
“Awee you're going to buy my ring light for me?” Stella playfully cooed as she reached for the wallet, very much enjoying messing with her brothers. Luke's eyes widen and he quickly snatches Jack's wallet before she could grab it, over his dead body. Luke scoffs at the audacity “Neither of us are going to sponsor your bad decisions.”
“Oh, trust me i don't need any more sponsors” stella stated as she tried her best to sound innocent and oblivious. Luke's mouth dropped in shock and Stella was sure she was going to see steam coming out of Jack's ears any second now. Jack pulled his phone out of his pocket with a mission “Thats it I'm calling Quinn, he can talk some sense into your delusional ass self.”
Stella’s eyes widen and she quickly grabs jacks' phone out of his hands before he could get the chance to call their eldest brother, she also wanted to pull this prank on Quinn when she comes to visit, and she wasn't going to have them ruin that even though she wasn't really looking forward to it. Stella quickly shouted when she noticed the two heated stares from her brothers “Wait! Wait! It's just a prank!”
Neither of her brothers believed her until she broke out into a fit of giggles and turned around to grab her phone, lifting it up and showing them that they were being filmed. A loud laugh leaves her lips at the sight of her brother's reaction to her phone. Both of their shoulders sag in relief and Jack drops his head onto the island counter and lets out a loud groan of annoyance, while Luke just crosses his arms and glares at his sister. Yes, he was relieved that it was all fake, but his heart was almost beating out of his chest from the stress she just put him through.
Stella gives the camera a small smile before stopping it, she slides it into her pocket and clears her throat and gives both of her brothers an awkward smile. She could tell that they both were a little upset from the prank. Stella tries her best to sound enthusiastic as she asks her two now grumpy brothers “Who wants to help me plan out the same prank for quinny!”
Now that got a smile on both of their lips . . .
Now Stella was way more nervous to pull the prank on quinn than she was with Jack and Luke. Quinn was different. She knew it was just a prank, but she was still scared to see Quinn’s reaction. She was honestly going to blow the whole prank off, but she was starting to get annoyed by the many texts from an impatient Jack asking her if she's done it yet. Not only was she nervous to do it, but there was also just not a good time for her to do it yet.
She has been busy almost every day, going out with her brother almost every day, Elias and Brock joining them. She was having a great time, so she really didn't want to ruin it by pranking her older brother by making him believe she was starting an only fans account. But she said she would, and Stella doesn't go back on her word. Ever.
Stella quickly glanced at her brother who was focusing on the video game he was playing on the living room tv. They were spending the day inside, neither of them wanting to go out during the hot day. Stella discretely sets up her phone against a pillow next to her, her phone getting a good view of both of the siblings who're sitting next to each other.
Stella lets out a nervous sigh before quickly starting the video and leans back on the couch, letting her phone get a great view of both of their side profiles. Quinn was leaning forward with his arms on his knees and a controller in his hand. Stella sat Criss cross on the couch and tilted her head to look at quinn as she spoke “Quinn i have to tell you something.”
“Hmm yeah, what is it?” Quinn quickly glanced back and forth from his sister and the tv a few times before settling his gaze back on the tv. Stella nervously bit her lip for a second, quickly glancing at the camera before looking back at her brother. She spoke calmly “I think I'm going to start an only fans.”
Quinn physically recoiled in shock at his sister's words, and the both of them were surprised that his neck didn't snap with how fast it turned to her. The controller dropped out of his hand and hit the rug covered floor. His eyebrows furrowed in confusion, not believing the words coming out of his sister's mouth “Excuse me?”
“I’m thinking of ⸺ “
“Why the fuck are you thinking about that?” Quinn asked in a sharp tone as he fully twisted his body to face her. Stella felt her lips twitch up at how high his tone got; it always did when he was upset. Stella pursed her lips before she could smile and ruin the prank, she continued to speak calmly “A lot of people have asked me ⸺ “
“Who the fuck is asking you that?” Quinn questioned stella, his tone angry as he thought of people trying to convince his little sister to start an account, fucking perves his hissed in his mind. No! Quinn was not going to let this happen. She must not be thinking straight, he continued to think.
“You’d be surprised, apparently I'd make a lot of money!” Stella pretends to be excited at the thought, even giving Quinn a smile. Oh, he's so going to kill me, Stella thought to herself as she watched her brother's concerned expression turn into anger. Quinn shook his head in disbelief, bringing his hand up to rub at his temples as he closed his eyes, a sigh of stress leaving his lips before he opened his eyes and looked back at his sister.
“Estella, you are 19 years old! You should still be playing with your barbies or somethin!”
“The minimum age is eighteen . . . I’ve been researching it” Stella hummed as she nodded, biting her lip to stop herself from giggling at the dramatic exhale he let out.
“Oh, is that right” quinn muttered sarcastically under his breath, he didn't know how to approach the situation. He definitely did not agree with the idea of Stella doing that, but he also didn't want her to feel like he was judging her or was disappointed in her . . . but he knew it was a little late for that from his reaction. Quinn let out another sigh before speaking much more calmly “Stella . . . is this really something you want to do?”
“I think so” she mumbled, starting to feel bad from how stressed he looked.
“Well, I um . . . all I ask is that you really think about it okay?” Quinn spoke softly as he reached for Stella's hand, softly squeezing it. Yes, he wanted to forbid her from doing it, but he also didn't want to take her choice away from her, she had to make the choice herself, and he didn't want her to feel embarrassed to talk about things with him. He continued to speak as he locked eyes with Stella “This is a big decision, you know. Once things go on the internet, they never come off. Just really think if this is what you want to do.”
