spring flourishes in the valley ✿。*゚𐐪𐑂°*⭑
Ah, yes, everyone’s go to calmer and de-stresser: Lavender. I burn it and use the oil and have it in a perfume and drink it in tea. But why Is it so great for literally everything?
Lavender is a very useful antidepressant and anti-anxiety herb. I drink it almost every night in a tea to calm myself. For those of us who stress all the time (especially students who tend to work themselves too much!!) it’s a great go-to when you really aren’t feeling it. Plus, it’s great for those who suffer from insomnia or people who just have trouble getting tired at night.
A great combo for stress relief for your diffuser:
5 drops Grapefruit essential oil
5 drops Lavender essential oil
But not only can it help your mental state, it also helps digestion and IBS! It’s soothing for your stomach and has a sweet taste, which can make any tea smell and taste amazing.
Lavender tea blends well with:
Green tea (De-stressing and digestion)
Hibiscus (Cramps, helps regulate digestive/resprastory tract) [[only add a little though, it’s super strong!!]]
Chamomile (nausea, athsma)
Look for shampoos with lavender in them because it is amazing for getting rid of dandruff! If you have a sensitive scalp, don’t fret – it’s very soothing on the skin.
I’m sure we all know that lavender is amazing in witchcraft, too, but what can you do with it?
It’s been used as a placeholder for calmness and peace in ancient magicks for hundreds of years. It’s attractive scent makes it favorable in love spells, as well as its heavily used property to induce happiness.
It is bound to Mercury and the element air.
Little things to do with lavender:
Keep a satchet of lavender with you to promote happiness and good health
Rub the flowers on you to attract love
Burn stalks of dried lavender to attract money, love, happiness, good health, passion, protection and sucess
Put lavender under your pillow and think about something you desire. If your dream contains something related, you’ll get said desire
Grow it in your garden to bring good luck
It has been said to attract Fae because of its beautiful scent!
It can make a great offering to many deities as it is such a wide-variety herb. You can make it into a potion, burn it on charcoals, or just sprinkle it around an effigy to show how much you love them!
Just thought I would pay tribute to my favorite herb of all times. I use it in lterally every spell for different things, sometimes like a signature. I hope you guys can find a lot of help from it, too!

“We’ve been waiting for you, Steven.”
You will need the following items for this spell:
Sandalwood incense
1 Brown candle
2 Black candle
1 White Candle
Picture of your lost pet
Quartz Crystal
White sage
Bowl of Water
Bowl of animal food
Set up your altar as you see fit, in the case of this rite, it should be mellow as for a proper funeral. When ready invoke the gods of your pantheon. In this case, gods of the afterworld and gods of animal protection. (Never invoke gods that are not of your faith nor gods you know nothing about) Light any candles you wish to use as illumination. Perform first prayers and gift your offerings and then the white sage. Take up the brown candle and hold it tight. Infuse the candle with images of the pet you lost. As you do say the following:
__(Pet name)__, I love you so much And I miss you so much Know that even though you are gone, You will always be in my heart. This candle I light is a part of you. As this candle burns slowly away, I set you free from the mortal world And yet, we will always be together
Rest a minute and when read light the two black candles and say the following:
My lord and Lady of the afterworld, may you make the journey of __(Pets Name)__ to the Isles of the Blessed swift and sure. I ask that the blessing of the Spirits of the Ancestors, of Time and of Place, and of the journey be blessed. I ask that the Blessing of the Spirits of North and South, East and West be with you. I ask that __(Pet name)__ be blessed with Fire and with Water, with Earth, with Air, with Soul, with Spirit and with Balance. I ask for the blessing of the Lord and Lady of the Animals and the Woods, the Mountains and the Streams. I ask that the Blessing of the Lord and Lady of the Wildwood may always be with you.
Take a minute and light the white candle and say the following:
By the beauty of the fields, the woods and the sea, by the splendor that is set up on all that is, we send you our own love and blessings, dear __(Pet Name)__. As the sun rises in the East and sets in the West, so too are each of us born and so too do each of us die. But as the sun returns anew each day, so too do we return to earth, refreshed and renewed.
Now take a moment and relax. Play some music for a minute. When ready say the following:
You’re free to go now, Little One. Rejoice and play the time has come For your spirit to be on its way. Have fun, be happy your love will stay!
Pick up the stone and say the following
So long as this stone is close to me, together we shall always be. And though I may gain another pet in time to come you can never be replace, you hold a special place in my heart. And when it is time for me to step on the shores of evermore, We will once again be together…for-ever-more.“ Seven days, Seven days the gods have allotted all spirits and souls, to travel the world and say goodbye to those we loved in life. I open my windows and open my door for these seven days that we may be together one last time, for one last kiss.
