James Potter prides himself in knowing everything there is to know about Regulus Black.

Or, well, he works hard to know everything he can.

He knows, for example, that Regulus can get horribly overwhelmed at parties and in big crowds, but sometimes has trouble finding the words to say so. So, James has gotten in the habit of making sure to keep a reassuring hand on the younger boy– squeezing his waist or knee every once in a while to remind him that he’s there and to check to see if he’s okay. By now, they can communicate with a few gestures, and a look from Regulus tells James that he needs to go for a walk or go back to his dorm.

He also knows that Regulus hates surprises. It’s more than just not liking the unexpected, he gets deeply uncomfortable with a break in routine. So, James makes sure to always tell him everything he can about new things. He writes down details about new places they’re going to go on dates, and he makes sure to tell Regulus all about any plans he makes for the two of them.

And of course, he knows that Regulus is very particular about his clothing. He only has about five outfits that he wears regularly, a collection of tops and pants he cycles through. He not only cares about looking good, he cares about the way the clothes feel. So James uses a charm to make a copy of Regulus’s favorite pajamas and clothes and keeps them at his Dorm, so his boyfriend can always be comfortable.

He also never even thinks about giving Regulus something new to wear.

So one day, when he is let into the Slytherin Common Room after a long day of classes and he sees Regulus curled up on the couch there, he has to blink several times, rubbing at his eyes. 

Because the younger boy is laying there, wrapped up in one of James’s hoodies, looking completely content.

“What?” Regulus asks, finally realizing he’s there after James has been staring for several seconds.

“Erm…that…that’s mine,” James says weakly, pointing to the hoodie.

“I know. Can I wear it for a while? It’s so comfortable,” Regulus sighs, smiling softly.

And without thinking, James replies, “You can have it.” Because seeing his boyfriend look so happy in something that is his is doing crazy things to his heart.

james makes paper hearts for his friends and people he loves

he carries a stack of colourful paper and makes paper hearts for his friends especially when they need a pick me up

for people who he doesn’t know and if they’re having a bad day he’d just randomly leave white paper hearts for them

all of james friends have shit loads of the paper hearts, they cherish it

one day, sirius asks reg if he got a paper heart and reg goes yeah? why? that’s when sirius confirms james has a crush on reg

on asking which colour reg says maroon with gold marble effect on it and sirius realises james is in love with reg

(the maroon with gold marble effect is james if favourite no one is allowed to touch it)

he saves this information for their wedding speech

andddd on their wedding reg has a paper heart in maroon pinned to his suit