Stella internally awes at Quinn's words, his initial reaction showed that he did not agree and was not happy with her words, but he calmed down and gave her a mature and sweet response. Quinn lets out a surprised “Oh!” when he feels Stella lunges towards him, wrapping her arms around his shoulder for a hug. Quinn is confused for a second, but he quickly returns the hug. Stella squeezes her eyes shut and speaks loud enough for her phone to pick it up “It's just a prank.”
“What!?” Quinn exclaims as she pulls back from the hug, a giggle leaving Stella's lips at the confused look Quinn gives her. “It's just a prank quinny” Stella gets out between her loud laughter, her head tilting back against the couch. Quinn let out a heavy sigh, his body still tense even with the confession of it being a prank, he had to make sure “So you're not going to make an only fans?”
“No, I'm not, don't worry!” Stella continues to giggle, her laughter only getting louder when Quinn lets himself lean back on the couch, his hand resting over his fast-beating heart. Quinn shuts his eyes and lets himself calm down, his body relaxing. “Oh, thank god!”
“Why would you do that stella! Are you trying to kill me?” Quinn quickly shouts as he sits back up, many questions running through his mind. Who gave her the idea to do this? Why would she do this? And do you think I can guilt trip her into cooking dinner?
“It was Jack's idea!” Stella was quick to throw her brother under the bus, quickly reaching to grab her phone to pause the video before it got too long. Quinn's eyes widen, and a look of betrayal comes across his face at the fact that she videotaped the whole thing. The last thing the camera gets is a shocked Quinn looking over a giggling Stella's shoulder.
Stella tilts her head to look at her brother who got really quiet, her eyes widening at the glare he was giving her. She noticed a familiar look of mischief in his eyes, and she quickly got up from the couch and rushed down the hallway to hide in the guestroom, just as she closed the door, she heard the sound of his loud footsteps and the sound of him shouting.
“Estella!”

chapter eight
The sun has long breached the moon, warm afternoon light blanketing Pandora by the time you approach Home tree.
Your fingers, interlocked tightly with Lo’ak’s, tremble as anxiety surges through your chest. Wide eyes dance over the huge, overreaching leaves of the place you so recently considered home, the sound of the clan’s morning activities fluttering to your ears.
“Wait!” You suddenly jerk to a halt, free hand latching onto Lo'ak's bicep.
He stops beside you, just before the tree line breaks into the wide gathering area. Your eyes round with unease, searching for comfort within his warm gaze.
A soft breath falls from his lips, chest tightening at the sight of you so on edge. A large hand cradles the side of your head gently. You instantly lean into his touch, a fraction of tension releasing.
“Hey...” He coos, guiding you forward so he can place a kiss in the center of your forehead. He leans back slowly, head dipping to catch your eyes. “Nothing, and no one, will take you from me. Okay?”
You’re nervous, no, terrified to face his parents. You haven’t spoken a word to them, haven’t seen so much as a glimpse of them in nearly a week. Not since Jake so harshly yelled at you, so cruelly accused you of being a traitor.
Lo’ak‘a gaze remains steady on yours, unwavering in his love for you. He's completely serious, if any of his family members argue against your union, he has some choice words ready. Now that you're his for life, he won't let anyone disrespect you, no matter who they are.
“Okay.” You agree lowly, sending him a smile that doesn’t quite reach your eyes.
He nods reassuringly, fingers tightening around yours as he guides you forward, back toward the place where you’ll build your new home together. He barely makes it a step before a tall figure approaches, walking briskly through the brush.
In his haste, Neteyam nearly rams right into you. He’s the perfect picture of a poised leader on a mission, brow furrowed, shoulders square, bow slung tightly across his chest. He rears back in alarm, narrowly missing the two of you.
“Eywa!” He curses under his breath, eyes widening a fraction as he takes in the scene before him.
His spine straightens, tail flicking to attention at his back. His eyes narrow, trailing over the two of you scrutinizingly. At first, he’s surprised that you’re standing before him at all. After that day in the forest, when he stumbled upon you and your Ikran, he fully expected to never see you again.
But now, here you are. With his brother, the day after he disappeared without warning. The pieces start falling into place, Neteyam’s thoughts racing as he dissects in the sight of the two of you together. Together walking from the woods, with your hands clasped and—oh, shit.
“Baby bro, you didn’t.” There’s a rough warning beneath his words, head tilting to the side almost pleadingly.
Lo’ak forces down a hoarse swallow, lifting his chin in defiance. His hold on you is firm, bordering on painful as he meets Neteyam’s glare with one of his own. Daring him to challenge the union. The older Sully groans, eyes falling closed as he pinches the bridge of his nose in irritation.
“I shouldn’t be surprised.” He sighs heavily, molten eyes shifting to you.
You’re tempted to curl inward, to crumble beneath his judgmental gaze, but you remain strong. You have no regrets about mating with Lo’ak. You’ve chosen him as your partner for the rest of your life, and nothing anyone says or does can change that now.
With a dismissive shake of his head, Neteyam turns to go back the way he came, seemingly abandoning whatever he was about to do.
“Wait! Where are you going?” Lo’ak steps forward, arm outstretched and ready to stop him from getting to their parents before he can.
“As far from here as possible.” He doesn’t stop, doesn’t even spare a retreating glance before disappearing through thick foliage.
Your brows furrow worriedly, sharp teeth catching your lower lip as anxiety quickly mounts. Lo’ak groans quietly beside you, irritated that your first greeting wasn’t a pleasant one. Before you can dwell on it, he’s pulling you behind him, over the last remaining barrier between you and your future home.
The second your foot touches warm soil, a loud, ear-piercing scream echoes through the base of Home Tree. It makes your shoulders hunch, muscles pulled taunt in alarm. Your eyes widen, as do most of the clan's as they whip around to see what the fuss is about.
A moment later, you crumble to the ground under the weight of a tiny body colliding with yours. Your hand is ripped from Lo'ak, who bursts into a fit of laughter beside you. Your arms instantly curl around Tuk’s middle, turning carefully to ensure you'll take the brunt of the fall.