Let the brown and white candle burn out on its own. Blow out the black candles only afterwards speaking "With loves sweet kiss.” Never pinch out a candle, as it is dangerous and rude. Whatever is left of the wax place in a jar with the picture and a pinch left of the white sage. Burn it in the hole along with the bowl of food and water. (Use a old tin for the food and water.) Then bury them all and if possible with your pet.
Ostara is a time for change. It’s a time for celebrating rebirth and renewal and it’s a time for thanking the universe for the magic that is earth. Sometimes you just need to switch things up and have fun with life. Luckily, I have put together the list to conquer all lists: How to Have Fun on Ostara.
• Bake food! Ostara is all about making new things and the coming of newness, so why not make some new things yourself? Honey cakes, soda bread, flowery teas, moon cookies, and other magical foods are sure to provide a fun and yummy Ostara. 🍵
• Watch nature documentaries. Binge watching movies and TV shows has always been a passion of mine. However, Ostara isn’t really the greatest time for staying inside and doing nothing all day. Don’t worry, cause boy do I have a solution for you! Nature documentaries celebrate Spring and just nature in general, and the amazingness of earth itself. Watch them and feel the magic of spring and nature. 📽
• Go outside. Ostara is 100% all about the outdoors and the changing of the seasons. Collect some type of water, go for a walk/hike, collect plants and “artifacts” for your witchy wonders, and just have fun. Try inviting some other friends to enjoy the outdoors with you, so you can be in the company of others. 🍃
• Gather some friends and have an Ostara ritual. Cook up some lavender + vanilla popcorn, wrap yourselves in some fluffy blankets, and sit around some tarot cards or a crystal altar and charge your minds with the energy of Spring. 🔮
• Just dance. Dancing is a great way to cleanse and renew yourself and what better day to cleanse things than on Ostara? Having a dance party, either alone or with friends is energizing, refreshing, fun, and most importantly, not harmful to the environment. 💃
• Make a fairy shrine. This one leads back to my childhood. If you are a supporter of the fae and love fairytales, then you will love this idea. Gather leaves, flowers, herbs, scraps of cloth, and so on in order to create your shrine. Little colorful beads, shards of glass, crystals, or even just some cute rocks are great starters! 🍄
• Ground yourself! By ground yourself, I mean really, physically ground yourself. Take off your shoes, go outside, and bury your feet in the dirt. Not only does this connect you with nature, it is also scientifically proven to rid your body of unnecessary electricity and it can prevent static electricity. ⚡️
• Open some windows! Letting the outside in is a great way to honor Ostara and invite the changing weather in without having to get all prepared for a nature walk or hike. Also, fresh air is a million times better for you than indoor air, as it is freshly cleaned by trees and it hasn’t been cycling around your house for hours. 🌬
• Write a love letter. Write a love letter to yourself, to the earth, to past witches or future witches, to fellow witches or your enemy witches, to your deities or the universe. Write a love letter to whomever you please, and don’t be shy about it. Spill out your thoughts and focus on every word. Slip it in a grimoire or notebook, maybe your diary or a special box. Honor this love letter, as it is a reminder of nature and Ostara. 💌
• Start a nature grimoire. If you already have a grimoire for spells, theories, magic, and mystery, then why not start one entirely dedicated to nature? Write about what you’ve observed in nature, your theories about nature, herbs, drying plants, and gardening. Have fun with it! 📖
• Do a seed-casting ritual. Simply put, gather all of your favorite plant seeds and combine them. Dig a small-ish hole in the ground and sprinkle the seeds into the hole while walking around the hole chanting, “I wish it be, I wish it may, grow in the ground fiercely today, have the strength to make it through, the evil and the twisted, so this chant shall do”. I came up with this as a personal way to encourage my plants to grow and flourish whenever I plant them. If you want more info, just message me! 🌹
• Play classical music for your plants! This has been proven to increase plant growth phenomenally, and there’s no doubt that you can sing to them too. Helping strengthen plants is a great way to celebrate Ostara. 🎼
• My nighttime Ostara ritual. As you can probably tell by now, my rituals and I are pretty tight-knit. I do this ritual to signify the leaving of an old life and the beginning of a new one. I also do this to cleanse my heart of any negativity. Getting rid of the sluggish feelings of Winter and bringing forth the new ones of Spring is really important. Simply light as many candles as you can and say, “This is my life, the life I give, to the air to the dirt to the sky to the night, this is the life I live. Twitching and twirling is the wand of my past, no longer it is mine. So I say goodbye to the wrinkled and old, and hello to the fresh and magical”. This chant simply states the purpose of the activity and has no real connection to Witchcraft other than to signify the official act of moving on. After reciting the passage, blow out each candle in quick succession! 🕯
I hope all of you enjoy my masterpost of Ostara activities! If you have any questions or suggestions, please message me anytime. Hope you all have a wonderful Ostara and happy bewitching 🌞

Winter is now approaching and its such a powerful time for weather magic, focusing on magic within the home and self reflection. Here’s some witchy winter things to do!
