This 19th century album of pressed flowers from Jerusalem would have been a treat for the Victorian tourist 🌼 Made of olive wood with inlays and real flowers purported to be from various sacred sights, “Flowers of the Holy Land” books were the hot souvenirs of their day, no matter what language you spoke – the title page is in German, English, and French! This one was given as a gift to someone in Vienna once upon a time 🌸 Part of my personal collection 📚 (PS: the thing I am lifting the guard papers with is a metal spatula, widely used by conservators and rare book professionals to carefully manipulate more fragile items!)