“You left me!” Her face is scrunched into a deep scowl, nose wrinkled, small lips pulled into a frown.
She pouts down at you from her new position, perched on your stomach. You can't help but smile, heart skipping a beat at the sight of her. Despite the clear anger pointed your way, nothing but joy floods your system at having her close again. You didn’t want to dwell on it while convincing yourself you’d never see this place again, but you missed her like crazy.
Slowly, you sit up, pulling her into a tight embrace in the process. She tucks into you without hesitation, face smooshing against your chest. Her little arms wrap around your waist, returning the hug with her full strength.
“I’m sorry, Tuk.” You murmur soothingly, head falling to rest on top of hers.
A huge, boyish grin splits Lo'ak's face, arms crossing as he watches the scene unfold. Warmth blooms in his chest at the sight of the bond you share with his baby sister. He knew she missed you, couldn't escape the constant questions about where you'd gone and when you'd be back every moment you were away.
“You skxawng (idiot)!” A new voice interrupts, your head instantly tilting up in recognition.
Despite the insult, a soft smile pulls at Kiri's lips as she approaches casually. You match her expression, moisture prickling at the corners of your eyes. You're quick to blink away the tears, a surge of embarrassment bringing color to your cheeks.
You didn't expect to feel this swarm of emotions, didn't anticipate being overwhelmed by the sight of your two closest friends welcoming you home with open arms. Kiri leans down, offering a helping hand. Your fingers slide into hers easily, gratitude brightening your expression as she pulls you up from the ground.
Tuk bounces to her feet beside you, hopping up and down excitedly. A giggle bubbles in your chest, tension gradually releasing the longer you're in the presence of her playful spirit.
A sudden, quiet gasp has your attention snapping back to Kiri. Her fingers twitch against yours, grip tightening to an almost painful degree. Her eyes pop wide, flicking between you and her brother.
“Did you...?” She pulls you in by the firm hold on your arm, words a breathless whisper into your ear as you stumble against her chest.
The color of your cheeks deepens, heat blanketing your neck and chest. Of course, she’d sense it, long before you could even formulate a plan to tell her. All you can do is nod, stomach flipping with unease. Your heart soars at the way her mouth pulls into a slow grin, relief flooding you when she doesn’t appear upset.
“Tuk, Y/N is our sister now.” She peers down at her with a hint of pride, the youngest Sully’s eyes popping wide in shock at the declaration.
Warmth swells in your chest, heart fluttering between your ribs. The whisper of belonging tickles your insides, weakens your knees. Threatens to bring you back to the ground with wave after wave of intense emotion.
“Is it true? Is it true?” She jumps up and down, beaming at you with such adoration, it makes tears spring to your eyes all over again.
The huge grin on your face must be confirmation enough because she lets out another scream, the excited wail echoing through Home Tree. You’re quick to shush her, gaze hastily scanning the area. You force down a thick swallow at the sea of concerned eyes that are already trained on your little group.
A low rumble has begun within the clan as they notice your presence. Many have paused their duties, instead openly staring as you’re greeted by the Olo’eyktan’s children. The weight of their judgement, the mounting questions you know you’ll soon be forced to answer, settles onto your shoulders.
The tightness around your spine returns in full force, muscles already aching from being pulled so taunt.
“Girls.” At the sound of a familiar rough voice, your smile falters.
Kiri’s hand drops yours, instead tucking against her chest as she folds into herself protectively. You realize she’s bracing for impact, steeling herself from the predictable wrath of her father before it arrives.
“Go back to your chores.” Jake’s expression is all hard lines, brow furrowed, lips pursed, eyes narrowed as they seem to dissect each one of you in the little circle.
“But dad! Y/N is—” Tuk begins excitedly, still beaming despite the obvious shift in everyone else’s demeanor.
“Now.” He barks, using a tone usually reserved only for his sons.
Lo’ak shifts at your back, long fingers curling around your bicep. You send him a questioning glance over your shoulder, but he only shakes his head before gently pulling you against him. You don’t fight the motion, instead relying on his stability as you lean into his chest. One of his arms slides along your stomach, holding you against him firmly.
Tuk deflates, not used to receiving such harsh orders from her father. Her shoulders slump, tiny lips pursing in irritation. Kiri is quick to wrap an arm around her, murmuring softly as she all but drags her away. Her eyes round as they slide toward you one last time, silently wishing you good luck.
Your heart rate instantly skyrockets at the impatient click of Jake's tongue. Hesitantly, your gaze meets his, stomach churning with unease. A long breath falls from his pursed lips, hard eyes sweeping down your form quickly.
“Believe it or not, I'm happy to see you in one piece, kid.” His voice is deep, rough despite the kind words. It's clear that something dark is brewing just beneath the surface as his attention snaps over your shoulder, tone sharpening. “Is what your brother says true?”
He chooses to speak in English, hoping to maintain a semblance of privacy for this conversation. The clan has no shame in the way they watch their leader with curious eyes, slowly forming a large circle around the three of you.
Fucking Neteyam, Lo'ak hisses internally, stiffening against you. He pulls you in closer, narrowed gaze shifting over the crowd, ready to piece at the slightest movement toward you.
“We are mated before Eywa.” His chin lifts confidently, words strong as they leave his lips with conviction.
Quiet sounds of shock roll through the clan, hushed murmurs making your ears flatten against your head. Jake lets out a short hiss of displeasure, expression tightening before it’s replaced with the usual hardened mask of dismissiveness. He looks away briefly, as if assessing the audience that continues to surround you.
“Listen close, son.” He leans toward you both, voice dropping to a tense whisper, pointing a finger right in Lo'ak's face. “I get it. I really do. Back in the day I would’ve done anything to be with your mom. But there are rules.”