Collecting ❄️ Collect pine cones for protection and to make the house smell good! You can use pine cone ‘thorns’ for protection or use them to leave offerings to nature as bird feeders! All you need is peanut butter and seeds for birds to eat.
❄️Winter water for winter magic! Snow water can correspond with patience, growth and purity. Blizzard water can be used for curses, banishing and concealing(since blizzards can bury things in snow). Icicle water for protection and defensive magic. Ice rain for petty hexes (think of uncomfortable falling debris constantly hitting you from the sky), or in a positive/neutral light- the accumulation of something.
Snow and Ice Magic
❄️Snow Sentinels to protect the home! You can mold them to look like ordinary snowmen or shape a monster from the snow! I dunno I would much prefer having a dramatic snow troll emerging from the icy depths of my front lawn then a jolly looking fellow but if your neighbors will start asking questions I guess just go for the usual unsuspecting looking snow man. Use them to ward unwanted energy and guests! Build a snowman around a witch jar if you really want to add extra magic and power to your snow sentinel!
❄️Make Ice lanterns especially if you celebrate Imbolc, Candlemas, Candle Day the Winter Crossquarter or (as Upthewitchypunx celebrates) Candlemark! It’s a beautiful and naturesque way to make your yard a glow in the dark times of winter. There are several ways to make it! (1, 2- preferred, 3, 4). Also it’s my Winter Crossquarter personal tradition to welcome the light back by putting out a new lantern every day after Yule and lighting it so that there is a new light. (often this accumulates up to 40 but it makes for a beautiful show). (Since I can only fit so many lanterns in my freezer and I don’t always have time to make more I usually end up making 10-15 and the rest are interior electric candles- just to give you some realistic obstacles to expect if you want to part take in that).
❄️ You can also make Ice Capsules the similar way to making ice lanterns in a balloon or in a cup and sealing your spells in there to be disposed of in nature. Sometimes witches like to bury spells in jars but that might not be the best thing for nature especially if you want to do that for most of your spells. There are great alternatives to burying your spell like in a wrapped leaf or in light paper that can break down easily, but you can be extra creative and seal them in an ice ball to be tucked away under snow.
❄️Cut out snowflakes for papercraft magic! You can write spells in them, or cut out symbols when they are folded up to make a kaleidoscopic piece. Envision something ideally something you’d want to last or stick around for. Cast this spell by dissolving it in snow water, freezing it in snow water and sticking it in the freezer or burying it in the snow outside.
❄️Charge your water safe crystals and tools in the snow! Gather some snow in a bowl and bring it to your altar to place your water-proof items within!
❄️If you work with the winter spirits make sweet ice offerings. Mix sugar water (heat it up first to get it well infused) and with an ice tray pour some in and maybe add some natural coloring or even small sliced fruit or berries to freeze! Pop the cubes out (bonus if you have cute ice trays like star shapes) and leave them out as offerings! You can also make stormsorceress’s snow fairy icecream to offer to nature outside as well!
❄️If you use Thawing Salt to for the ice on your property, you can bless it and also do magic to ward away negativity from around your home (since you usually have to spread it around your walkways) it makes for great wards to protect from icy roads and unpleasant energy!
❄️Frost Scrying can be done by divining the frost on icy windows!
Self Care
❄️Winter is a time of self reflection, rest and hibernation. Don’t feel down if most of what you do this season is stay under the covers and sleep, it’s the season to slow down and relax. Do some self reflection, take time to meditate if you are trapped in doors. There are some really relaxing winter meditation sound tracks I love to listen to.
❄️Winter is also the season of physical self care or else it will get the best of your skin and hair. I see winter as Spa season cause it’s the best time to go to a sauna house and also a season I focus the most on moisturization. Make body butters with coconut oil or shea butter (depending on how dry your skin gets), add warming massage oil in your magical mixtures to give your skin a nice sense of warmth as you apply your body butters to begin your day! I love to use sweet warm scents in my body lotions such as cinnamon (which is also warming), and nutmeg and fragrance oils such as sugar cookie, caramel and brown sugar.
