Something I really appreciate about TOA that I don’t see get talked about much is that I never get the sense that Apollo finds Lester ugly.

For all that he complains about the body he’s stuck in, I never got the feeling that it came from a distaste for Lester himself. When he sees Lester’s traits reflected in others, like Meg being chunky, he is completely unaffected by it. Finds it charming, even. (In fact, the only times I can remember him having Opinions about how someone looks is when they’ve chosen something about their appearance that he either approves or disapproves of, like a tacky jacket/hair cut or when he finds someone attractive. The only time I can remember him calling anybody ugly was when he pointed out that Dionysus was choosing to look as ugly as possible to piss of Zeus, which is a statement of fact and doesn’t necessarily mean he thinks that Dionysus’ form is actually ugly. He makes no mention of finding it so before or after that line. It’s a statement of fact that Dionysus is choosing a form that either he or Zeus finds ugly to piss of their dad.)

The thing about Lester is that he is so devastatingly mortal. He has flab and acne and no upper body strength and his voice squeaks when he’s nervous and he sweats a lot and he has a silly name and messy, curly hair that’s impossible to tame. He is the Most Teenager To Ever. There is no godly blood running through his veins, no powers he can call upon. If Apollo were to run into him in the street, I don’t think he’d pay him much mind. He’d probably just think, “sweet kid”, and move on. If he got to know him, I think Apollo would adore him because that’s just who rrverse!Apollo is. He loves mortals despite himself, flaws and all. He’d argue against anything bad Lester had to say about his own appearance and mean every word.

The problem is that it’s Apollo in this body. Apollo, The Golden Child, the perfect son, a God. His distaste for this body is because Lester is so devastatingly mortal and imperfect. Apollo has to be perfect, he has to be shiny and pretty and strong because he has nothing else to offer otherwise.

And.. I dunno, there’s something about Apollo hating the things that draw him to others when it’s him. The flaws that he tears apart in himself he finds endlessly charming on others, or he thinks that they have better reasons for why they have them, or he thinks they have enough positive traits to counteract them. The positive things that he hides deep enough that even the reader can’t see right away, like his kindness and genuine desire to understand and connect with everyone around him, that he’s shocked to find directed at him in turn.

That Apollo accepting himself and reclaiming his personhood leads to him being comfortable with being Lester, imperfect and mortal as he is. That he takes that imperfection back with him to Olympus… I dunno man I’m Emotional. Also it’s just plain nice that Lester is never treated as ugly for looking like a normal ass teenager, even by the guy stuck in this body. That’s neat.

Or maybe I’m just rambling and this means nothing at all and I’m reading too far into Blorbo from my books.

Dannymay 2025: Day 4 - Eyes

An eldritch horror!Phantom au in which Danny's boyfriend is a monstrosity beyond human comprehension and he makes that everyone's problem lol

I just love the thought of everyone else being horrified when they see Phantom yet Danny is so nonchalant. He just wants to cuddle with his boyfriend why is everyone screaming??

How I imagine the dynamic:

I love the idea of Wes but I like him best in two very specific scenarios. The first one is just him and Danny being put in a situation where they’re like the only competent people there and they have to fight or figure out the problem alongside one another and have to learn to trust each other. I just like the moment where they stare at each other like seriously, he’s the only other competent person here?

Now that the fluffs out of the way. Wes is incredibly determined to out Danny like he is in most phanon. Now imagine that Danny pulls him aside one day and tries to explain that he needs to stop danny could die, he’s begging. And Wes just looks him straight in the eye and tells him he’s a bad liar.

And then boom. Wes manages to expose danny. Maybe over a live stream, I don’t know. But the point is he’s done it and he’s all smug ready to gloat and basically tell everyone who called him crazy I told you so. Then danny’s parents start shooting at him again, then the GIW get to him first. They drag him off kicking and screaming.

This whole thing from Wes’ perspective and he has to deal with the guilt and tries to find a way to rescue Danny. Also, it turns out being proven right was everything he thought it was going to be. Especially, once his brothers start avoiding him. He just changed from being the crazy conspiracy theorist to either being the one who took the city’s hero away or being praised for finally destroying “that horrible ghost”.

He wants to go back. Danny was right.

Jazz would be funny and all but, idk man, I just love the angst potential of it being spectra.

Like, she feeds on negative emotion and purposely makes students miserable. She ACTIVELY tries to make her favorites try and kill themselves.

The idea of Damian feeling really bad and knowing something’s wrong and trying to communicate that to his family only for them to just, not believe him. I mean, especially for Damian of all people that had got to be heartbreaking.

I don’t even care if more dp characters show up. I just need this.

Just a quickie, but what if Damian was forced to go to a counselor after a particular nasty fight with another student ( Damian said it wasn't a fight just a disagreement because that kid would not stand back up if it was one... the kid was pushing his buttons for weeks) to keep up NORMAL kid appearance he goes. Only to assume his new counselor knows way more than she lets on, and is out to kill him. But his family won't believe him! This can go one or two ways. It can be wholesome or an actual threat... or both : D I first imagine it be Spectra but now thinking about it.. it be funny if it was Jazz XD Or alternatively.. it was suppose to be Jazz but Spectra took her spot. Reason bats aren't too paranoid for once. The background check is solid. Only strange thing is that they came from a seemingly happy little town to Gotham.

There’s this massive idea in the phanon that when Danny died he left behind a body (as it should this idea is amazing).

First of all I want to know what happens to Danny when he turns human again. Is he just a ghost shape shifting to look human? Does he go back to his body and it looks like he just passed out? Does he overshadow his body? Did he just, like, regrow his entire mortal form?

Either way, that’s not what I’m here for. There is another, slightly less popular idea that Danny’s body is constantly decaying. I am here to propose a middleman.

Now all the basics happen. Danny dies, he sees his body and panics. He decides to bury it because, you know, dead and all that. Except he’s under the impression that he just straight up died, no funky business. So he happened to fall asleep that night.

When he woke up he couldn’t see. He couldn’t breath. He shouldn’t need to breath but everything was suffocating. Danny tries to phase out but it doesn’t work. So he digs widely because he can’t breathe, where is he, he needs out. And he finally manages to drag himself out of his own grave to realize he’s completely human.

So, obviously he goes about his day, literally what else can he do? Except he feels a bit more stiff than normal. Throughout the day it gets harder and harder to move until he’s struggling to even stand. Then it finally hits him. Rigamortus.

Some of the best Naruto angst is seeing a really really cute comic or snippet or anything like that, and then the end hits you in the face by showing you that someone is in infinite tsukuyomi and I think the DP fandom should start doing that with Nocturn