Your breath hitches, ice cold dread seeping into your bones at the insinuation. There's no way he would...would he? You silently pray he’ll show you mercy, or at least try to understand where you’re coming from. You’d never forgive yourself if mating with you was the downfall of Lo’ak’s relationships with his family. His clan.
His fingers twitch against your stomach, pressing you further into his warmth. A low growl rumbles through his chest, vibrating the overworked muscles of your back. Your eyes pop wide at the threatening display he’s just showed his own father.
“I don't care. I love her, dad. I would do it again.” Your ears twitch at his affirmation, cheeks warming. You sink impossibly closer to him, needing the reassurance of his skin on yours in as many places as possible.
Jake suddenly stands to his full height, hands landing on his hips, an exasperated look crossing his face. His jaw clenches as he fights the urge to lay into Lo'ak for his blatant disrespect. The entire clan has now gathered in the area, and though he's disciplined his son many times in front of them, he doesn't want to cause a scene right now.
“Alright, let’s go, you two.” Long fingers pinch the bridge of his nose, another heavy sigh of disappointment leaving his lips. He turns in the direction of the Sully family tent, glare piercing straight through Lo'ak's questioning gaze. “I’m not facing your mother alone.”
With that, he stalks forward, expecting you to follow. You glance at Lo'ak nervously, the cord of panic squeezing your heart cinching tighter by the second. His lips quirk into the ghost of a smile, though the gesture doesn't reach his eyes.
He plants a quick kiss along your temple before shifting to your side. The arm that's been protectively wrapped around your waist doesn't waver as he guides you forward, following his father's lead. Your eyes cautiously trail over the dense sea of eyes as they part for you, before falling to the dirt, finding the scrutiny too much to bare.
Within a few short steps, the woven flap of their shared home slams shut behind you. A tremor wracks your body at the sight of Neytiri, hunched over a pile of fruit in the corner. Her rhythmic chopping halts instantly at the sudden presence in her home. She looks up, eyes widening when they land on Lo'ak.
She's on her feet in an instant, crossing the tent before anyone can even think about speaking.
“Oh, my youngest son.” She coos, relieved to see him whole and uninjured. He’d run off without so much as a goodbye, and she’d been worried sick, even ordering Neteyam only minutes ago to look for him.
Her expression drops, hardens when her eyes scan his form, catching on the way you're so tightly wrapped up against him.
“What is this?” The question is full of accusation, her gaze sharpening into the ferocious glare you've been dreading all day.
All you can do is watch as realization dawns. As she takes in the intimacy between you and her son, the way he holds you so protectively, like only a mate would do. She sees so much of Jake in her youngest boy, recognizes the defiant square of his shoulders all too well.
A soft gasp lodges in her throat, a shaky hand covering her mouth as she rears back as if she's been struck. Her eyes widen, utter horror darkening the usual bright glowing yellow. They jump between all three of you, as if unsure who to blame for this.
“Lo'ak, do not tell me...”
“It is done.” He instantly defends, voice even though his jaw is already clenching in preparation for the fallout.
Neytiri hisses aggressively, taking a few steps to the side, then back the way she came, pacing in front of you. Her tail flicks upward, standing at attention against her spine. She looks every bit the fearsome hunter she is, steely glare piercing straight to your core as she zeroes in on you.
“You have brought shame to this family!” She spits, looking at you like you've just committed the most egregious sin. Like her family is falling apart, and you're the cause.
“Don’t act like you didn’t do the same thing with dad.” Lo'ak growls, pulling you tighter against his side, the harsh tone of his accusation earning another hiss from his mother.
“Hey! Watch your mouth, boy.” Jake takes a step forward, narrowed eyes catching his son's pointedly. He stands at the ready only inches away, prepared to step in if things escalate.
“I did not mate with your father until he became one of The People! You will throw away your future for this—for her?” Despite the reservations she still harbors, she can't bring herself to call you a vrrtep (demon) any longer.
She recognizes everything you've done for the clan. For her family. You've brought Kiri out of her shell, given Tuk some direction, calmed Lo’ak’s rebellious spirit. Mo'at never stops singing your praises, even going so far as to suggest that Eywa would bless a union with Neteyam—had you not been so smitten with his brother—due to your skill within the Tsahik tent.
But you are still other. No matter how much she has secretly grown to tolerate you, she would never choose such a match for the son of Toruk Makto. Every union their children commit to holds weight, impacts the perception of the entire family. They must be strong to protect the clan, to be effective leaders.
“Okay, you know what? I'm just going to say it.” You release a tense breath, jerking free of Lo’ak’s tight hold as anger licks up your spine.
There's only so much you can take, so much judgement, so many harsh words before you have to stand up for yourself. For your relationship with Lo'ak. The thinly veiled restraint you've been desperately holding onto lays at your feet in tattered shreds as you take a step forward, ignoring the quiet plea from behind to calm down.
“Your mate used to the human! Used to be an Avatar!” A finger points harshly in Jake's direction, though your molten stare remains locked on Neytiri. “I have learned your ways, just like he did! I claimed an Ikran, just like he did! I have as much right to be one of The People as he did!”
Neytiri stills before you, fists clenched tightly at her sides, lethal glare blazing a hole straight through your tough exterior. Truthfully, you're terrified, trembling where you stand, heart clattering between your ribs harshly.
“You do not speak of Ma Jake!” She hisses, chin dropping menacingly, tail flicking back and forth harshly.
“I have been nothing but kind to you, and you have refused to even try to see me.” You're a bit breathless, surprised yourself at the way you've just spoken to her.
You never wanted it to be like this, never imagined this kind of tension could exist simply because of who you are. Who you love.
“I cannot see what does not exist.” She grunts, hard eyes slicing to Lo'ak, still wound tightly behind you. “All you do is take.”
