I think riko dying was such a grand and great metaphorical way to end the series because
"all for the game"
Kevin implies that his and Rikos titles are related to chess
In chess, the game cannot end until the king is killed.
And that's exactly how the books end.
exactly!! he was scared of her because she could see him!! and that was such a scary thing for him because he couldn't form attachments if he was going to run by october, then by spring. but because of this understanding i can see them becoming literally the best duo. like you know when you introduce someone to one of your friends to another friend and they end up becoming better friends with each other? that's EXACTLY what happened to andrew with neil and renee.
renee being on the ball about EVERYTHING neil likes and dislikes. "not everyone dislikes bee" "that's why i make you uncomfortable" "i'm not andrew's type because im a woman" etc etc. what a queen. she's literally neil's mentor. like what didn't she tell neil. nobody else noticed these things and obviously she hasn't survived this long by being ignorant to other people's emotions, but she just reads neil so well. it's probably incredibly disconcerting for neil to be so known by a stranger.
this is the same scene to me
I just need to. rant/infodump on the intricacies of the characters abd relationships in the secret history. not only because they're so well written and interesting. but because they're fucking funny.
the more police related ones were mostly spitballing but sheriff minyard in the backass of nowhere (cough millport, arizona cough) was too good to pass up, but YES lawyer andrew giving others the justice he never got, especially for foster kids pushing their adoptions and getting abusers put in jail
i feel like we as a fandom do not take advantage of the fact that andrew did a criminal justice major and told everyone it was for the meme. i genuinely believe he was going to go out there and change the world and make it better, even if it was just a little bit. i mean can you imagine? CRIMINAL LAWYER andrew minyard. OFFICER minyard. DETECTIVE minyard. SHERIFF minyard! BODYGUARD andrew minyard!!! the possibilities!!
unrelated but my dog would do this exact thing too
you ever think jean and neil get to a point where they can freely joke about riko dying and it just disturbs everyone around them like
neil: christ jean if ichirou had your aim riko would still be up and about
jean: if ichirou had my aim he would've shot you too
kevin: NO-
Hey all, been an intense few days, and realised I haven't actually posted here about the fact the crowdfunder for The Magnus Archives RPG by the incredible Monte Cook Games is live RIGHT NOW.
It's going amazingly well, far beyond what we could have predicted, and I'm so excited by it. It looks amazing and I'm so psyched to see how Monte and the team bring the Archives to the tabletop. As someone who's been roleplaying since the 90s, Monte's work has obviously been a big feature in my gaming life, so you'll have to forgive me if there's a slight fanboyish tinge to how I talk about the project!
Check it out here!
btw. merlin suffered loss where arthur suffered betrayal. will, freya, balinor, lancelot/morgana, agravaine, uther, gwen. “you were deceived. it could happen to anyone” — “and yet it keeps happening to me.” like grief grown on different branches or something. then ultimately of course they do it to each other don’t they? all in the last episode. except the difference between them and the others is they didnt really. merlin wasnt truly disloyal and arthur isnt truly dead. they’re each others exception. two sides of the same coin blah blah. am i making sense? is anyone listening?
yes i too was shocked when i realised everyone wanted to shag each other. it was literally just a five way. that's the entire book.
So, for my sanity. Let me get this straight (lol); Henry was in love with Camilla and she was in love with him. And Richard was also in love with Camilla but she friendzoned him. Francis and Camilla had kissed (twice) and Charles was furious. Francis was flirting with Richard the entire time ( "cubitum eamus") Richard fantasized about spending his old years with Francis (and they kissed ofc). Richard also described Henry in a very no homo way. Francis and Charles were secretly hooking up. And so were Charles and Camilla (also, Charles was an abuser, why don't people talk about that more?). Richard described Camilla to look very masculine and like Charles to a tee, so he also liked Charles (?). Bunny was a huge homophobe, kinda sus; also had a strange interest in Henry. And Henry was probably in love with Julian (that little weird kiss mentioned ounce). I am a missing something?
Donna. Donna. Donna, what tf is this book is about?
