Therefore, a man could argue, a woman needed protection (by him) from every other man. Thus the need of men in women was reinforced. Each man could maintain his hold on "his" woman by threatening her with what could possibly be done to her, in the absence of his protection, by the rest of the men. Which enables every man to make the same argument to "his" woman. By this system, no woman could afford to be without her "protector." But What the system omitted to make explicit, was that often, a woman's "protector" could also become her rapist as well.