“It won't be me that takes your son away, Neytiri, but your own prejudice.” A humorless laugh falls from your chest before you can stop it, stomach flipping with anger and frustration.
At the snap of your harsh words, the dam breaks, an animalistic snarl cutting the thick silence before Neytiri pounces. She lunges for you, hands raised to strike, face tight with rage. You rear back instinctively, but it's useless as Jake and Lo'ak rush to step between you.
“That's enough!” Jake roars, one hand wrapping around his mate's shoulders while the other locks around her waist, hauling her against his front.
She growls and fights against his firm hold for only a moment before allowing him to drag her away. Meanwhile, Lo'ak covers your body with his, crouching as he hisses at his mother dangerously. It feels foreign, wrong, the action shattering a fraction of his heart.
Under normal circumstances, he would never dream of disrespecting her in such a way. But now, he has no choice, he would die before allowing anyone to lay a hand on you in his presence. Even his own family.
When his parents are safely on the other side of the tent, he turns to you, both hands cradling your face tenderly.
“Tam, Tam (there, there), baby, mawey (calm).” He murmurs, lips caressing the skin of your forehead before he tucks you into his side.
Every one of your muscles is tense, trembling with pent up emotion. Your chest heaves against his, ragged breaths attempting to soothe your racing heart. Your arms wrap around his waist, looking for stability as you try calming raging emotions.
It's given you a tiny sense of release, having finally defended yourself the way you've been aching to since the moment you arrived in Home Tree. But still, it hasn't made anything better, hasn't relieved even a touch of the hostility that's palpable within the small space.
Lo'ak turns to face his parents, brow pinched in anger. He doesn't want to choose between you and his family, but he will without hesitation. He openly glares at Jake and Neytiri, something he'd never dare before this moment. Before everything crumbled right in front of him.
“Muntxa (mate),” He coos the term of endearment pointedly, sending a clear message as one of his hands trails soothingly down your spine. “Why don't you tell them what you told me?”
Your face jerks toward his as you lean back, creating a few inches of space that allow you to gaze up at him in question.
“I don't think now is a good time, Lo’ak.” Your words drip with uncertainty, completely lost as to why he would bring this up now.
“Tell us what?” Jake is already on high alert, spine straightening as his hold on Neytiri loosens a fraction. She's calmed in his arms, resigning herself to glaring at you from across the room.
A rough sigh leaves your lips, anxiety rearing its ugly head once again. You planned on delivering this news gently, over dinner or maybe even a warm fire. Definitely not like this, when emotions are already so high. Truthfully, you wanted to have this conversation privately, first sharing the information between you and Jake alone.
Lo’ak nods encouragingly, hoping you’ll follow his direction. He wants to show his parents that you’re on their side, that you’re fully committed to the clan. He knows this will help, and even if it’s not the best time, you don’t have much of that left anyway.
With another deep breath, your shoulders square, muscles tight in preparation to drop the bombshell.
“Two days ago, when I was at the lab, we received a correspondence. From an incoming ship.” Your voice is quiet, even as you brace yourself for the worst.
Jake drops his hold on Neytiri instantly, stalking forward a few steps in shock before reining in his rising emotions. No, no, it can't be, the words echo through his mind like a prayer. With two simple sentences, his worst fear has just come true.
“What are you saying?” He rasps, fists already clenched as every one of his muscles coils painfully tight.
“It was a hostile branch of the RDA. They were sending out feelers, trying to see if any humans survived the last two decades.” Your chin dips, apprehension clouding your mind at the look of pure horror on Jake's face. Your voice drops to a low whisper as you deliver the final piece of information you have. “They're supposed to land in five days.”
“No, no.” He's the one pacing now, eyes wide as they flick wildly around the tent, looking for something solid. He turns on you, a sudden gleam of accusation beneath his glare. “If that were true, Norm would've reached out.”
“He did.” Your brow pinches with confusion as you watch the always poised leader practically have a panic attack right in front of you.
He stops suddenly, recalling with agitation that he hadn't checked the tech tent within the last day. He'd been distracted, looking for Lo'ak.
“Fuck.” He rasps, turning on his heel to flee the tent in a few quick strides.
Just like that, the conversation is over, the issue of your union with Lo’ak seeming so petty now.
Silence blankets the room, palpable tension the only thing remaining in Jake’s absence. Your eyes sweep toward Neytiri cautiously, but she merely hisses before stalking through the door after him.
You’re left standing there, stomach turning with unease. Though Lo’ak instantly pulls you into him, wrapping you in the warm strength of his embrace, it does little to fill the gaping hole in your chest.
Because, after all this time, you’re no closer to belonging than when you first arrived.
A frustrated huff leaves your pursed lips, brows pinched in concentration as you try—and fail—to focus on the task at hand.
Your fingertips are raw, skin battered by constant wear. The last several days have been a flurry of preparation. You've done little else but sit, hunched over well-used tools as you sharpen spears and arrowheads.
With one final swipe of stone against wood, you lift the jagged weapon up close for inspection. It's not great, but it will do. You toss it to the side, ignoring the sharp clatter as it tumbles onto the pile of finished products.
Your head lifts for a brief moment before grabbing the next log, eyes scanning the open area of Home Tree. A tiny breath of relief falls from your lips when they land on Lo'ak, dutifully helping Jake fit the newest group of warriors with their own woven chest pieces to mark their rising rank within the clan.
You haven't seen much of him since the fight in his family's tent. You've chosen to remain in your hammock at night. Traditionally, mates sleep together in the family home until they are ready to build a tent of their own, but there's no way you could subject yourself—or the rest of the Sully's, frankly—to that level of awkward.
He visits you at night, showering you with kisses to make up for lost time, even falling asleep in the cramped space with you once after a particularly grueling day. Things are changing fast, and the Recombinant's, as you've learned they're called, haven't even arrived yet.