❄️ I like to use refreshing winter scents like peppermint and cedar oil in balms to apply on my chest when my nose is stuffy. Peppermint helps to clear up nasal passages. Make sure to mix only a little in cocobutter because it can be icy and uncomfortable if there is too much in the ratio.
❄️Enchant your Chapstick with protection! If you want to have a lip-pain free season, then you will be making the most with your chapstick! Add glamour magic to it if you want to use your chapstick to be more heard while speaking, have more appealing lips, whatever you like.
❄️Bless your clothing with protection. You can coat the dryer balls with cinnamon oil and also cedar for warmth (also cinnamon and cedar smells like a Christmas tree). You can use any oil that won’t stain clothing (most good essential oils won’t if it’s not directly on it) that you associate with warmth and protection to put on the dryer balls and it will help fluff out your sweaters, make them smell great and be an easy discreet way for glamour magic!
Cooking
❄️Witches love to make spells with infused waters but you can do spells for teas since it’s basically hot infused water! Bless your thermos. Every morning make yourself a magical tea blend for your day before you leave for work or school. Peppermint for clarity, cleanliness; cinnamon spice for fiery energy, warmth, passion; black tea for alert energy, power; orange spice for zesty creativity; pomegranate for love and sensuality; nutmeg for attractiveness; ginger for protection and grounding etc. there’s many correspondences for these listed but also the majority of these help fight colds and lift the spirit so it’s good to drink. You can also use fresh fruit to add in the hot water and vitamin C packets if you need an extra boost!
❄️The Crockpot was basically made for this season! It’s so practical and is like a modern slowcooking cauldron. I will post again the list of fantastic crock pot recipes for fall and winter.
❄️If you love lattes and making latte art I would highly suggest getting a Milk Wand! It’s a milk frother wand that can froth milk at a high speed (like a super highspeed whisk) and if you have the skill you can make latte sigils into your morning drink to give boost to your day. A fantastic idea queercraft posted is to steam Kava (and other herbs can work) into your milk to make morning latte. Its a great way to begin the day on a relaxed note.
❄️ Herbal Remedies can be helpful if you catch a scratchy throat or stuffy nose and want to help alleviate the common cold. You can check out this short and sweet list by Recreational Witchcraft of common herbal remedies that are practical to use in this season!
Home Decorations
❄️Tree Decorations can be a great source of magic! If you celebrate Yule, Winter Solstice or Christmas and will get a tree make salt dough ornaments! You can make them very magical and add sigils for joy on them. You can also make spell bobbles for joy and peace! This video will show you how to craft a witch’s ball out of an empty tree ornament bobble for protection!
❄️Make a pine besom for protection. Most will think it’s Christmas decoration. Add holy for longevity, mistletoe for love, and currants for prosperity!
❄️Make Potpourri to help freshen the home! The air in the home can get stale due to lack of circulation since it’s too cold to open windows. Also day to day cleansing with refreshing peppermint, eucalyptus or pine helps refresh the air!
❄️ Oil candles can be a great way to create a spell but also help freshen the home without crafting a potpourri every time. They also make great gifts!
Here’s a template I made, inspired by the author Richard Kieckhefer.
1. Opening statement.
To summon a spirit: + “I summon” + “I call upon” + “I conjure” + “I invoke”
To banish a spirit: + “I banish” + “I dispel” + “I return” + “I expell” + “I release”
To demand something: + “I ask” + “I command” + “I demand”
2. Name of spirit. “ You… “
+ Whole name + Whole name + birthplace (town/city/country) + Whole name + name of parent + Whole name + occupation in life + “Spirit”
3. Power or authority.
“ By… “ + “My powers” + “My might” + “This token” + “My authority as [insert authority]”
“ In the name of ” + “ All that is ” + “ The powers that be ” + “ What was and will be ”
4. Command.
To summon: + “Manifest thyself within this [circle/room/smoke/mirror/basin/water]” + “Make thyself known” + “Come to me” + “Come forth” + “Grant me audience”
To banish: + “Leave this place” + “Leave me” + “Begone”
To demand something: State your demand and offer a reward for the completion of this task.
Example: “ I summon [Opening statement] You, John Doe [Name of spirit], By my power and in the name of what once was [Power or authority]. Manifest thyself in this circle! [Command] ”