It's scary, not knowing what to expect. Not knowing how you fit into all of this, despite the effort you’ve put into finding your place.
Your ears twitch at the sound of soft footsteps approaching. Your spine straightens, relief flooding you at the welcome distraction. You’re expecting Kiri, or even Tuk, but quickly deflate at the sight of Neytiri. Instantly, your eyes fall to your lap, hands busying themselves with another log before she sits down beside you.
You're tucked away in a corner, near the tree line, enjoying some much needed quiet as you work. It's just been so hectic, the constant bustling around Home Tree grating on your already fried nerves. So, when Jake asked for your help with this, you immediately found the most secluded spot that left Lo’ak within your line of sight.
You desperately try ignoring the way Neytiri's eyes bore into the side of your head, urging you to look at her.
“It is time.” Her voice is surprisingly soft as her eyes dance along your features, lips pressed into a firm line.
You can’t help but glance up at her in question, the cryptic phrasing making your heart leap with anxiety.
Unbeknownst to you, or anyone else, she has been watching you. She would never admit it, but your words from that day have stuck with her. They've nestled into the back of her mind, prodding each time her gaze finds you, rushing around her home to help in any way you can.
She has seen you prepare salves and balms with her mother and daughter, skillfully mixing ingredients almost as fluently as they do. It hit her, that day, how hard you must've worked all those weeks after Mo'at took you under her wing.
She's watched with careful eyes as you tend to the children, calming and entertaining not only Tuk, but now her friends by the raging fire each night. The other women have noticed, too, gazing upon you with soft smiles, and a hint of adoration.
Most importantly, she has seen how Jake guides you under his diligent instruction, looking after you as if you are one of his own. She sees the parallels between you, can understand why he's defended you all this time. Your dedication to the clan is clear, so obvious in fact that she's kicking herself, wondering how it took so long to realize.
“I will only say this one time, so listen close. I am sorry.” She knows she's been too harsh, too rigid. Eywa, even her youngest has been more welcoming.
She doesn't regret the protective instinct that drove her judgement, she would do anything to keep her children out of harms way. But at this point, she does recognize that maybe, just maybe, she let the fact that you're different cloud her mind, prevent her from seeing you as she should've a long time ago.
Your eyes pop wide in surprise, breath catching at the words you never imagined hearing from her.
“I can’t promise to always make the right decisions, but I will try.” The admission is gentle as she peers at you with rounded eyes, nothing but warmth shining within the bright yellow. “I know how Lo’ak feels, it is how I felt about Ma Jake. Though I wish you would have waited to mate, I should not expect anything else from my son.”
You're stunned, completely frozen as your brain slowly processes the words you've been dying to hear for weeks.
“I know I have not been fair to you, but for as long as you treat my son well, I will be happy to call you my daughter.” One of her hands rests gently on your shoulder, a tiny smile pulling at her lips.
A ragged breath leaves your quivering lungs, vision blurring. Your heart soars, chest caving with a quiet cry as tears slip freely down your cheeks. Finally, the last piece of the puzzle has clicked into the place. The last thing you needed to feel whole, to fully step into your new life—whether you would admit it or not—is her acceptance. And now you have it.
Your hand moves to cover hers, a wobbly smile the only response you can muster. For the first time in your twenty years here on the moon, you feel seen. Truly and fully seen by everyone that matters.
Now that you have her blessing, the only thing left to do is become one of The People in the eyes of the Great Mother, before the entire clan.
Excitement coils in your stomach, eyes glittering at the prospect of completing your own ceremony. Of emerging from this turbulent time better off, closer to the most authentic version of yourself.
There’s no doubt in your mind as Neytiri eagerly jumps into action beside you, helping to finish the last of the spears before eclipse blankets Home Tree in darkness, that you’re exactly where you were always meant to be.
That you’re exactly who you were always meant to be.

prompt: Trevor has a thing for Quinn's best friend
word count: 3,056
warnings: mentions throwing up
“You got everything,” Quinn asks closing the trunk of the car. I give him and nod and follow him up the driveway and to the lakehouse. This is my first year as a guest here, it only took months of begging Q for him to invite me. We met on a blind date set up by Brock that ended up just not working out. In just a few short weeks he had become my very best friend. I knew the reason he wasn’t over the moon about me being here had nothing to do with me, and all to do with his brothers and friends.
He warned me that the guys were a lot and that if any of them did or said anything to let him know. Quinn very quickly settled into the role of big brother in my life, he could just be a tad overprotective. My thoughts were interrupted by yelling and a loud thud. I shoot him a look and he just shrugs and rolls his eyes. “Still wanna spend two weeks here with these idiots,” he asks opening the door and letting me step in first.
It takes the guys a second to notice us, but when they do the room becomes eerily quiet. One of them smacked another,” Jack you didn’t say Quinner was bringing a girl home.” Quinn puts a hand on the small of my back and leads us to the staircase,” ignore them.” I take one more look at the couch full of guys and they all watch us go up the stairs. “Here we are,” he says ushering me into a room. After doing a quick look around I noticed a few framed pictures on the dresser. Dropping my bag on the bed, I pick up a picture of the three Hughes boys when they were younger. “Q you were so cute,” I gush showing him the picture. “What like I’m not now,” he jokes which results in me throwing a pillow at him.
“Sorry we have to share a room, it’s just I had no idea they were gonna stay longer,” he started but I quickly cut him off. “Quinn it’s fine. It’s not like it will be the first time we have shared a bed before. It may be the first time when we are both sober though,” I laugh and start unpacking some of my things. “Depending on how these goofs act I may not be sober tonight,” he sighs walking into the bathroom and turning on the shower. “I’ll be out in a minute,” he yells. “Okay sounds good,” I yell back. After thirty seconds I am bored and decide to check out the rest of the house.
My steps on the stairs alert the packed living room and nine heads all snap in my direction. I give them a smile and walk into the room settling on the floor next to a guy wearing a habs hat. “So what are you guys playing,” I ask looking over at them. “Mario Kart. I’m Cole by the way. I’m one of Jack’s friends,” the boy next to me says holding his hand out and I give it a gentle shake. “I don’t know if Quinn told you but I’m Y/n,” I say more to the group. “He in fact did not,” the guy behind me said and I leaned my head backwards to see his face. He gives me a wide smile which I return. Even upside down, he was cute.
“Uhm no ma’am. Nope. Not happening,” Quinn says coming into the room and making a beeline for me. “What did I do,” I ask confused. “It’s not you. Quinn and Z have a love-hate relationship,” Jack laughs. “Yeah Trev loves Quinn and Quinn loves to hate Trev,” Luke jokes causing the whole room to erupt in laughter. “Trevor move,” Quinn says standing waiting beside the couch giving him a stern dad look. Laughing and rolling his eyes Trevor does get up and move but not before leaning down and whispering,” We will continue this later,” followed by a small wink.
“No, you won’t. Anyway, Y/n these are the idiots you will be coexisting with the next two weeks. You already know Jack and Luke. This is Alex, Cole, Mark, Ethan, Dylan, and Mackie. And I see you’ve already met Trevor,” he sighs. Even though he may act like it, I can see a brotherly type of love between the two. After a couple more rounds of the game, we all decide to head outside and hang out. “C’mon Mackie be my partner,” Mark whines looking at the curly-haired boy who just laughs. “No way. Do you remember the last time we teamed up in beer pong,” he asked the tall blonde. Mark gives him a very confused face and shakes his head no.”Exactly. We were too drunk to remember because you suck.”
“I’ll be your partner. That is if that is okay with you,” I say walking up to the table. “Really,” he asks excitedly. I have enough time to nod my head once before he pulls me into a bear hug. I laugh and wrap my arms around him hugging him back. “You’ll have to excuse Mark. His love language is physical touch,” Ethan says coming up and standing by us. “No problem. Mine is too. It’s nice to be around someone else because it takes almost everything to get Quinny to cuddle with me,” I joke staying tucked into Mark’s side, more like trapped but I didn’t complain. “Whatever,” I hear Quinn grumbled from one of the lawn chairs near the table. I give him and smile and wink at him. He laughs along with Alex, Cole, and Jack who are all seated near him.
“Okay so me and Duker versus Y/n and Mark,” Luke says setting up the cups. I’m handed the ball first because “ladies first.” I laughed at a bunch of college hockey players being so persistent on the rule. Lining up my shot I take a deep breath and sink the ball into the red plastic cup. Everyone gives me a shocked look, except Quinn and Mark. Q knew that I was good at this and Mark was just happy about maybe winning a game for once. “She literally went to a party college,” my best friend points out. “Why didn’t you tell us that before,” Luke groans drinking the warm beer from the cup. There was no telling how long they had sat in the hot sun before we started the game. His older brother sent him a shrug,” You didn’t ask.”
After several scores from both sides, it was time for hopefully the final shot. Duker and Luke had two cups left in front of Mark and me, while we had one cup in front of them. Mark stands behind me and gives my shoulders a rub like a coach would his prized boxer. I couldn’t help but laugh at the younger boy who shushed me. “Hey, this is important Y/n. I can’t tell you how long it’s been since I have won one of these games,” he starts out with a serious face and then lets out one of the loudest laughs I have ever heard. Ignoring all the guys I move forward to take my shot and sink yet another ball.
The cheering would have made you think someone had won the Stanley Cup. I am quickly picked up and swung around. “You are my permanent partner,” Mark jokes finally putting me down. “What about when school starts back,” I ask laughing at the boy. “You’ll just have to come back with me. You can take my room I’ll sleep on the couch.” I shake my head at him,” All to win a game of beer pong.”
After winning two more games I excuse myself from the guys and walk towards the house. I stop by Quinn on the way,” You need another beer while I’m up.” He just nods and gives me a smile while still listening to Cole tell a story. Stepping inside I head to the kitchen where I see Trevor sitting on the counter eating a piece of watermelon. “You plan on sharing that or just hiding in here eating it all,” I laugh scaring him. “Shit. You scared me I didn’t hear you come in,” he says putting down the fruit and placing a head on his heart. I roll my eyes at his dramatics and walk to the fridge grabbing out a drink for me and Quinn’s beer. Turning around I walk towards the counter Trevor is on and lean against it.
“I guess I’ll share with you. But just don’t tell the guys because it will be gone in like 0.2 seconds,” he laughs and his bright blue eyes crinkle when he does. I take a small piece from him and pop it into my mouth. “Oh my god. This is so good,” I almost let out a moan at how sweet it was. “Right. It has got to be like the top ten I have ever had,” he says handing me another. “More like top three,” I smile up at him. After staring at him for a second I nod my head towards the door,” I should get Q his drink before he sends a search party.” He nods and slides off the counter moving to hold open the back door for me. “Why thank you, kind sir,” I say with a terrible British accent. “What kind of gentlemen would I be if I let a pretty girl hold her own door,” he smiles down at me.
Red rushes onto my cheeks as we make our way to join the group at the firepit. Quinn spots us walking up and pats the seat next to him. “Here you go,” I say passing him his beer while making eye contact with Trevor who was sitting directly across from me. “So Y/n you never told us how you and doofus met,” Jack smiles at his brother before turning his attention to me. I immediately laugh and try to cover it with my hand before anyone hears it. “Don’t you dare,” Quinn looks down at me and pinches my calves that are thrown over his legs. “C’mon Quinny. It’s not that bad. We’ve talked about this,” I tell him rubbing his arm. “Oh now we have to know,” Duker says leaning forward and resting his elbows on his knees all zoned in.
I glance at Quinn, who is hiding his face behind his hands. “I live in the same apartment building as Brock right? So one day he told me about this teammate he has that he wanted to set me up with,” I started and was cut off by the oohing and ahhing of everyone around us. “Anyway he sets up the date and tells me when and where to meet Q. Everything was going fine, he was a total gentleman, made me laugh, and all that cutesy shit. After that is when it went downhill,” I say while locking eyes with my best friend, silently asking if I could continue. He nods and rolls his eyes preparing for the bullying.
“So we were walking around this park and all of a sudden I noticed Quinn stop. I turn around and see that he is super pale-looking and sweaty. As I reached up to feel his forehead, he tried to stop me from getting too close but it was too late. He puked all over my legs and shoes,” I laughed remembering the look on his face when he finally stopped. He was so sad and embarrassed. “I ended up taking him back to his place and taking care of them for the whole night and most of the next day,” I finish my story taking a sip of my drink. “Them,” Ethan asked from beside me. “Oh yeah, it ended up being some kind of bug that was going around the team. He and Petey were all miserable in their room while Brock was all laid out on the couch. Three grown men who were acting like babies,” I joke nudging Quinn with my foot.
After five minutes of laughter and chirping from the guys Quinn finally stops them. “Okay okay, I get it. I ruined a date with a pretty girl by throwing up on her,” he sighed. “But you got a new best friend out of it,” I smile. He nods his head,” Yeah any person who will take care of a guy she just met who also puked on her is best friend material,” he jokes. “You are way too good of a person,” Alex says causing a chorus of agreement. “Seriously. I probably would have left him in the street,” Luke laughs. I shake my head at the guys. “Well if we are telling bad first date stories, let me tell you guys about Mackie’s last date,” Ethan laughs trying to take some of the heat off Q. I reach over and give his hand a squeeze as a silent thank you.
Slowly everyone started to turn in, leaving only Jack, Trevor, and I outside. “You know what. I’m glad my brother puked on you,” Jack exclaims swaying as he stands up. I lean forward in case he falls, he had just a few too many tonight. “Oh really why is that,” I ask watching the brunette slowly stumble towards the house. “Because without it we wouldn’t have met you duh,” he yells from the porch and says goodnight. Trev and I share a look and burst out laughing. “Oh my gosh, he was so far gone,” I say getting up and moving to the seat Jack had just left, right next to the ducks player. He turns in his chair to look at me better. “That is nothing. You should have seen him at his 21st,” he says telling me all about how they had to talk the cop out of arresting Jack for petting a police horse while drunk.
The later that we stayed outside the cooler it got. The fire was starting to die down but the conversation wasn’t. I was learning that Trevor was a really easy person to talk to and I was really enjoying getting to know him. I shiver and I lean down and set my drink on the ground wrapping my arms around myself. “You cold,” he asks concerned. “A little but it’s fine. I’m pretty much always cold. Ask Quinn he keeps blankets and jackets everywhere so he doesn’t have to hear me complain,” I try to laugh off the shivers. He leans forward shrugs off his Team USA hoodie and holds it out towards me. “No Trev I can’t take this. I don’t want you to get cold,” I say lightly pushing it back to him, “Either you put it on or I’m putting it on for you.” I think about his words almost telling him to do it, but hearing a small voice in the back of my head telling me this was a bad idea. The voice sounded a lot like Quinn's.
“You know I’m really glad Q brought you,” he says looking out towards the dock and watching the water. “Yeah me too,” I smile at him. “You know even though he gives you a hard time he really does love you,” I say standing up and stretching. “Yeah,” he asks following suit and standing up checking the fire for any embers. “Totally. He gets so excited when you come to town and play him. Also, he talks about you just like he does Jack and Luke,” I confess as we walk into the house. “I don’t have an older brother, I’m the oldest. So he has kinda become that for me,” he whispers as we make our way into the kitchen throwing the empty bottles away from tonight.
“Yeah me too. He’s my best friend but he looks out for me like an older brother,” I say quietly washing the few dishes from dinner. Trevor slides in next to me bumping my hips with his as he takes them from me to dry. “So hypothetically if I wanted to see you again maybe when I come to town and play Q again what would you say to that,” he asks looking down at me. His eyes look even prettier in the dim kitchen light above the sink. “Hypothetically I would wonder why we have to wait that long when I am here now for two weeks,” I smile. He blushes and nods. “But that’s only hypothetical of course,” I lean up and give his cheek a small peck, then turn to walk upstairs. “Goodnight Trev,” I say turning around to see him in the same spot I left him in. “Goodnight,” he whispered almost too low for me to hear it.
I make my way into the room and climb into bed next to Quinn. He shifts in his sleep and throws an arm out pulling me into his chest and cuddling. I can’t help but smile at him and just let it happen, “Thank you for coming. The guys all really like you. Mom’s already texted asking to come down to meet you because of Jack and Luke’s praise,” his voice deep with sleep. “It would be an honor to meet Queen Ellen. I have so many questions,” I laugh into his chest falling asleep.
The next morning I wake up and head downstairs coming into the kitchen. “Morning,” I say to a room full of half-asleep hockey players. “Morning Y/n. Hey, who’s hoodie is that,” Quinn asks coming over to where I sat at the counter and handing me a cup of coffee. “Yours,” I respond with a quick glance to Trevor. “No. Mine is back in Van remember Milo used it as a chewing toy. His eyes look down at the hoodie and then over to the table. “Oh my gosh Y/n. Of all people Trevor seriously,” he whines hitting his head against the fridge lightly before looking up at me. “Guess you’ll be seeing a lot more of me during the year Quinny,” Trevor says walking over and throwing an arm around the Canuck’s player.
